Chapter 220
Spoiled by the President
âCeline thought itâs enough to shut my mouth but little does she know that the mistakes she has made before were like a poorly patched up fishnet. It can never be fully amended.
Sheâll know by then how it feels to lose everything! Suffering a double loss is probably more upsetting than directly having your reputation tainted!â
Nancy could not help but shiver upon witnessing Nell say such cold-hearted words in a nonchalant tone. Even the temperature in the room seemed to drop by a few degrees.
âNelly, youâre scary.â
Nell raised her brows at the other person. âIt saddens me to hear that. Isnât it true that showing mercy to your enemy is being brutal to yourself?â
Nancy swallowed hard and nodded. âYes, I understand. The instructor said so in the training too.â
Nell flashed a smile. âThatâs good. Itâs getting late. You should go get some rest.â
With that, Nancy nodded and left.
The next day.
The online discussion reached its peak.
Nell had originally accumulated three million fans on her Weibo account. However, some of those fans had unfollowed her immediately after the interview of Celine was posted.
It did not matter how pretty Nell was, her toxic personality was not pretty!
It was one thing to disrupt her younger sisterâs relationship but another to blame it on the victim. How cruel must she be to do that?
Nonetheless, there were still a large number of them who held their ground.
They would not simply believe the rumors unless Nell stepped forward personally with a confession.
Besides, those words came out of Celineâs mouth, which made them even more unreliable.
As for the non-fans, some sided with Nell and some Celine.
While some people just enjoyed watching the drama.
Jennings Residence.
The Mortons father and son, as well as the Jennings, sat in the living room with tension filling the air.
âIâve already told you the conditions thus itâs up to you to accept it or not. I believe all of you know the importance of Celineâs reputation. You should weigh up the costs and benefits for this deal,â Thomas said.
Sylvia, who was overtaken by rage, smashed the teapot to the ground.
âWhat a lowly traitor!â
Shaun echoed.
âIndeed. Hasnât Mr. Morton given her three companies to shut her up? How can she still threaten us this time?
If we agree to her condition, doesnât it mean that she can continue to blackmail us in the future?â
Annoyed, Thomas looked at him as if the other person was an idiot.
It was evident to everyone who had initiated this whole battle.
Nell would not have to come so far if Celine had not spoken nonsense to the media during the interview.
Naturally, he could not express his opinion to this crowd.
He eventually replied in a deep voice, âLetâs speak first about the one condition she offered. I advise you to come up with a decision as soon as possible. Itâs only 10% of the stock, after all. Nell is part of the Jennings family thus she actually deserves this benefit.
Moreover, she canât make major decisions with this small portion of stock anyway. In other words, it shouldnât affect your family too much. But Celine, as a public figure, would suffer miserably if she gets labeled as the third party that ruins someoneâs relationship.â
Shaun was still unwilling to compromise.
âShe canât just say anything she wants! Who would believe her? She doesnât have any proof or a marriage certificate. Thereâs only so much she can do as long as Young Master Morton doesnât admit to any of her words.â
Thomas refused to comment.
It was Jason who finally broke the silence. âWell, weâve been together for six years. Iâm sure she can find evidence if she really sets her mind to it.
Texts, phone calls, presents, and... Mrs. Jones and her family as well could be her witness.â
â...â
Shaun was speechless.
Sylvia frowned.
âAlthough we managed to fool Mrs. Jones once, Iâm sure sheâll remember things if she thinks carefully. Sheâll definitely agree to help if Nell was to request for her assistance personally.â
Celine became flustered instantly upon hearing that.
âWhat should we do? Mom, we canât let her speak the truth! I donât want to ruin my career!â
Sally patted her daughterâs hand encouragingly as a helpless sigh escaped her own lips.
Simultaneously, Sylvia shifted her gaze to Thomas.
She remained silent but her seniority in age and experience equipped her with an invisible domineering manner.
Thomas averted her gaze quietly and an awkward expression flashed beneath his eyes.
Sylvia smirked out of the blue.
âOf course, we will not be rude when Chairman Mortonâs being so considerate to Celine. Weâll accept the offer.â
âMother!â
Shaun intended to interrupt the conversation but was stopped by a fierce glance from his mother.
She continued on, âTomorrowâs an auspicious day. Why donât we invite her over then for the transfer of stock ownership, as well as finalizing Celine and Young Master Mortonâs wedding? This could finally put an end to the whole incident. What do you think, Chairman Morton?â
Thomas tensed up.
On the other hand, Jasonâs face fell.
Spoiled by the President ï¤Chapter 219 Itâs A Deal After a while, the father laughed drily.
âOld Madam, isnât it a bit hasty to rush into settling their wedding?â
âNot really. Both of them are young. Have you heard of shotgun weddings? The two of them have been together for several years thus itâs not a hasty decision. This can take a load off my mind too. What do you think?â
A heavy silence fell upon the living room.
Celineâs face went slightly pale. Perhaps the other Jennings had no idea about the breakup but Sylvia must have detected something.
Maybe that was the reason she was anxious for the young ones to get married as soon as possible.
Celine glanced nervously at Jason. The latter appeared indifferent, not revealing the slightest bit of delight.
Then, a bitter feeling took over her heart. She was going to dismiss the suggestion since the man was obviously reluctant of the idea.
Unexpectedly, Thomasâs voice rang in the air. âOkay, theyâll get married in two days.â
Celine was entirely stunned.
So was Jason.
Both of them stared at Thomas in disbelief.
Thomas rose to his feet and extended his hand toward the Old Madam. âSince both parties have agreed on this, then we shall meet again in two daysâ time. My apologies to Celine for rushing into the decision but please donât worry, weâll definitely throw her a magnificent wedding after this passes.â
Just like that, Sylvia and the rest stood up to shake the manâs hand delightedly.
âChairman Morton, youâre too polite. Weâre going to be relatives soon after the wedding. Weâd have to trouble you for looking after our Celine.â
âDonât mention it.â
