The sun was shining in the sky outside the room. But inside the ward, Jazmine curled up her body on
the sick bed, trembling as
if she was in an icehouse.
The bodyguard stopped the nurse who came in to check Jazmine up. After the bodyguard carefully
checked the objects that the nurse had bought here, he finally let her go. The nurse couldnât help but
feel dissatisfied. She muttered in dissatisfaction, âThis is the third time I came in to check the patient.
You checked on my things every time I came. Is the person living here a patient or a criminal?â
Jazmine heard the footsteps. Then, she felt that her quilt was lifted. The nurse measured Jazmineâs
body temperature, checked her blood pressure, and then stuffed something similar to a paper in
Jazmineâs hand.
Jazmineâs whole body trembled, and she subconsciously tightened her grip.
After Jazmine heard no sounds in the room, she lifted up a bit of the quilt to let the light in. With such a
weak light, she successfully saw a line of small characters on the note. The familiar handwriting came
from Jazmineâs best friend, Jennie.
It wrote, âYour father is fine. Iâll take you away tonight.â
Jazmine covered her mouth and cried silently.
What Jazmine didnât know was that Giancarlo was standing outside the ward right now. He narrowed
his cold eyes slightly, and his thin lips pursed. His whole body exuded an aura of coldness.
Facing such a terrifying employer, even a sevenâfoot man could not help but feel cold. The bodyguard
hurriedly explained, âThat is a nurse. She will do three daily checks and has always been very
responsible in her work.â
âKeep a close eye on her,â Giancarlo interrupted and left after he finished his words.
The bodyguard felt like he had survived a disaster. He reached out and wiped the cold sweat off his
forehead.
The news that Robert was fine had comforted Jazmine. But the news that Jennie would come to take
her away tonight made Jazmine restless.
If Jennie came, she would definitely anger Giancarlo.
Jazmine didnât care about her own life. But she couldnât implicate Jennie. Jazmine thought she had to
think of a way to leave the hospital and stop Jennie before she came.
Jazmine had not left the ward for a few days. Her originally fair face was now pale and bloodless.
Jazmine was not surprised to see someone stop her at the door.
Jazmine said, âI want to go out and take a walkâ
The bodyguard did not dare to take the risk. âSorry. Mr. Tapia said that you canât leave.â
Jazmine tittered. Her voice was very low but chilling.
âAm I a criminal?â Jazmine asked.
The bodyguard hurriedly shook his head, not daring to look into Jazmineâs desperate eyes. He felt that
he might also feel sad once he looked into Jazmineâs eyes.
Jazmine tittered again, looking a little dull. âThen why do you lock me up? I just want to go out for a
walk.â
The bodyguard couldnât bear it and tried to persuade Jazmine, âYou shouldnât go against Mr. Tapia. If
you compromise, you wonât be locked up.â
Jazmine was stunned. The next moment, she begged âI just want to go out for a short whila. Two houre

an hour is also fine. I want to see my father. Please.â
The bodyguard was at a loss, and his face was full of embarrassment. âI canât let you go.â
No matter how hard Jazmine tried, the bodyguard refused to let her go.
After the sky darkened, Jazmine received another note from the nurse. The note wrote, âIâll take you
away in an hour.â
Jazmine wanted Jennie not to come, but she just couldnât get through the phone.
Jennieâs mobile phone had always been unavailable.
Jazmine paced back and forth anxiously.
In the end, Jazmine gritted her teeth and climbed out of the window.
Jazmineâs ward was on the fifth floor. If she fell down accidentally, the chance of death was very high.
But Jazmine had no
other choice.
Jazmineâs body was hanging outside the window, trembling. It seemed that she was almost unable to
hold the windowsill. She had overestimated herself.
Jazmine looked back, and fear filled her heart in an instant, which almost made her fall by accident.
Jazmine struggled to stabilize her body. She even ignored the sweat that streamed into her eyes.
In the next moment, Jazmine noticed a thick hemp rope next to her. This rope seemed to have been
used and left here.
Jazmine used that rope and slid down from the top. Her palm was burning with pain, and a piece of
skin was broken. Blood
quickly came out of her palm.
But Jazmine ignored it. She immediately clenched her fists and ran to the parking lot.
At the same time, Giancarlo pushed the door open and went in. Facing the empty ward, Giancarloâs
face darkened.
The bodyguard was frightened, and his legs were weak at this moment.
Yoselin suppressed the joy in her heart. She pretended to be worried and said, âDid Ms. Gardner run
out again? Sheâs too willful. She hasnât recovered yet. Why is she so impatient?â
Giancarloâs gaze fell on Yoselinâs face. Yoselin caught the ruthlessness that flashed through Giancarloâs
eyes.
Yoselin hurriedly grabbed Giancarloâs sleeve. âDonât be angry. Ms. Gardner definitely didnât leave on
purpose.â
âYoselin, Iâll send you back to the ward to rest.â
Yoselin was delighted.
When Yoselin met Giancarloâs dark eyes, she hurriedly put on a worried expression. She said
hesitantly, âBut, what about Ms. Gardner?â
âSheâs not important.â
Jazmine hid in the corner of the parking lot.
This was the only way for people to pass through the parking lot. Whether Jennie came in from the
front entrance of the hospital or came in through the parking lot, she could notice Jazmine with a
glance.
Time passed quickly. It was already half an hour after the appointed time. Jazmineâs right hand was still
bleeding. But she could only hold it with her left hand.
Jennie still did not appear.
Jazmine couldnât help but wonder, does she forget the time? Or did something happen to her?
In the end, Jazmine could not help but try to call Jennie again.
This time, the call was actually connected.
âJennie, you went to see my father, right? How is he?â
âJazmine? Oh, my! I can finally get through to you. Your father has passed the crisis. He is in a good
condition now. Your mother is taking care of him. Donât worry.â
Jazmine nodded. Realizing that Jennie could not see her, Jazmine hurriedly replied, âThatâs great.â
Jennie could hear the sob in Jazmineâs voice. She asked worriedly, âJazmine, are you crying?â
Jazmine hurriedly sniffed and said, âNo. I just choked because of the dust and sneezed a few times.â
Jennie naturally did not believe it. She said worriedly, âWe are all worried about you. Your father wants
you to take good care of yourself. Donât worry about anything else. He⦠You donât have to worry about
him.â
âJennie, he is my father.â
Jennie felt a little helpless. She was worried, but she was unable to say anything to comfort Jazmine.
Jazmine knew that she could not stay outside for long, so she hurriedly said, âJennie, I canât go with
you, so donât come over.â
Jennie was furious. âJazmine, donât worry. I have already decided to go see you tomorrow. No matter
how powerful Giancarlo is, I will go to your side.â
Tomorrow?
Jazmine had an indescribable strange feeling in her heart.
Jazmine did not speak. Jennie thought that Jazmine was sad, so she comforted Jazmine, âI couldnât
get through to you. I donât know where you are. Tell me, where are you now?â
Jazmine finally understood what was wrong.
Jazmine was a hundred percent sure that the note was not sent by Jennie.
âJennie, I called you to tell you not to come to me. Tell David that Iâm fine.â
Hearing Jazmineâs voice, Jennie could tell that there was something wrong. But Jazmine refused to tell
Jennie what was wrong, so Jennie was very anxious.
Jazmine hung up the phone and was ready to go back to the ward.
As soon as Jazmine turned around, a black shadow enveloped her body and approached her step by
step. The pressure was getting stronger and stronger. The man sneered, and the hairs on Jazmineâs
body stood up.
âIs David that important to you?â
