Plan of Attack

Mafia Entanglement

SHAY

I woke up the next morning to the sensation of a very attractive naked man peppering kisses all over my face and body. I tried to roll over and go back to sleep, but he held me down and kissed my lips gently.

“Wake up, sweetheart. You’ve got some training to do today.”

“Seriously? You’re waking me up at…” I squinted at the clock. He laughed softly against my back and kissed my neck.

“It’s almost ten, sweetheart. Time to get up, get dressed, have some breakfast, and then we’re off to the ring and shooting range.”

I groaned, opening my eyes to see this incredibly handsome man with dark hair hanging in his eyes, hovering over me.

If he wasn’t so damn attractive, it would be easier to leave him and spare him from the danger that was looming over me.

He’d made it clear yesterday that I wasn’t allowed to leave the house without him, Connor, or Noah.

Tomorrow was the night he was supposed to hand me over at the club to some stranger. I wanted to convince him to let me be the bait to draw this person out.

I rolled over, pretending to go back to sleep. We’d been up until at least three, making love repeatedly.

“Shay, I won’t tell you again. If I have to, you’ll be over my shoulder, and your ass is going to get spanked again,” he warned, wrapping his arm around my waist.

He nudged me towards the edge of the bed with his strong body.

I was teetering on the edge when he leaned in to whisper in my ear, “If you don’t get up, sweetheart, I’ll push you onto the floor. I’ve turned the heat off—it’s pretty chilly right now.”

“Really? You’d be that mean to me? Do you remember what time we went to bed last night?”

“Sure,” he replied cheerfully. “We went to bed around eleven. Now, if you’re talking about what time we fell asleep, that’s a different story.

“I have no complaints about all the different ways we made love last night. My favorite was when you were riding me hard and nearly wore me out.”

I scoffed, and he moved closer to me. I was on the brink of falling off the bed as he gently nudged me. “If you don’t get up, you’re going to hit the floor.”

He nudged me again. I started to fall, but he caught me, leaving me hanging off the side of the bed, staring at the floor.

“Okay, pull me up, and I’ll get up. Please turn the heat back on so my feet aren’t freezing.”

“I never turned it off, sweetheart. You think I’m going to walk around on cold floors?” He laughed as he pulled me back up against his chest, and I landed on top of him.

“There’s my beautiful woman, just how I like her. Naked and lying on top of me so I can feel her warm body against mine.”

I started to trace one of his tattoos on his chest. I heard a low growl in his throat as I did. “Can I ask you a question?”

“You know you can. I’ve told you that you can ask me anything you want. Now, whether I answer is a different story.”

“I want to go to the club with you tomorrow night. Maybe we can draw him out, whoever this person is.”

His body tensed up. Yep, that was a bad question to ask him.

“I told you that you’re not getting involved in this. What if he gets his hands on you and I can’t get to him in time?”

“Hear me out, please. I’m your only hope to draw him out, so we know who we’re dealing with. As long as one of your guys is close, they should be able to get to me, right?”

“Sweetheart, I told you—”

I put my finger against his lips, and he frowned at me. “Just listen to my plan first, and then we can discuss it, please.”

He sighed and nodded, but the anger in his eyes didn’t fade.

“Put one of your trackers on me; that way, you can know where I am at all times. I can hide it somewhere. He’ll never find it.”

“You sound like you’re planning to go with him willingly.”

“Just as a backup, that’s all. We can train as much as you want today, and then we can all come up with a plan for tomorrow.

“What if whoever is feeding this guy information is right here under your nose? We can flush out all the people at once. Then you can have your fun with them.”

A smirk slowly spread across his face. “So you know that I like to play with people, huh?”

“Yes, I do, and here’s my plan for that. No one knows our plan but you and me.”

He started to speak, but I shook my head.

“There’s a leak in your house somewhere. I know you trust Noah and Conner with your life, but please go with me on this. If we’re the only ones who know what’s going on, then we won’t draw any suspicion.

“You can tell them to keep an eye on me, but don’t tell them what we’re doing. I don’t think it’s either of them, but I can’t rule anyone out on this.

“The other day, a man in a black hoodie was talking on the phone. It sounded like it was about me, but I couldn’t get a look at his face. I tried, but I stayed hidden, and then he left.”

“Why didn’t you tell me about this phone call?” Zane’s eyes were piercing mine.

“I was going to, but then with what happened yesterday, it slipped my mind until now.”

I told him about the part of the call that I’d heard, and he nodded in agreement.

“There’s someone in this house working for this guy, and I need to know who it is. We can go with your plan then. I don’t like it at all, but as long as I can keep an eye on you at all times, it might just work.”

Suddenly, the intercom buzzed. “Yeah?” he grumbled into it.

“Noah here, boss. You planning on lounging in bed all day, or are you going to grace us with your presence?” Noah’s voice was laced with playful sarcasm.

“We’re almost ready. Have breakfast on the table in ten.”

“You got it, boss,” Noah chuckled before signing off.

“Alright, we’ve been holed up in here long enough. Time to get moving and tackle the day. We can discuss the plan tonight or tomorrow morning.”

“That works for me. Are you certain no one can eavesdrop on us here?”

“I’ll make sure of it.” He sealed his promise with a kiss before rising from the bed. We both slipped into our workout clothes and made our way to the kitchen.
