Chapter 299

Spoiled by the President

Liam cocked his head and asked, “Anything?”

Joel smiled as he approached him. “Who were you talking to? And you had to talk outside as well?”

In return, Liam stared into Joel’s eyes without saying a word. His gaze was as deep and as enigmatic as the abyss.

Joel was fearless, so he was not afraid of Liam’s threatening gaze.

He moved closer and sniggered. “I overheard a few words just now, something to do with women. Tut tut, bro, don’t you assume that I’m unaware of the fact that you knew Ms. Hancock. Why? An old flame?”

Liam’s gaze became fiercer.

Joel shook his head and tutted again.

“Fine, it’s alright if you don’t tell me. But as a bro, let me remind you. Ms. Hancock has just given birth and she looks like someone with a man.

Beware, in case you get cheated by a woman.”

Liam’s lips twitched unexpectedly.

His eyes seemed to express mockery and disdain.

“I know.”

“Huh?”

“I said, I know.”

A wide-eyed Joel regarded him as if he saw a ghost.

“And you still like her?”

Liam frowned.

“Who said I like her?”

Joel laughed coldly.

“Hmph! Don’t think that I didn’t see it. While we were eating just now, you kept laying your eyes on her and never looked away. Do you assume that the rest of us are blind?”

Liam was at a loss for words.

He remained silent.

Before Joel could add a few words of advice, Liam spoked suddenly, “Yeah, I did look at her, but it’s not because I like her.”

Joel was surprised. “Why, then?”

“Because I’m her baby daddy.”

Joel was speechless.

Liam’s short and simple answer was like a bombshell to Joel.

After a while, he came to his senses and understood something.

He looked up and eyed the man opposite him in disbelief. On the contrary, Liam had on a calm expression as if he did not say those words.

What was more frightening was that Liam seemed to regard Joel with hostility.

Joel shut his mouth at once and put on an expression which said, “I don’t know anything, I didn’t hear anything, please don’t scare me.”

He paused, then spoke, “Uh... Nell and the ladies wanted to start a lobby and have a match. Do you want to join us?”

Liam did not play games and had no idea what he was talking about. He asked, “What match?”

“Oh, it’s a really popular game these days. If you want to join us, we’ll save you a spot.”

Liam considered it and agreed this time.

“Alright, I’m in.”

So, they headed back to the room.

Liam downloaded the game. To gather enough people, Tara and Gideon were pulled into the game as well. Then, they began to form teams.

As Liam and Tara were completely new to the game, they were split into different teams out of fairness.

Finally, Gideon, Nell, Owen, Janet, and Tara formed a team.

The other team consisted of Liam, Lucy, Simon, and Joel.

Once they were ready, the round began.

Nonetheless, Joel was seckilled by Janet.

Janet got a kill and laughed maniacally. Joel was annoyed but out of pride, he merely snorted. “Never mind, I’ve always been a gentleman. I’ll let the ladies win.”

Nell covered her mouth and roared with laughter.

Joel waited to respawn. Then, he declared, “Just you wait, Ms. Hancock. I’ll have my revenge.”

Unfortunately, as soon as he finished speaking, the Assassin played by Gideon leaped out of the bushes and struck him down again.

Shock overwhelmed Joel. He fumed with rage.

Janet and Tara giggled while he sat there and stared at his dead player in silence.

After a moment, he furrowed his brows, shook his phone and mumbled, “Huh? Why isn’t there an internet connection? Sis-in-law, why is the internet so bad here? My connection is lost. Sigh, Second Elder Brother, you didn’t kill me, did you? I’ve no connection and you can’t take advantage of me like that.”

Nell could not hold back now. “Shut up!”

An upset Joel grumbled, “Sis-in-law, I didn’t offer my head to you on purpose. The internet IS bad.”

A chuckle escaped Lucy too. “You drama queen! Just admit that you’re a noob instead of blaming the internet connection. It’s not willing to take the blame.”

Joel smiled sheepishly when he got exposed.

Then, he whined. “The Internet connection has always been poor. Years ago, I was a leading player on the national server.”

After that, his player cried in agony and died once more.

This time around, he was defeated by Tara, who played as a Support.

He was all out of excuses now, so he fixed a deadpan stare on his screen.

Tara felt puzzled and awkward. She glanced at him and said, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to kill you.”

Joel was speechless.

“How could you kill me if you didn’t mean to do so?!’

It broke his heart.

At the next second, Nell charged out of the bushes and tried to attack Simon. However, he was too fast. Liam, who wanted to defend Simon, was sacrificed instead.

Nell grinned. “Sorry, handsome.”

Liam quipped. “It’s alright. With a certain someone’s presence, we’ll never win.”

This was a direct attack on Joel and he nearly threw a fit.

He moaned. “Eh, why did you have to say that? Why are you ganging up on me?”

Liam threw him a sideways look and muttered, “Why do you have to be such a noob? Who else to gang up on besides you?”

“Pfft! You’re so rude. Looks like I have to prove myself to you all before you know how powerful I am.”

Gideon, who played as an Assassin, commented, “Hmm, fine. If you lose, you’ll run three laps outside... Naked.”

Nell sniggered. “I second that.”

At the same time, Lucy squealed, “Ah!!! Help me!”

It was too late. Her player was killed by Gideon.

She let out a sigh and shook her head.

Subsequently, her player was slain by either Gideon or Nell. Nell’s Warrior even killed Lucy’s player twice.

Lucy was so frustrated that she gritted her teeth. “Alright, you’re making me use my ultimate move!”

Owen laughed. “Miss Katz, it’s just a game, don’t take it so seriously.”
