Chapter 179
Spoiled by the President
Like an oncoming wave, the reporters advanced towards Celine.
âMiss Jennings, you refuse to answer our questions. Do you feel guilty now?â
âI heard you donât have a good relationship with your elder sister, but both of you will star in the same show. Was this your companyâs arrangement or was it your own decision?â
âFor the past five years, you have been getting lots of attention and always play the role of the female lead. However, this time, youâll be supporting a newcomer. What do you think about this?â
The reporters bombarded Celine with their accusatory questions.
Celineâs smile froze momentarily, then she resumed smiling.
She grinned. âYou all have so many questions. Which one do you want me to answer first?â
The crowd sank into silence. Everybody looked at each other and before they could react, they heard her soothing voice once more.
âFirst of all, I would like to apologize to everyone for what happened earlier. But, itâs not convenient for me to come clean as itâs a private matter, so I ask for your understanding.â
As she spoke, numerous cameras pointed towards her face and flashes went off here and there.
It was quiet and no one talked, for everyone focused on Celine.
Nell saw this scene and snorted silently.
Celine continued, âAn outsider will hardly understand someone elseâs private problems. I wonât go into the details of that incident. As for why I would appear in this show, does an actress judge a show not by its script, but its popularity? If everyone thinks so, Iâm sorry, but I donât agree with this notion.
âI believe that, as an actress, one should consider whether she likes that particular character and script while choosing a show to star in. As for the rest, those are matters for the team and the audience.
âMoreover, Iâve never thought that being the second female lead in this show will do a disservice to me. Ignoring the fact that I like the character and the script, Iâll still choose to act in this show even if the female lead is my elder sister.
âYou might have a warped view of me and my sisterâs relationship after the previous incident. In reality, issues between family members are very personal. Just like when youâre drinking water, youâre the only one who knows how warm or how cool the water feels.
âI feel that we donât owe the world an explanation. Weâve had a bond since we were children, and it isnât something that can be broken by one or two minor incidents.
âThus, seeing as my elder sister is interested in becoming an actress, I should give her my fullest support as her younger sister. I believe that, should you walk in my shoes, youâll also make the same decision.
âAs for why I refused to respond all along, Iâve always thought that weâre the only ones who are fully aware of the bond between us. It doesnât matter how much I explain, for those who refuse to believe me will never do so, while the ones who do never doubted me from the start.
âAlright, I wonât say anything else. I hope everyone follows our work! I also look forward to our first collaboration as sisters and Iâm sure sparks will fly.
Thank you very much!â
Celine Jenningâs speech was beautifully articulated. She was tender, gracious, and elegant!
The reporters, who were holding on to their microphones and cameras, were stunned. Little did they know that this was the answer they would receive.
Still, regardless of what she said, as long as she said something, it would sell.
As such, they snapped their cameras eagerly. One of the reporters even pointed his camera towards Nell Jennings, who stood behind the director quietly. The flashes were blinding.
Tim Coombs frowned.
He gave some instructions to a crew member beside him. After that, someone showed up and announced the end of the interview session. The actors had to begin filming.
At last, the reporters left.
Once the film set quietened down, Tim ordered his subordinates to bring the actors to their accommodation. After settling down, they would gather for dinner and then begin filming the following morning.
Their accommodation was a 3-star hotel. The surrounding was mediocre as it was located in the vicinity of the bustling studio. It was not exactly a nice location.
Due to the crewâs limited budget, that was the best they could offer. For the sake of convenience, two floors of the hotel were fully booked for them.
As a result, it was safer for them, too.
Nell was the female lead and her allocated room was not bad.
She was not accompanied by her assistant. Nancy was occupied with some matters for the past two days and would only arrive here after a few days. Thus, Nell had to do everything on her own.
Firstly, she unpacked her belongings and replied to Gideon's text, telling him that all was well on her side. After doing so, she picked up her handbag and exited her room.
When she left her room, it was already 5:30 pm.
The dinner would start at 6:00 pm and it would take place at a Lingnan style restaurant beside the studio.
Nell had just summoned the elevator when a voice appeared behind her. âElder Sister Nelly.â
She turned around and saw George Cap running towards her cheerily.
The young man donned a white casual outfit and his hair was neatly combed. He was joyful, handsome, and filled with zest.
Nell had a good impression of him. She smiled. âHeaded for the restaurant?â
âYeah, itâs almost time. Itâs better to head there earlier. Iâm worried that the director and the rest of the crew will have to wait if they are early.â
As he spoke, he shook his head sheepishly.
Nell chuckled. âI didnât know that youâre so courteous!â
George was two years younger than her and well-behaved. Naturally, she treated him like her younger brother.
She reminded him, âDirector Coombs isnât particular about such matters, but he would be stricter when it comes to filming.â
George nodded as he listened.
âI heard that there was an MV actor who cried when Director Coombs scolded him. Honestly, Iâm quite worried. I have never really acted in a film before and lack experience. Iâm not even sure whether I will do a good job.â

Plus, assuming you arenât good enough, Iâll be far worse. At least, you are formally trained. I donât have any formal training, yet Iâm not afraid, so what about you?â
George was amused by her words and felt a lot better.
âYouâve got a point. Donât you worry either. Till then, if anything happens, Iâll help you. Letâs support each other and weâll definitely do a great job!â
Nell smiled and nodded.
Both of them were chatting when the elevator doors slid open with a âdingâ.
Like a gentleman, George supported a hand on the doors and allowed Nell to enter the elevator before following suit.
The doors were about to slide shut when a cry resounded from outside.
âWait!â
Following that, a girl with childlike features blocked the closing doors.
She had most likely been running and was now huffing and puffing for air. She smiled at Nell and George bashfully. âSorry. Please hang on, more people are coming.â
George responded with a friendly nod and held the elevator doors open for her thoughtfully.
On the other hand, Nell raised an eyebrow. A wistful expression appeared on her face.
