Chapter 85
Two Times The Charm Novel (Clara and Emmett)
Emmett paused for a bit, âIf heâs extremely introverted, he might be autistic. He should get checked out at the hospital.â
âThereâs nothing wrong with him! Heâs definitely not autistic!â
If Alex is autistic, then there is no one healthy left in this world!
âWell, thatâs good.â Emmett glanced at his watch and stood up. âItâs time for your flight. Iâll walk you to the gate.â
âNo need! I can handle it!â
âLetâs go.â
åº â
âMommy!â
Upon catching sight of Clara, Alex impulsively wanted to hug her. But the injury to his leg made him grimace and he sat in his wheelchair instead.
Clara quickly walked up and embraced her son.
âAlex! Iâve missed you so much!â
âMommy, me too.â Alex blinked, and tears unexpectedly fell from his eyes.
âDonât cry, donât cry! If you do, Mommy will want to cry too.â Clara reached out to wipe away Alexâs tears.
Standing aside, Elio curled his lip, âHey, are you two planning on ignoring me?â
Clara looked up at Elio and gave an awkward smile, âElio, thank you! If it werenât for you, I wouldnât know where to send Alex.â
âYou heartless woman. Canât you give me any other reward apart from saying thanks?â Elio raised an eyebrow.
âClara, whatâs with that face?!â Seeing that she intended to completely ignore him, Elio quickly stepped forward, âIâm serious; Iâm not joking!â
Clara took hold of her sonâs wheelchair, âYour joke must be a joke. No matter how many times you say it, I wonât take it seriously!â
âYouâ¦â Elio quickly followed her, âAfter all Iâve done for you; donât you think our relationship should progress?â
Alex, sitting in his wheelchair, lifted his head and unexpectedly interjected. âMom! I like Mr. Milburn; can you let him be my dad?â
ââ¦Alex, donât speak nonsense!â
âIâm not speaking nonsense! I mean it! I think Mr. Milburn is great, and heâs suitable to be my dad! Why canât he be my dad?â Alex pouted. âAt Mr. Milburnâs house, he plays with me every day and buys me delicious food! Heâs the kindest person to me in this world apart from Mommy!â
Clara helplessly tapped her sonâs forehead lightly with her finger, âSilly boy! Youâre still young, so you donât understand.â
âAlex might be young, but Iâm not!â Elio quickly added, âTell me, what exactly is the reason you canât be with me?â
Clara looked at her son, âCan we go home first? Do we need to discuss this here?â
She had just gotten off the plane and was exhausted.
âAlright, but you must give me an answer today!â
ââ¦â Clara felt like she had stepped off the plane and directly into a trap.
âLetâs go, my carâs waiting downstairs. This time, I need an answer from you! Iâm really curious. What does your constant rejection mean?â
âElio! Can you not talk about these things in front of the child?â
Clara glanced at Alex, then shot Elio a look.
Only then did Elio frown, âFine, Iâll talk to you privately.â
