Chapter 1034
Spoiled by the President
âNell, donât be afraid, Iâm here.â
Gideon reached out his arms and embraced her. He patted her back lightly and consoled her gently.
âTell me, did something happen?â
Nell did not say a word. She only hugged his waist tightly and buried her face in Gideonâs chest.
Around this time, since it was early, Cathy and Sean were still deep asleep.
When Gideon felt the trembles of the person in his arms slowly reduced, he held onto her shoulders and pulled her away slightly, then looked down at Nellâs face seriously.
Gideon could only see the woman in front of him had messy hair, her eye sockets were slightly red, and her face was unusually pale.
His brows frowned automatically.
Gideon lowered his head again and suddenly noticed Nell was not wearing shoes and her bare feet were touching the ground. Those small and fair feet were even whiter than the floor.
His face darkened.
âWhy didnât you wear shoes? Arenât you afraid of the cold?â
As he spoke, he carried her up before she could reply.
Nell did not move and just nestled in his embrace, allowing him to carry her.
When both of them entered the room, Gideon placed Nell on the bed and went to grab a towel. He carefully wiped her feet then squatted in front of her. He looked up toward her and asked, âTell me, what happened?â
This time, Nell was finally awake.
Her face still did not look too good, but it was much better than before.
She shook her head.
âIâm fine. I just... Had a dream.â
Gideon lifted his head and wiped away the thin sweat that appeared on her forehead.
âWhat dream?â
âJust some...â Nell frowned.
For some reason, the dream was really clear a few moments ago, but after a while, it all became a blur.
It was just like even though she knew exactly what she had dreamt last night, but when she tried to explain, she could not say a word.
As Gideon looked at her frowned brows and frustrated look, he could already guess her situation.
He said, âItâs okay if you canât remember. Since itâs a dream, itâs not real. No matter how scary it was, now that youâre awake, theyâve all disappeared.
So, donât think too much, understand?â
Nell looked at him. A few moments later, she nodded.
âAre you hungry? Do you want to eat something?â
Nell shook her head and pursed her lips. âI want to drink water.â
âOkay, then you wait for me. Iâll be back soon.â
Gideon stood up as he spoke.
Nell immediately grabbed his hand nervously.
When Gideon turned around, he could see the woman nervously gazing at him as though she was holding onto the last straw of her life.
Gideonâs heart sank.
Although he did not know what dream Nell had dreamt, that caused her to be terrified.
However, Gideon could understand the attachment she had for him was deeper than anyone else.
As a man, being loved by a woman whom he loved, Gideon knew he was blessed and lucky.
As he thought about it, Gideon smiled deeply. He suddenly bent down and cradled her again.
Nell was stunned and subconsciously asked, âWhat are you doing?â
âArenât you afraid?â
Gideon laughed mischievously. âSo afraid that I canât even leave you for a minute? So, Iâll just carry you downstairs to drink water.â
Nell stayed silent but her face instantly went bright red.
She hugged around his neck and struggled a little.
âDonât do this. Let me down.â
âNot letting you down.â
Gideon smiled and said, âWhat if you suddenly got scared again if I let you down?â
âSince when...â Nell felt embarrassed. However, she thought about the moment when she woke up alone in that dark room earlier. That unspoken fear kept her quiet immediately.
Gideon already knew what she was thinking when he looked at her.
His eyes deepened but he did not say anything and carried Nell downstairs.
When they arrived at the living room downstairs, Gideon put her down on the sofa and went to grab her a glass of warm water. After he saw Nell drank the water, he asked, âHow do you feel now?â
Nell licked her lips. âMuch better. Iâm fine now.â
âSo, do you still want to sleep?â
Nell looked at the sunlight outside and shook her head. âIâm not sleeping.â
âThen, weâll return to the room and get changed.â
As Gideon spoke, he carried her and walked toward their room.
When they returned to the room, Nell changed her clothes. At this moment, the fear in her had completely disappeared.
Gideon held her hand and walked out of the room together. Coincidentally, Cathy and Sean came out from their room.
When Cathy saw them, she laughed and said, âIt was raining last night. Did both of you hear it?â
Nell froze and shook her head. âNo.â
Since there were deserts everywhere, it was normal that it rarely rained here.
Nell did not think too much.
She went to the room next door to wake Lizzy up and helped Little Viemond who had just woken up change his clothes then brought them both to wash up. Once they were done, they walked downstairs to have breakfast.
The breakfast was prepared by the servants. Simple porridge and small dishes were not the specialties here but it was a breakfast suitable for Nellâs familyâs taste buds.
They chatted while eating.
Cathy started mentioning last nightâs show and suddenly asked, âOh right, who was the acquaintance you met last night? Did the person have any trouble?â
Nell shook her head.
âHe wasnât an acquaintance. When we were at the theatre last night, the person helped Lizzy when she was about to fall. On the way home, we noticed his car broke down on the roadside, so we stopped and gave him a ride.â
Cathy nodded. âSo, thatâs what happened. I actually thought he was Gideonâs business associate.â
Regarding the suspicion of Jefferson Flindersâ identity, Gideon and Nell still did not have any solid proof, so they did not mention it to Cathy.
However, after she mentioned this, Nell suddenly thought of an idea.
Therefore, after having breakfast, Nell made a phone call to Vickie and asked Vickie whether she had a photo of Jeff Flinders.
Vickie felt odd when she heard Nellâs question.
âWhy do you want a photo of him?â
Nell then told everything about last nightâs encounter to Vickie.
