With a smile on Owen’s lips, he pushed the door open and went in. He saw a girl in a white sweater standing by the window, her thoughts hidden from him.

He coughed softly and walked over. “What’s wrong?”

Owen hesitated for a moment before asking, “Why are you unhappy? Is it because...”

When he finished speaking, Tara suddenly turned around and looked at him. Her gaze was very complicated.

Owen stalled and looked at her, not knowing where to start.

He did not like her. To him, what happened last night was nothing more than an unintentional mistake that was over and done with.

He came to apologize to her, hoping that she would forgive him, and then what? The two would then go their separate ways and never see each other again! Why else would he be silent?

The girl’s eyes gradually grew red. Owen looked at her reddened eyes and his heart clenched again, making him feel very stifled and uncomfortable.

Tara did not look at him and answered coldly, “I got it.”

Downstairs, he saw Sophie sitting in the living room as if waiting for something.

He walked over and said politely, “Auntie, I have something to attend to, so I’ll be leaving now.”

Sophie turned and looked at him in surprise. “You’re leaving so soon? Stay and play a little more. You can join us for dinner later too.”

Owen shook his head. “No, an emergency happened at the hospital. I won’t bother you any longer.”
