Chapter 302
Spoiled by the President
Owenâs words brought Tara back to her senses. Only then did she realize that she had been staring at him and she blushed at that.
She lowered and shook her head but still found it funny when she thought about how lively he was earlier.
After a while, she said, âThereâs nothing on your face, I only feel that...â
Owen raised his eyebrows. âFeel about?â
Tara pursed her lips and smiled. âNothing, itâs just that youâve always looked stern and have been praised by others as a textbook, so I never knew your playful side.â
She lifted her head and looked at him with a twinkle in her eyes.
Owen was moved by her gaze and a strange feeling emerged but this feeling was quickly taken away by his rationale and he smiled shyly.
âPlayful? This is the first time someone has described me with this word!â
He thought about it and could not help laughing, explaining, âMr. John watched us grow up so weâre naturally closer. Thatâs why we can joke without having any reserves but it made you laugh.â
In a sentence, he returned to that gentle and polite appearance.
At the same time, it also distanced their relationship. Although still gentle and modest, it gave out an alienated feeling.
Taraâs heart dropped and felt a little uncomfortable.
She had been waiting for an opportunity since Owen came in.
Waiting for them to be alone.
She thought that as long as two of them were alone, as a man, he would mention that night.
After all, if that kind of thing happened and no matter who took the initiative, it was impossible for it to pass.
At least, both of them should reach an agreement on what that night meant.
Even if he said he was drunk that night and it was an unintentional mistake, she would accept it.
However, it seemed like the man did not want to mention anything about that night.
She felt dejected at the thought of that.
Perhaps on that night, she should not have...
Owen did not notice her expression changed and said, âI didnât greet you when I came in just now, Iâm rude eh?â
Tara drew in a deep breath and suppressed the sadness in her heart, forcing out a smile. âItâs alright, youâre fine.â
She did not lie. Compared to his politeness and distance now, she preferred his playful self a moment ago.
However, after thinking about it carefully, she was relieved at the thought that he would not simply show that side of him to anyone.
Owen did not notice her strange emotions, so he nodded.
The two of them stood there and were suddenly lost for words. The silence was inexplicably awkward.
Tara lowered her head slightly and she did not know what she was thinking. Lights shone above her head and her pale face had a warm glow. She was not considered to be extraordinarily beautiful, but she had pure goodness that could move hearts.
Owen took a glance at her and quickly looked away.
He was eight years her senior and could be her uncle therefore he would never develop any feelings for her.
However, why was his heart fluttering?
He drew a deep breath silently and felt that it was awkward for them to stand there, so he suggested. âItâs strangely cold here, why donât we go to the front? Itâs warmer there.â
It was originally just a courteous invitation, but it sounded different in Taraâs ears. She raised her eyes and took a glance at him, pursed her lips and nodded. "Okay.â
Her face blushed at that.
Owen caught a glance of her blushing face and was stunned.
Was she... Feeling shy?
He did not say anything out of the blue so what was she shy about?
She was just a little girl who had not grown up yet.
Owen could not help laughing and the slight throb in his heart disappeared because of that.
After all, he still had a bit of conscience. He could not bring himself to do anything to a little girl who blushed even when speaking to a man.
Back at the living room, Joel and Janet were not playing games anymore. Joel was sitting alone on the sofa, playing with his mobile phone with Lizzy where nobody knew what they were laughing about.
Nell and Janet were nowhere to be seen.
Owen walked over and asked, âWhere are they?â
Joel lifted his head and saw him, saying, âYou guys are back? Iâm not sure if they went out but second brother and sister-in-law are upstairs.â
Owen nodded. âThen please let them know that I need to leave first.â
He nodded at Tara as a greeting gesture.
Joel waved. âAlright, Iâll let them know later.â
Then, Owen turned around to leave.
Tara was stunned and suddenly thought of something. She quickly shouted, âSenior, wait a second, Iâll go with you.â
She quickly ran out.
On the other hand, Janet looked at the time and realized it was not early so she got up to leave.
When she was at the entrance, she was blocked by Liam, who was walking in.
At that moment, Joel was using his phone on the sofa. As the entrance had a partition and was a distance from the living room, he did not notice the two people at the entrance.
Janet looked behind and after making sure that Joel was not looking there, she turned around and frowned. âWhat are you doing?â
Liam said, âIâll send you.â
Janet forced a smile. âItâs okay, I drove so thereâs no need to trouble you.â

Liam frowned and held her arm. His strength was tremendous and Janet felt pain.
She frowned and said, âPlease let go.â
Liam had no expression nor did he let go but only said stubbornly, âIâll send you.â
Janet turned to look at Joel, who was still in the living room and hesitated.
She was unwilling to be in an entanglement with him in front of others to prevent others from finding out about them which would be troublesome.
Therefore, she could only nod and walk out.
She did not stop until she was outside. Initially, she wanted to walk faster and drive away as the man might not be able to catch up.
Unexpectedly, Liam was one step ahead and had instructed the servant to bring his car over, so when they reached the entrance, the car was already in front of her.
Liam opened the door and said coldly, âGet in.â
