Chapter 1076
Spoiled by the President
In the past, Gideon was always afraid that Nell would distance herself from him for hiding his secret but it seemed like that would not happen.
This finally put Gideon at ease.
Even though he was at ease, explanations were still needed.
When the night was dark and quiet, he pulled Nell over and honestly explained everything that happened that year to Nell.
So, Gideon was never a simple businessman from the start.
He had studied abroad very earlier on, but everyone only knew that he studied business management, when in fact, Gideon had secretly joined a military school.
While he was there, an Old General in the military saw potential in him and picked him as an information agent.
For this, Gideon was considered as the disciple of the Old General and due to his good performance, the Old General passed on the leaderâs role to Gideon after retiring.
The Old General also handed over the mission of capturing Jeff Flinders to Gideon.
Since then, the battle between Gideon and Jeff had begun.
Nell thought carefully and realized that it happened before Gideon and her met for the first time.
However, when she thought of the reason why both of them could meet, was it not because he met her in the midst of tracking Jeff Flinders?
It was because of how large this matter was and it included some elements that could not be explained by science, it must be kept confidential.
Since this matter was confidential, Gideonâs true identity had to be kept confidential as well.
Even X-organization, the organization of this matter, could not be known to others.
It was easy to notice how Gideon had to carry such a big responsibility alone in those lonely days.
No one could understand, and there was no one he could vent about this too.
No matter the problems he faced, Gideon had to carry everything alone. No matter how tired or how difficult it was, he could not say a word.
Suddenly, Nell did not resent him anymore. Instead, she felt sorry toward him.
She knew those days were difficult for Gideon to pass, but for the sake of the citizensâ safety, he had to persist.
After a long and almost ten years, he finally caught Jeff Flinders.
Since that was so difficult for Gideon, would Nell still be worthy of being his wife if she still blamed him?
Nell could not continue listening anymore as she hugged Gideon at once.
âAlright, stop talking.â
Gideon wrapped his arm around her shoulders and embraced her gently.
He let out a sigh and said deeply, âSorry Nelly, I shouldnât have hidden it from you.â
Nell only shook her head and replied after a second, âI donât blame you. I know you had your reasons. However, since Jeff Flinders is now dead, does that mean youâre not in danger anymore?â
She gently lifted her head and looked at his face. Gideon smiled as he reached his hand out and tapped her nose gently.
âHow can it be so easy? Danger will forever be in this world. After one danger has ended, another one will arise. How can it be gone so easily just because I said itâs gone?â
Gideon instantly stirred up the worries in Nell, and he could not bear to see her worried.
Then, he said again, âBut donât you worry. I will try my best to make sure Iâm safe. Donât forget, we still need to live till death do us apart.â
Nell laughed with a âpfftâ sound. She was touched and sad at the same time.
Holding onto Gideonâs hand, she said deeply, âYou need to be well. If anything happens to you, I will also...â
âIf anything happens to me, you need to continue living. Donât think too much and donât do anything silly, understand?â
Gideonâs tone suddenly became serious and stern, which made Nellâs nose turn sore and tears started to stream down her face.
Seeing her cry, Gideon was a little startled too.
He quickly comforted her. âOkay, okay, donât cry anymore. Itâs my fault. If you keep crying, Iâm going to be heartbroken.â
However, how could Nell control it?
She was pregnant, so her emotions easily fluctuated.
After listening to what Gideon had said, all she could feel was sadness kicking in. It sounded as if both of them could be separated at any time, so she could not control her emotions.
At this sight, he knew he had said something wrong.
In order for her to stop crying, he quickly corrected himself. âAlright, alright. I promise you. I will stay alive. I definitely wonât leave before you, okay?
âDonât cry anymore. If you continue crying before Iâm in any danger, I will die because of the pain in my heart.â
As the man continued to comfort her, he used his hands to wipe away her tears.
However, Nell could not control her emotions for a moment, so she cried even louder while she hugged him.
While she cried, door knocks could be heard from the outside.
Gideon froze a little and asked, âWhoâs that?â
Lizzy and Little Viemondâs bright voices came from outside.
âDaddy, mommy, what are you doing? Daddy, are you bullying mommy again? We can hear mommy crying.â
Nell felt awkward too. With a red face, she quickly wiped her tears away and pushed Gideon away before she headed towards the door.
When she opened the bedroom door, she did, in fact, see two little buns standing outside with serious faces.
Seeing that Nell had come out, Lizzy instantly pulled Nell aside.
Lizzy rushed into the bedroom as she spoke.
However, Nell quickly grabbed and stopped both of them. She just found this really funny.
The cloud of worries she had just now instantly disappeared.
She laughed and said, âStop saying nonsense, your daddy did not bully me! We were just talking just now! Itâs really late now, why are both of you still outside? Donât you need to sleep?â
Nell purposely made an angry face, acting all serious.
Who knew that these two little buns were already used to her temper, so they were not afraid of her at all.
Lizzy said, âI donât need to go to school tomorrow. By the rules, I can sleep later.â
Nell thought for a second and realized that was true too.
Tomorrow was the weekend and there was no school to attend, so she could sleep later.
Nell then placed her gaze onto Little Viemond.
Even though Little Viemond was only four and a half years old, he was already very mischievous.
When Nell heard his explanation, she could not help but laugh loudly.
She had lived for so long but Nell had never seen someone praise himself as a smart person, and with so much confidence too.
However, the two little buns were speaking the truth. They were both smart and kind-hearted children, with really high IQ and EQ. Nell usually did not even need to worry about them too much.
