Chapter 187

Spoiled by the President

Nell shook her head.

“It’s useless. They are hell-bent on slandering me and I’ll fall into their trap by hiding. Till then, when they find me, they’ll never believe me no matter how much I explain myself.”

“Then what should we do?”

Nell knitted her brows tightly and did not say a word. She ran toward the window and looked down.

“Ignore me and open the door. If someone asks, you must tell them that you haven’t seen me.”

“Ok, and you...”

Nell ignored him and rolled up her sleeves. She looked back and saw the two cups on the table and the leftover food from last night, then turned around to dump the food and cups into a bag.

At the same time, there were loud knocks on the door.

Anxious cries resounded from beyond the door. The people outside were certain someone was inside the room.

“Director Coombs, open the door! I’ve got a doctor here! Open the door now!”

“Director Coombs, are you ok?”

“Director Coombs, is everything alright?”

“Forget it, there’s no response. Attendant, open the door!”

Tim heard that and got startled. He charged toward the door.

Meanwhile, he felt a gust of wind on his back. He looked back and Nell was no longer to be seen.

A few of his crew members had entered the room.

Assistant Director Ken Fernandez was in front of the group while the hotel attendant stood behind the group with a keycard in his hand.

Everyone looked concerned but they were surprised to see a healthy Tim standing before them.

“Coombster? Are you ok?”

Tim frowned. “Why? Something wrong?”

“No, it’s...”

Ken was dumbfounded and took out his phone. “Didn’t you text me and say that you were unwell and was about to pass out? That’s why I got us all here immediately.”

Tim took the phone. There was indeed a text and the sender was himself.

His frown deepened and he went back to his room for a good look. Finally, he found his phone on his bed.

He went through his messages.

Surprisingly, there was a text sent from his phone more than ten minutes ago.

He was the sender and the recipient was Ken.

What... What the heck?

Ken was worried when he saw Tim standing there with a puzzled look on his face.

“Coombster, are you really ok? Don’t tell me you forgot about sending me that text ten minutes ago?”

Tim turned to regard him.

The crew members behind Ken also expressed looks of astonishment.

Tim’s face darkened. He gave it a thought and said, “I’m sorry, it must be a misunderstanding. I might have left my phone on my bed and pressed a button by accident, hence the text. I’m so sorry to make all of you rush here.”

Ken found his explanation to be weird.

However, since Tim had said his piece, he did not want to comment further.

He merely spoke in a caring manner, “Good to hear that. In case of any unforeseen circumstances, you must tell us. You’re the backbone of the team and if anything happens to you, the team will fall apart.”

Tim nodded.

One of the members behind Ken tried to scan every corner of the room.

Tim caught him doing so and asked, “What are you looking at?”

That man heard Tim and replied hastily, “Nothing, I just think there’s something fishy about this incident. Are you sure you’re fine, Director Coombs?”

Tim kept his cool. “I’m fine, you may leave.”

Ken nodded and led everyone else away.

After sending his employees off, Tim closed the door and felt gloomy.

He hurried toward the window and looked outside.

There was nothing outside, let alone a human being.

Tim grew nervous and wanted to phone Nell when the doorbell rang.

He was not sure who it was this time, so he replied impatiently before opening the door.

Nonetheless, when he opened the door, he saw Nell standing outside.

Tim was aghast now.

“Nell? Are you alright?”

Nell shook her head and darted her gaze around. Then, she lowered her voice. “We’ll talk inside.”

At once, Tim led her into the room.

Once the door was closed, Nell began searching around the room.

Tim approached her and asked, “How did you get out? Did you know how frightened I was when I didn’t see you outside the window? I thought you fell!”

Nell inspected the entire room and turned around to address him when she was certain there was nothing out of the place.

She regarded Tim with a grin. “Don’t worry, am I not ok now?”

Tim was still shaken by what took place and asked her anxiously, “How did you get out then?”

“It was nothing, I merely jumped to the windowsill of the room below. I was lucky as the guest of that room had checked out in the morning. The door was open and the room was waiting to be cleaned by a maid, so I headed outside boldly.”

She explained with such calmness but Tim’s eyes went wide with shock.

He went to the window and glanced down again, muttering, “Are you telling me that you leaped from here to the windowsill downstairs?”

Nell nodded.

Tim gulped and threw her a strange gaze.

“It’s about three meters, you’re... Amazing! I never knew that you’re so agile!”

Nell laughed without saying a word.

She switched the subject. “Tell me what you think of this incident!”

Tim’s expression became serious once more.

“No doubt, someone is trying to harm us!”

Nell nodded in agreement.

“First, they led me to your room, then drugged us to make us lose consciousness. Next, they scheduled a text message on your phone. The following morning, they informed the other crew members to come here.

“Had we not woken up earlier, they would have entered the room and caught us “sleeping together’. When that happens, no one will ever believe what we say.

“The best part of it is that the mastermind never showed her face. Even this morning, she used Assistant Director Fernandez and the crew members.

By doing so, her identity will never be revealed in case her plan goes south.”

Tim listened and his expression shifted.

“Whoever plotted this is wicked and diabolical!”

He regarded Nell with a frown.

“How do you think that person drugged us?”

Tim agreed with her actions. If not for Nell’s quick thinking, he would not have thought of this.

He recalled the people who had entered the room earlier. If anyone had purposefully removed or destroyed these objects, the evidence would be lost forever.

Then, rumors of his relationship with Nell would be confirmed as true.
