Chapter 1043
Spoiled by the President
At first, Gideon assumed that they would stay around for a little longer.
Nell laughed. âThey are old. After all, they are homesick and canât be away from home forever.â
âYouâve got a point.â
Gideon approached her and handed her a glass of milk.
Nell drank it and asked, âWhat time is it?â
â2:00 pm, still early.â
Nell nodded, paused, then asked, âIâm thinking, should we go home, too?â
Gideon asked, âWhen?â
âTomorrow. Iâve checked the weather reports earlier. Tomorrow will be a sunny day. Itâs time to head home after being away for quite some time. Lizzy has to go to school, too.â
âOk, do inform Mom and Uncle Miller during dinner.â
âMm.â
After agreeing, Nell brought up this matter during dinner.
Cathy was shocked when she realized that Nell would be leaving.
âLeaving? Do you find it uncomfortable here? Not used to it? Or any other reason?â
Nell grinned. âNo, itâs rather nice here. Itâs comfy and the meals are great. Thereâs nothing Iâm not used to, but weâve been away for quite a while and we have to go back one day. There are many matters to be taken care of at the company and Lizzy has to go to school. I came here to see the place you reside in and to find out whether youâre happy here. Now that I know you are, I feel relieved.â
Cathy seemed upset.
âBut I donât want you to leave.â
Ever since her amnesia, her personality had been naive and direct. She said whatever came to her mind.
As Nell listened, she felt a warm, fuzzy feeling in her heart and a smile appeared on her face.
âI know you miss me, and I miss you too. Next time, when youâre free, you can come back to the country to visit me. I want to introduce Grandma and Grandpa to you too. Theyâre good people. Right, Uncle, arenât you close friends with Juliette Garrett as well? Her brother is now the leader of the Garretts and sheâs a nice person. When you come back, Iâll introduce you to her.â
A fleeting sparkle appeared in Cathyâs eyes when Nell mentioned Juliette, but she eventually shook her head.
âForget it, I prefer not to meet these people. I donât remember many things in the past and Iâll have nothing to say when I meet them anyway. Might as well not meet them at all.â
Nell understood that Cathy had not fully accepted her past, so she nodded instead of pressuring her.
Cathy was at a loss for words when she could not stop Nell and her family members from leaving.
After dinner, she packed some items for them in silence.
Nell noticed her dismay. While everybody else went out for a stroll after dinner, she looked for Cathy, who was in her room and looked sad.
Cathyâs back was facing the doorway and she was arranging some items in her room.
Nell called her, âMom.â
Cathy turned around. Realizing it was Nell, she wiped away the tears at the corners of her eyes and smiled. âYouâre here.â
Nell did not expect her to be crying alone here. She stepped inside with a frown.
âMom, whatâs wrong?â
Cathy grinned. âNothing, I opened the window just now. Some sand got blown in and it ended up in my eyes.â
Then, she rubbed her bloodshot eyes.
Nonetheless, Nell knew that it was not the sand that caused her mother to cry.
She could not bear the idea of Nell leaving, thus she teared up.
Nell sighed quietly, held Cathyâs hand, and sat down on a nearby sofa.
âMom, do you miss us?â
Cathy regarded her daughter and nodded.
Nell looked at her with a tiny frown.
She never imagined that Cathy would feel this way.
Cathy seemed to realize that she was being pessimistic too.
She forced a smile and consoled herself. âBut itâs alright, I just need some time to get over it. After that, Iâll be fine.â
Yet, the more she behaved this way, the sadder Nell felt.
She reached out and hugged her mother.
After quite some time, she let go and said softly, âMom, why donât you come home and live with me?â
Cathy was taken aback and stared at her blankly.
âReally?â
A crease appeared between Cathyâs brows. She was troubled.
âI... I doubt heâll agree to it.â
âItâs ok, you can discuss it with him later. If you donât want to, Iâll speak to him on your behalf.â
Nell spoke and began to stand up.
However, Cathy caught hold of her hand. âEh, donât...â
Cathy paused, then chuckled.
âFine, Iâll talk to him, but...â
She bit her lip and seemed hesitant.
Nell noticed that she was still concerned and asked, âWhat are you worried about?â
âI...â Cathy sighed. âIâm just worried that Iâll affect your lifestyle. You do know that Iâm different from normal people.â
Nellâs expression took a solemn turn.
Nellâs words brought Cathy courage.
She tried her best to smile. âAre you sure that I wonât affect your lifestyle if I move in?â
