Nell was his world, his life, his soul. If something happened to her, he could not live on.

Not to mention that she had two children with him, if anything happened to either of them, the Leith family would suffer greatly.

Sean was not happy either. He had been hiding here for so long but this was a first.

Still, he did not blame anyone.

As soon as he heard that the two were missing, he immediately sent his men out to spread out and search for clues.

They deduced that there was no way they escaped by land since they had two live hostages and there was nothing but desert as far as the eye could see.

As for escaping by air, Sean had ordered his men to catch any suspicious people in the airport, so that escape route was out of the question.

Now that their escape options were cut off, they could only sit and wait.

Anxiety hit its peak while just waiting for news.

Sean eyed Gideon, asking, “Tell me, who is the one behind this?”

The man sat there with the coldest aura in the world, getting near would mean hypothermia. Gideon flatly responded, “Jeff Flinders.”

Sean was taken aback. “Jeff Flinders? When did he even get here?!”

Gideon recalled that Sean was not told of their previous encounter with Jeff and decided to tell him what happened that night.

Sean fell silent as he listened. “... if it is him, I’m willing to bet this is all for the Heavenly Jade Silk.”

Gideon laughed emotionlessly. “He’s already threatened Gregory to get it for him. What’s stopping him from threatening me?”

“I’m only guessing but, it might be as you said. He wants to find the remaining pieces of silk before the new year comes but with only a month left and three more pieces missing, his plans will be ruined if Gregory doesn't find them by then. Everything would have gone to waste. So he’s blackmailing more people to risk their lives for him.”

Gideon listened to Sean and frowned harder. He hated that what Sean said made sense.

Jeff Flinders did not seem like an impatient person but wanted Gregory to find him six pieces of Heavenly Jade Silk in three months. He should have one more now, which meant he was short of three pieces.

It was almost impossible to get so many in a month and a half.

The possibility of him finding one more person to “help’ was quite likely.

Still, it made no sense. If that were the case they would have contacted him immediately with conditions the moment Nell and Cathy were taken, but it had been eight hours without a peep from them, and Gideon was getting very restless.

At the time, Lizzy and Little Viemond were still unaware of what happened.

Viemond was still young and only knew that mommy was not home yet, so he kept asking Gideon where she was.

He did not want this to affect the kids, so he said that mommy had something to do and would be back soon before getting a maid to bring him downstairs.

Lizzy... was harder to placate. She was already nine and knew when something was wrong.

She could see that something had happened from their expressions. Based on what happened last time, she guessed that something happened to Nell, but she did not want to give her dad any more trouble.

Daddy was probably very worried about mommy, so she settled for staring at him tearfully.

“Daddy... will mommy come back?”

Gideon looked at Lizzy’s face and knew she had caught on to the situation.

He decided to not hide it and said, “Do you trust daddy?”

“Yes,” she resolutely nodded.

“Then you don't need to know anything else. Be good and take care of your brother. Daddy promises that mommy will be home safe.”

Lizzy looked at him for a moment before nodding and leaving.

Gideon would be lying if he said he did not feel his heart hurt seeing his daughter like this.

Still, the clock was ticking and he needed to focus on the matter at hand.

Sean saw this and stood up. “I can't keep waiting like this. I’m going out to find her myself.”

“Wait.”

Sean stopped in his tracks and stared at him. “Something better?”

The corners of Gideon’s mouth curled up. “Indeed.”

“Assuming Jeff Flinders is behind this, what is the most important thing to him?”

Sean paused. “What?”

“So what you mean is...”

“Hang on, let me call Gregory.”

Gregory was quite shocked to hear from him. Even though they were much closer now, it did not mean they contacted each other very often.

It was normally Nell that reached out to him and relayed the memos to Gideon.

Thus, Gregory saw his call and immediately asked, “Something happened, right?”

Gideon responded, “Jeff Flinders kidnapped Nelly and Cathy.”

“What?” Gregory was dumbstruck.

“Wait, how did this happen? What does he even want them for?”

“I don't know either.”

Gideon pinched the bridge of his nose. “Have you gotten the silk from Southern Yunnan?”

“Yes.”

Gregory and Vickie would never just leave Nell to die like that, so they immediately agreed.

“Alright. We’ll check the flights and rush over by tomorrow morning.”

“Okay.” Gideon paused and added, “I can't thank you enough for your help.”

Gregory let out a rare chuckle.

“It’s our fault Nell is in trouble. Save your thanks for another day.”
