Chapter 332
Spoiled by the President
Ulric smiled, hugged Janet, and patted her on her back.
âIf you really want to thank me, donât argue with Dad when you see him next time. Youâre no longer a child and already a mother, so you should know better.â
Janet felt a lump in her throat and an urge to cry began to form. She nodded with tear-filled eyes.
Ulric came back quietly halfway and had to rush for a meeting at the hotel thus he did not stay around at home for long and left after exchanging a few words with Janet.
Janet had retrieved the contract. To avoid an argument with her father when he discovered this matter at night, she decided not to linger at home.
Therefore, she headed to her room to pack up and prepared to leave.
Nevertheless, she had just finished packing when a maid called her from outside, âEldest Young Lady, you have a visitor.â
This took Janet by surprise. She had never thought that someone would look for her at this hour in Jincheng.
Apart from the fact that her return this time was a secret, she did not go outside during the day and few visitors were aware that she was back.
Moreover, she maintained a low profile and her old friends and classmates would not have learned about this.
As she wondered, heavy footsteps appeared from beyond the doorway.
The sound was followed by light raps on the door.
Janet did not expect the maid would lead the visitor to her room and frowned unhappily. She was about to open the door when someone pushed it open. Then, a familiar figure stood at the doorway.
Her eyes widened in shock.
Liam?
Why was he here?
My god!
Janetâs eyelids twitched and she rushed forward. She wanted to slam the door shut before the man could enter her room.
However, it was too late.
The man gripped the door and pushed it open with a bit of force.
âLiam Jackman? Are you crazy? What are you doing here?â
Janet panicked.
Still, Liam did not say a word.
He pushed the door open then strode forward. He kept his distance. With an unfriendly expression, he regarded her coldly.
Under his stare, Janet felt guilty.
Aside from Karen and Nell, nobody else knew of her return to Jincheng.
As such, Liam was kept in the dark, too.
Old Madam Griffin only stayed around for a short while and had returned to Country F. As a junior, Liam must send her off.
Thus, before he left, Liam had told Janet to stay put in the villa and she was not allowed to go anywhere until he came back.
Unexpectedly, as soon as he left, she came here.
Judging by Liamâs temper, she knew how angry he must feel.
Then again, Janet thought that she was not to be blamed!
She had her own issues to take care of. Besides, he was not her guardian, so she was not obligated to obey him.
She lifted her head to look him in the eyes.
The man said with an icy tone, âIâve traveled a long way. Arenât you going to let me in?â
Janet could not reject him now.
She merely stood aside and allowed him to enter.
When Liam stepped inside the room, he carefully observed the deco instead of speaking.
The room was cozy yet luxuriously decorated.
As the only daughter of the Hancock family, Janet was spoilt by her father and elder brother ever since she was a little girl. In spite of the absence of her mother, her life was as good as a girl who came from a functional family.
Once Liam was done with his observation, he settled down on the bedside sofa.
Janet was rather nervous, especially when she knew that this was the Hancock household and people would come home anytime and expose his identity. Her heart thumped rapidly.
After a momentâs silence, she mustered her courage and asked with a stutter, âWhy... Why are you here?â
Liam replied, âDonât you know the reason?â
Janet avoided eye contact with him. She kept her head lowered and said softly, âHow should I know?â
âHa!â The man laughed in a rather sarcastic manner.
His laugh stirred up Janetâs anxiety.
Liam had been accompanying her and the baby. Although he did not exactly have a good temper, overall, he had never treated her badly.
Sometimes, she felt as if they had traveled back in time and returned to the good old days which they spent together.
Hence, she was guilty of the fact that she left without telling him.
Without smiling, Liam lowered his voice, âHad I not looked for you, were you really going to leave and never come back?â
Janet shuddered at his question.
She slowly lifted her head and looked at his charming face. Fury began to cloud his expression.
She was even more troubled now.
âNo, Sunny is still there and I have to return anyway.â
âJust for the child?â
Janet was silent.
She did not know how to respond to the manâs interrogation.
No matter what she said, her answers did not seem acceptable.
An indescribable feeling of bitterness spread within her.
âSo? What else do you think I should go back for, Young Master Jackman?â
A sardonic laugh began to escape Liam.
âVery well, Janet Hancock. Iâve been too liberal and forgiving toward you and now, youâve forgotten who you are!â
Janetâs expression turned to one of pure horror.
At the next second, her chin was grabbed and her entire body was forced against the door.
A deep crease emerged between Liamâs brows as he glowered at her as if he wanted to devour her. He gritted his teeth. âIf you werenât the mother of our child, youâd have died a thousand times.â
Janetâs chin hurt and she tried to explain herself.
However, she merely paused and then switched the subject.
She stared at him intently. âYeah, you believe that I should die. Iâve betrayed you and lied to you. In this case, why are you here for me?â
Liam was taken aback.
Janet grimaced. âI confess that I did you wrong five years ago, but Iâve already made amends within these five years!
âToday, itâs the Griffins who donât accept me. Itâs not like you donât know that you canât leave them for me! Can you give up the family and your future for me? No, you canât! See, this is the greatest challenge that lies between us.â
âI know full well what kind of man I am and my background. You were the one who offended me that night, yet you expect me to be responsible for the outcome?â
âLiam Jackman, Iâve lost everything. Iâve lost my career, my life, and my family, all because I fell in love with you!
âAnd you? Youâre still the high and mighty Young Master of the Griffin family. Youâre still the President of the Griffins. You can still hold your head up high.

âLiam, you keep saying that I shouldnât leave you, but have you ever thought about why I left?
âIâm really tired and I beg you to let me go! Set me free and set yourself free!â
