Chapter 311

Spoiled by the President

Recalling the stunned look of Owen at the entrance of the convenience store, Tara felt confused.

Why was he there? How could it be that place? Who was he looking for? Was he looking for her?

Tara swallowed her saliva and after a while, she mustered the courage to climb to the window sill to look down.

Her eyes widened at the sight of what she saw.

It was Owen getting out of the car with a large bag of things and walking toward the entrance of her house.

Oh god! He came to look for her. What should she do?

Tara suddenly did not know what to do. She walked around in the house, not knowing what to expect next.

Before long, she heard the doorbell rang.

Sophie was cooking in the kitchen at that time. When she heard the doorbell, she went to open the door.

She did not know Owen and only saw a handsome young man standing at the door. Surprised, she asked, “Who are you looking for?”

Owen smiled at her politely. "Hello, you should be Aunt Garrett. I’m Tara's colleague and I’m looking for her."

Sophie froze for a while and only came back to her senses after a while where she nodded blankly. "Oh, you’re looking for her. She’s upstairs."

Then, she turned her head and shouted, "Tara, someone is looking for you."

After that, she smiled and staggered aside, saying, “Please come in.”

Owen nodded, smiled politely at her, and then brought the things into the house and put them on the table.

Finally after about waiting for about five minutes, he saw Tara slowly walking down the stairs.

She had changed into a white skirt and her long soft hair was draped over her shoulders, covering the little traces on her neck. When she raised her eyes and looked at him, she quickly lowered her head again with complex emotions within her timid gaze.

Previously when he saw that girl, Owen would not have any strange feelings.

However, after last night, his throat constricted and his body felt hot when he saw her again, especially her timid eyes like a frightened deer.

Owen secretly spat on himself in the bottom of his heart while cursing, “You useless savage!’

Nevertheless, he still had a calm expression. He stood up and smiled at her. “Tara.”

Sophie brought out some tea from the kitchen and had no idea what had happened between Owen and Tara but seeing her strange behavior, she asked, “What's wrong with you? Are you not feeling well?"

She was about to reach out and touch her forehead but Tara quickly took a step back and dodged it as if she was afraid of being touched by her.

Sophie’s hand froze in the air and a touch of hurt flashed in her eyes. However, she did not say anything and only whispered, "You guys chat, I’ll go and cook.”

Then, she turned around and left hurriedly.

Owen looked at the scene incomprehensibly and did not know if it was his illusion. He felt that the atmosphere between the mother and daughter seemed a bit abnormal.

However, he was an outsider so he did not ask much.

The two people standing in the living room felt a little embarrassed and did not know what to say for a while.

It was also Owen’s first time encountering this kind of situation in his life and he was lost for words.

After a long while, Tara said softly, "Why don’t... We go and talk in my room!"

Immediately, she turned and walked upstairs.

Owen looked at her back and thought if they chatted there, her mother might hear it and it would not be good, so he followed.

Upon entering Tara's room, he saw that it was in pink and white tones which were completely unfamiliar to him.

The room was not big and there were a lot of figurines and photos on the bedside and cabinet. Its color was warm and it was clean and comfortable.

Owen nodded with satisfaction.

When his eyes fell on something on the windowsill, he paused slightly and blushed instantly.

Tara also saw the same thing and she yelped, hoping to find a hole to hide in it.

She hurriedly rushed over to take the panties off the sill and stuffed it into a cabinet, saying, “I...”

Owen looked a little uncomfortable and said, "It’s okay, it’s just that I came here too abruptly. Sorry.”

Tara shook her head. How would she complain about him for coming too abruptly?

She had been staying at home since that night wondering if he would come over, thinking about how he would explain what had happened that night.

She was expecting him to come but then again, she was afraid that he would come as she did not know what answer she would get and she did not know if he would like her.

What should she do if he did not like her?

Tara's heart was in turmoil and on the other hand, Owen’s heart was too.

He looked at her and saw that she was standing there with her head bowed down. She was circling her fingers around her fingertips, looking very nervous.

He could not help thinking about how cute and innocent she was.

Such a simple and cute girl must be furious if something inexplicable had happened to herself.

Even if he wanted to bear the responsibility, would she be willing to and would she hate him? Would she hate him so much that she wanted to kill him?

If that was the case, he would not force her even if he could not let it go.

He was already guilt-ridden about what had happened to her last night. Therefore, no matter how sad and reluctant he was, he would not let her suffer any more grievances.

Both of them were holding their own thoughts in their hearts. They stood there without speaking for a long time.

Finally, Owen could not tolerate it anymore, so he coughed slightly to break the silence first.

"That... Incident about last night.”

However, before he got to finish what he wanted to say, there was a knock on the door.

Sophie's voice came through the door, "Tara, what are you guys doing in there with the door closed? Come out for lunch."

There was also some awkwardness in Owen's eyes.

When Tara saw that he looked shy and embarrassed, the anxiety and sadness in her heart eased. Then, she pursed her lips and smiled. "Why don’t we have lunch first and talk about it later.”

Owen did not say anything and nodded.

Only then did Tara walk over to open the door. Sophie saw the two of them coming out and looked at them suspiciously, feeling a little strange.

Nonetheless, considering her daughter's attitude for the past two days, she did not say much.

The three of them came to the dining room to have lunch. Mr. Garrett was out socializing, so he was not home, therefore only the three of them were at the table.

The atmosphere was a little silent for a while and when Sophie saw it, she asked, "Tara, isn't this your friend? Why don't you introduce him to me?”
