Chapter 103
Fall For My Ex's Mafia Father
That afternoon, I have a lot more fun than Iâve had in a long time. Perhaps made even more fun by the knowledge that when I get home, Kent is going to kill me.
So, Iâd better live it up while I can.
âAnother!â I call to the bartender, raising my hand to get his attention.
Ivan laughs at me, pulling my hand down. âYou know you donât have to do that, right? Heâs been keeping an eye on you all afternoon. Thereâs no way heâs not going to notice when your drink is empty.â
A few hours ago, in the car, I had asked Ivan to take me somewhere Kent wouldnât easily find us. Heâd smirked and told me he had just the place, driving me across the city to the bad part of town. Then, heâd parked his sparkling Ferrari in front of a decrepit dive bar.
Iâd been hesitant at first but heâd taken my hand, telling me to trust him, and pulled me inside.
Iâd understood the minute we stepped in the door and my eyes adjusted to the light. With deep red booths ringing the walls and a meticulously polished mahogany bar, this neighborhood bar wasnât a dump â it was a well-kept secret.
And weâve been here for about three hours now, drinking and laughing, chasing that reckless feeling that Iâve had since I made the snap decision to get into his car.
âReally?â I ask now, glancing between the bar tender and Ivan. âHeâs been keeping an eye on me â like, watching me? Why?â
âBecause youâre hot, Fay,â Ivan says, leaning in to whisper it like itâs a secret. I throw my head back and laugh, surprised and tickled by the answer.
And, yes, well inclined to laugh now that Iâve got a belly full of tequila.
âSeriously,â Ivan says, smirking at me. âOnce he figures out that youâre rich and funny, too, heâs going to lock you in the basement and keep you for himself.â
âReally?â I say, looking at him with wide eyes.
âIs he going to lock you up? Probably, Fay, but Iâve seen that basement and you ââ
I giggle, but shake my head. âNo,â I say. âDo you really think Iâm funny?â
âFay,â Ivan says, smiling at me with disbelief as he tucks a strand of my hair behind my ear. âWho ever told you that you werenât funny?â
I shrug, considering it. âI donât know,â I say, shrugging. âMy sister is funny. I just always thought I was the...other sister.â
Fall For My Ex's Mafia Father ï¤Chapter 0102 Ivan cocks his head to the side, his attention fully on me as the bartender delivers two more shots to us. âWhatâs the âotherâ sister?â
âI donât know,â I say, looking deep into his grey eyes. âThe nerdy one. The dork.â
âFay,â Ivan says, shaking his head again. Then he leans forward, bringing his face close to mine, like heâs telling me a great and terrible secret. âYou are beautiful,â he says, placing a hand on the side of my face, brushing his thumb over it tenderly. âAnd youâre cute,â he leans closer then, placing a kiss on that cheek.
Iâm almost breathless when he brings his face back to where it was before, our noses almost touching.
âAnd trust me, you are funny,â he says, surprising me by not kissing my mouth and instead pressing his lips to my other cheek instead.
I canât help but smile back at him, as he looks at me levelly again.
âAnd yeah,â he whispers, smirking, âyouâre kind of a dork.â
I laugh uproariously at that, tossing my head back and shaking with the laughter that pulses through me. When I look back at him again, I can see him laughing just as hard, right along with me.
I almost canât believe it, how much fun Iâm having with Kentâs worst enemy.
Maybe Kent just has bad taste in men. Because Ivan is a blast.
We both pull ourselves back together, Ivan reaching for the drinks on the bar and handing me mine. I sip from it, staring at him, at his handsome face and the sexy pinup tattoo that wraps around his neck.
âYou donât think Iâm a dork,â I say teasingly, taking my sip from my drink. âBecause you wouldnât like a girl whoâs a dork,â I say, leaning forward, trying to bait him into coming closer. âAnd I think, Ivan,â I say, pausing and not bothering to stop the grin that stretches across my face. âI think you like me.â
âReally, Fay?â he asks, leaning forward again to bring his face close to mine. âDid you just figure that out now? The Ferrari across the road wasnât enough?â
