Chapter 1019
Spoiled by the President
Nevertheless, he had never seen the name âShawn Charringtonâ in the guest list. As he thought of this, Liamâs face fell.
âIâve never seen this name.â
Once he uttered those words, Mrs. Alfuth got caught off guard.
âHow could it be...â
Right at this moment, Uncle Ian seemed to have thought of something. He said, âIf you didnât tell me earlier, I wouldnât have noticed. Now that I think about it, it seems that I havenât seen Shawn today.â
At this point, the truth was very clear.
Gregory said solemnly, âIâm afraid I might have to trouble Mrs. Alfuth to contact your nephew.â
Mrs. Alfuth nodded instantly.
âSure, Iâll give him a call now.â
As she said it, she took out her phone to call Shawn.
However, when the number was dialed, there came a ringtone that signified the receiverâs phone was turned off.
The couple was dumbfounded at this moment.
âHow can he turn off his phone? Donât worry, Iâll call again.â
While reassuring them, Mrs. Alfuth made several calls to Shawn.
No matter how many times she dialed his phone number, the other partyâs phone remained turned off.
Right then, even Mrs. Alfuth started feeling panicked.
Seeing Mrs. Alfuth attempting to call him again, Nell stepped forward and held her hand.
âThereâs no need to call him anymore.â
She turned around to look at Liam. âHe might have either escaped or got into trouble. The Arcane Jade was just stolen, and heâs gone. Thereâs no such coincidence in the world. Liam, you have connections with people here and youâre familiar with the area as well. Send someone to locate him.â
Liam agreed by nodding his head. Uncle Ian quickly added, âIâll tell you several locations he usually frequents. You can send someone to those places first.
Later, the two of them walked to a corner to make a call.
At this side, Nell felt a little unbearable seeing Mrs. Alfuth looking pale and anxious.
Even though it was unclear whether the jade was taken by Shawn, but judging from the current evidence and situation, it seemed just about right that Shawn was the culprit.
Besides, he was the only one who had the key to the house, and now, he was missing.
The Alfuths had no kids, so they treated Shawn like their own biological son. One could imagine how sad they would be if they found out that Shawn was betraying them.
Nell sighed and walked forward to console Mrs. Alfuth. âMrs. Alfuth, donât worry too much. It might be a misunderstanding. No matter what, letâs find him first before taking the next step.â
Mrs. Alfuth nodded in agreement.
Soon enough, Liam had already arranged for people to find Shawn.
Mrs. Alfuth brought everyone to the living room to take a seat and had her maids serve them tea.
Realizing that she did not look well, Uncle Ian told her with concern, âIâm here. You can take a break from this. Go have a rest in your room. Iâll go upstairs and let you know if thereâs any news.â
Mrs. Alfuth shook her head.
âWith this thing going on, how can I fall asleep?â
She looked at Uncle Ian with eagerness and asked him, âWhat say you? Was the jade taken by Shawn?â
Not able to bring himself to bear the truth, Uncle Ianâs brows furrowed.
Eventually, he shook his head.
âI believe it wasnât him. But we need to locate him before we can know for sure.â
It was only then that Mrs. Alfuth nodded her head.
The people that Liam had sent to locate Shawn were efficient. It did not take long before they found the right person.
The only thing was that when they brought Shawn back, he looked particularly pathetic like a drowned mouse. He no longer had that personable look that he used to have from before.
He looked droopy and spiritless like a piece of limp lettuce. The shirt on his body was torn apart, his hair was disheveled, and there were some dust and bloodstains on his face. It looked like he had gotten involved in a huge battle with people.
When Mrs. Alfuth saw his appearance, she was stunned by it at that instant.
âShawn, what happened to you? Who beat you up?â
While saying that, she rushed forward and hugged him, feeling sorry for what he went through.
Shawn said angrily, âNo one beat me up. I got myself injured.â
âHow can you be in this condition if you got yourself injured?â
In the end, Mrs. Alfuth still cared about him deeply.
Shawn lifted his head and glanced at the several people who were present. The trace of his guilty conscience could be seen through his eyes.
âI...â He hesitated for a while before whispering, âI saw them coming to arrest me, and I wanted to escape, but I fell.â
Then, Liam moved forward to explain. âMy people have no sense of consequences when handling things, thus theyâve frightened Mr. Charrington.
Please forgive me, Mrs. Alfuth.â
It was only after his explanation that Mrs. Alfuth understood the situation.
She calmed down for a while. Then, her expression immediately became serious.
âShawn, tell me honestly. Did you take that jade from the safe box?â
Shawn was taken aback by that.
He probably never thought that the reason why his own aunt and uncle-in-law would chase after him so aggressively was because of the jade.
He forced out a smile but did not deny.
âIâm the one who took it.â
The next second, he quickly begged his aunt saying, âAunty, I really had no choice. I didnât want to steal your stuff. I was just borrowing it to pawn it off temporarily. When I have enough money, Iâll definitely redeem and return it to you.â
The look on Mrs. Alfuthâs face changed.
âPawned it? To whom?â
âA friend I know from my business.â
When speaking of this, Shawn seemed to feel guilty again.
Up until this point, how could Uncle Ian not know what had happened to Shawn?
Looking angry, he said sternly, âTell me everything from the beginning till the end!â
Shawn felt his heart tremble, realizing that it was impossible for him to keep fooling around today.
Although he did not recognize all of the young adults in front of him, he could recognize two of them as outstanding people.
There must be something important that these people would appear in his auntâs house today.
âCould it be due to that jade pendant?
âThatâs impossible. That jade pendant feels like nothing special except that its quality is good.
âEven if itâs a good gem, itâs not considered the most premium version of a good jade anyway.â
After processing his thoughts over this, he felt a little relieved.
Immediately afterward, he explained everything about the reasons why he took out the jade as well as the outcomes of it.
It turned out that Shawn Charrington had been working at Uncle Ianâs company previously.
However, he gradually grew more ambitious and was no longer willing to work for his uncle-in-law. He only wanted to get out there and start a business.

ï¤Chapter 487 The End Pt. 5 His parents were two ordinary individuals. It was only because of his nice aunt and uncle-in-law that he gained a lot of knowledge over the years.
It just so happened that Mrs. Alfuth and her husband had no kids and treated him like their own son. Seeing that he had the intention to start a business, they felt it was a good thing too.
Even though kids who depended on their family were obedient and great, he could show his capability if he could venture out on his own.
Therefore, the two of them gave him a large sum of start-up funds for him to explore his opportunities.
In the past two years, Shawn opened two film production companies. His business was flourishing to the point that he was too busy working every day to even be seen by anyone.
