As soon as Nell and the rest came in, the middle-aged man stood up.

Perhaps they hardly knew each other, but the man seemed a bit shy and awkward. Cathy did not know him either, so she stole glances with Nell and Gideon.

After introducing each of them, Spencer approached them and proffered a hand.

Gideon proffered his hand too and shook the man’s hand with a smile.

“You’re a legend in the field of botany, Mr. Nolan, and I’ve always wanted to meet you. I never expected that I’ll meet you today. It’s an honor, too.”

Sean chuckled. “Haha, both of you are the same, so it’s no big deal. Let’s have a seat.”

Then, all of them sat down on the sofa.

Finally, Cathy understood what was going on.

Earlier, Sean mentioned that he was not experienced at planting the Money Bead and he had to seek help from his good friend Spencer Nolan.

As the hostess, Cathy had to receive and entertain the guest.

When they reached the nursery, Sean opened a small door and the Money Bead that was planted in the jade box came into view.

As soon as Spencer saw the plant, his eyes lit up with enthusiasm.

Without saying a word, he strode towards it and bent over to examine the Money Bead.

Nell and Gideon stood aside and did not bother him.

Whereas, Sean stood next to him. He observed Spencer’s actions and asked, “Spencer, this is a precious plant, and the method of planting and nurturing it is one of a kind. See whether you’re able to reproduce it.”

Spencer raised a hand to interrupt him.

He kept quiet. Instead, he took out a magnifying glass from his shirt pocket and scrutinized the plant via the tool.

Everyone else regarded him with curiosity and wondered what he was up to.

He moved about and inspected the entire plant. Some time passed before he slapped his thigh without warning.

“Wonderful! Simply wonderful!”

The onlookers were confused. They stared at him and asked, “What is it?”

Spencer turned around.

They noticed that his face had been tinged with a reddish hue. He seemed to be emotional.

Sean listened to his thorough explanation and felt hopeful.

“Based on what you’ve said, do you have a way of growing another Money Bead? Take its fruit here, for example.”

Nevertheless, as soon as Sean made that suggestion, a deep frown appeared between Spencer’s eyebrows.

“I’ve never heard of the way to plant this thing. Moreover, this fruit is very rare. If the planting process isn’t successful, the fruit will be ruined. Are you willing to take the risk?”

“It’s a life-and-death situation, so we’re willing to.”

A smile crossed Spencer’s face.

“Fair enough. In that case, I’ll be staying here for a while to research the method of planting it. Once I’ve managed to discover something, I’ll let you all know.”

He made himself at home. Sean took one look at him and knew that the latter was somewhat hopeful about the outcome, despite his lack of comments.

After all, they were close friends who had known each other for years. Therefore, they understood one another well.

He said, “No problem. As long as you settle this issue for me, I owe you a big favor. If there’s anything you need in the future, just inform me.”

Gideon and Nell chimed in, “Us too.”

Spencer laughed and waved an arm. “No need, I can research it and plant it on behalf of you. But once it’s done, you must promise me one thing.”

Nell asked, “What is it? Tell us.”

“Once it’s done, you must allow me to take one of the Money Beads away as a sample for our research.”

Nell was stunned.

She glanced at Gideon, who nodded quietly.

Then, she smiled. “Alright.”

Spencer was overwhelmed with joy now.
