Chapter 335
Spoiled by the President
Janet wept.
Her tears were like a broken string of beads that rolled down her cheeks.
It felt like there was a great weight on her heart. She had an uneasy sensation in her chest and an indescribable feeling spread across her, resulting in the trembling of her body.
Liam sighed and hugged her.
Janetâs sobbing became more intense. She tugged at his shirt and buried her face in his arms as she cried like a child.
It had been five years. They spent four years apart and had a wild night one year ago. Later, she gave birth to Sunny.
She was tired of all the disputes and entanglement with Liam.
She wanted to give it all up. Nowadays, she just wanted to go to some faraway place with her child and live a quiet life. She refused to get involved in love affairs again.
For this, she even gave up her identity as the Eldest Young Lady of the Hancock family and her fatherâs love.
Yet, Liam brought up this request at such a time.
Did he harbor other intentions?
Did he want to stop her from living a good life by rewarding her after hurting her, so that she could not give up hope in him entirely? It was like she was the fish and he was the fisherman who had his hook on her.
On what grounds did he want her to agree to his request?
Was it just because he still had some feelings for her?
Janet cried loudly and pitifully. She began punching him with her fists.
Instead of retaliating, Liam stood still and allowed her to hit him.
After a long while, Janet got tired from crying and the tears stopped flowing.
She was about to pull herself away from his arms when the man placed a hand behind her head and planted a kiss on her lips.
Janetâs heart skipped a beat as she grasped his shirt tightly. She felt like she had turned to mush.
Some time passed before Liam let her go. He took out his phone and made a call.
âChet, get the car ready and also the documents needed for marriage registration. Then, wait for me downstairs...â
Janet was bewildered. Before she could react, the man had given his orders and hung up.
She asked nervously, âWhat are you doing?â
Liam kept his phone and eyed her seriously.
âJan, will you marry me?â
Janet was speechless.
âWeâll disregard other matters and get married straight away, alright? Weâve always had our families and those entanglements in the past to consider, thatâs why there wasnât a positive outcome for us and we got tired. Weâre adults now and Sunny needs a proper family. So, letâs not think too much.
Once we get married, every problem will be solved. Do you agree?â
Janet was stunned. It took her some time before she shook her head.
âNo, no.â
âWhy not?â
Her expression shifted subtly and her heart sank.
âLiam Jackman, why are you proposing to me now? Donât tell me itâs because you love me. I donât buy it.â
Liamâs expression sank as well.
He stared at her and the hint of resentment in his gaze began to reappear. Still, he tried his best to suppress it and he asked, âWhat do you think is the reason, then?â
Janet tightened her lips and remained silent.
All of a sudden, Liam laughed.
He reached out his hand to stroke her face and said in a calm and deep voice, âJan, you hurt me five years ago, so I abandoned you for four years as an act of revenge. That night, a year ago, you came to look for me willingly. Are you going to hurt me and abandon me again today?â
Janet shuddered.
She clenched her fists and her nails dug deep into her palm, causing an unpleasant sensation.
Immediately, Liamâs gaze hardened as he eyed her.
âBut today, Iâm no longer the same person from five years ago, so I wonât allow you to leave. No matter what happens, you must marry me, understood?â
Janet opened her mouth and wanted to say something, but gave up.
Liam tapped on her cheek lightly in a satisfied manner and said, âIâll love you, Jan, just like how you loved me last time.â
Janet was at a loss for words.
A few minutes later, Liamâs phone rang. It was from Chet and he accepted it.
âYoung Master, everythingâs ready.â
âGood, Iâll come down now.â
Then, he led Janet out of the room.
The maids did not recognize Liam and found it strange when they saw him leading Janet out.
Janet knew that whatever happened today had happened. She was aware that this manâs intentions were not pure, so she felt skeptical and wanted to reject him. Logic told her that once her father returned, he would give her hell. After all, there were so many maids at home and she could not hide Liamâs arrival from him.
Nevertheless, another voice inside her was cheering ecstatically. It started as a small spark that transformed into a huge flame that consumed her rationality.
Soon, Liam brought Janet to the entrance of the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
The officers had been informed earlier, so they were well-prepared when the couple had arrived.
They signed the marriage certificate and took a photo.
In less than twenty minutes, the marriage registration was settled.
When she left the Ministry of Civil Affairs, she got into the car and looked at the certificate in her hands. Janet still thought that she was in a dream and everything felt unreal.
It was simply unbelievable.
At the next moment, her hands were empty as the marriage certificate was snatched away.
She was surprised and stared at the man beside her in confusion.
âWhat are you doing?â
âIâll keep it for you.â
âWhy?â
âStop asking why.â
The man cut her off and kept both certificates.
Janet was speechless.
Why did it feel like she had just leaped into a chasm?
She recalled Liamâs current status and a sense of relief came to her.
She asked cautiously, âIs... Is this legal in our country?â
Liam threw her a sideways glance.
âWhat do you think?â
Janet kept quiet.
Fine! She had been duped.
Did he cast her spell on her when they were at her house just now?

Janet felt helpless.
Perhaps it was due to her complicated emotions, but the journey back home seemed much quicker. Soon, they were back at the Hancock Villa.
Janet wanted to get out of the car, but Liam stopped her.
After a while, the assistant known as Chet came over with a piece of luggage in his hands.
âYoung Master, the item is here.â
Liam nodded and told him to put it in the trunk. After that, the car sped away.
Janet was astonished.
âLiam Jackman, whatâs the meaning of this? Why did you take my luggage?â
Liam drove and twitched his lips.
âWeâre married now. Shouldnât you change the way you address me?â
Janet gulped.
