In the headquarters of Melendez’s company in China.

Emmett just stepped out of the conference room when he saw Ricardo hustling over, “Mr. Melendez, the security and receptionist are okay, the doc says they can all be discharged tomorrow”

“All medical expenses are on the company.”

“Got it.” Ricardo nodded, then hesitated a bit before asking “And uh.. what about Ms. Parrott?”

“Hand her over to the cops Emmett answered without looking up. “Don’t bug me with her stuff.”

“Got it!”

Just as Ricardo was about to leave, Emmett suddenly thought of something and spoke up again, “Has Clara arrived in Europe?”

“Yes, she has, Ricardo replied.

Emmett frowned. “Then why hasn’t she called to let me know?”

His tone was slightly displeased, and Ricardo cautiously replied, “Ms. Calloway’s son was injured. It’s only natural for a mother to be worried and forget to make a call in th midst of her concerns.”

Emmett acknowledged this response.

He didn’t further inquire why Clara hadn’t called him immediately after landing. Instead, he began to worry about any troubles she might have encountered with her ex–husband.

In the afternoon, it was time for Aiden to leave school.

As was his routine, he packed up his bag and went to the school gate to wait for the Melendez family’s car.

But today, he couldn’t find it.

Just as he was about to call his Grandma, he heard someone calling his name from behind him.

Aiden turned around and was surprised to see his father, Emmett!
