Chapter 397
Spoiled by the President
Nell was slightly embarrassed.
Could she say that she was going to buy it for collection?
Gideon said indifferently, âThatâs not something you need to worry about, Miss.â
Joanne Nolan choked again.
She had never expected that this man would have an iron heart iron and refuse to budge for her.
Rather, it was Nell who grew embarrassed.
As she was about to say something, Joanne sighed and said, âSir, to tell you the truth, this jade hairpin is actually a birthday gift that Iâm going to get for my sister, who has been seriously ill for many years. I heard that wearing jade ornaments is good for health, and my sister has seen photos of the jade hairpin and likes it very much, so Iâm hoping you could be magnanimous.â
Seeing her emotional expression, Nellâs heart could not help but clench.
It was just a hairpin, and Nell was buying it for fun instead of using it.
However, Joanneâs sister was seriously ill in bed. If she liked it so much, then she could have it!
Thinking so, she pulled the manâs sleeve.
âGideon...â
Gideon knew what she wanted to say and so, he frowned.
He then looked mockingly at Joanne.
âSince youâve said so, then go ahead!â
Joanne was so surprised and happy when he finally let go.
âThank you. By the way, whatâs your name? If thereâs an opportunity in the future, Iâll definitely visit you to thank you for your kindness today.
However, Gideon did not reply.
Nell grew embarrassed.
She tugged on his sleeve again.
âCome on, this is a public place. Cut the girl some slack.
âThere are so many people watching. Itâs so embarrassing.â
Gideonâs handsome face was somewhat gloomy when he said, âGideon Leith.â
Joanneâs eyes instantly lit up at the name.
âYouâre... Gideon Leith? Youâre the current head of the Leith family, one of the Four Great Clans?â
Gideonâs brows furrowed deeper as he nodded.
âHello, itâs a pleasure to meet you. My father and I have always admired you. Iâve never expected to meet you here.â
Her gaze then fell onto Nell beside him. âYour wife is really pretty. Sheâs so fortunate.â
Gideon agreed with this statement. âThank you for the compliment, but youâre wrong. Having her is my fortune.â
Joanne stalled slightly as the smile on her face stiffened.
âIn that case, I wonât bother you any further. Thank you.â
With that, she turned and went back to her seat.
The jade hairpin was eventually bought by Joanne Nolan.
Noticing that the manâs expression beside her seemed a little unpleasant, she thought that he was angry about what had just happened. She whispered, âAre you angry? Come on! It was just a hairpin.â
The man ignored her.
Nell was shocked.
Was he really angry? With her?
After all, the two had been together for so long. This outwardly stern and cold man had always been gentle and soft to her, giving in to whatever she wanted. Except for what happened before, when had he ever been angry at her?
Yet, he was mad now because of a hairpin? That was impossible!
He was not such a petty man!
Nell could not understand and so, she looked at Joel Foster for help.
Joel covered his mouth. He had been laughing so hard, that his body was shaking, for so quite awhile now but Nell had no idea what he was laughing at.
She became a little annoyed.
It always seemed like these two people were hiding something from her, acting as if they knew something she did not.
Her face darkened and she said in a low voice, âJoel Foster!â
Joel finally could not hold back as he laughed out loud. He did not dare to laugh too much since they were in a public space, but it was a long time before he stopped laughing. âLittle sister-in-law, do you know who that woman was just now?â
Nell was confused. âDidnât she say her name was Joanne Nolan? She said she was the daughter of some general from Country T.â
âHahahaha...â
Joel held onto his tummy as he laughed.
Nell was speechless.
Was that so funny?
Only after while could Joel restrain his laugh. âGeneral Nolan from Country T had his body âpurifiedâ when he was young because of a war, so he couldnât even marry a wife. How could he have a daughter?â
Nell paused.
âNo way! Youâre saying that she lied to us?â
âThatâs not necessarily true. Itâs just impossible for him to have any biological daughters, but he can have as many goddaughters as he wants.â
Nell finally understood.
âOh, I see. But why are you laughing? It is really so funny that sheâs General Nolanâs goddaughter?â
Joel said, âI wasnât laughing at her identity, but how eager you were to push Second Elder Brother out. Be careful you donât cry your eyes out in the future.â
Nell frowned. She roughly understood what he meant, but she still felt like something was not right.
âHmph, do you think everyone is like you, pasting yourself on every beautiful woman in sight? Our Deon isnât like that.â
Her words seemed to have pleased a certain man, especially the phrase âour Deonâ.
Gideon then reached out to squeeze the back of her neck. âEven if Joel doesnât approach her, sheâll do it herself. That woman has many tricks up her sleeve, so donât get involved with her.â
Nell was stunned. âWhy?â
Gideon frowned as if unsure of how to explain it to her.
Joel could not help but interject, âDo you know how many goddaughters General Nolan has?â
Nell shook her head.
She had never heard of this General Nolan until today. How would she know how many goddaughters he had?
Joel gestured as he said, âTwenty-eight.â
Nellâs mouth fell open in shock.
Though it was said that a goddaughter could not be compared to a biological daughter, but twenty-eight? That was too much!
Joel continued, âAlthough theyâre called his goddaughters, the truth is that theyâre just tools raised by that man Benjamin Nolan to win peopleâs hearts.
âThese women have been trained by him since they were young, learning all kinds of techniques to please men. When theyâre old enough, theyâll be brought out and used to woo military, business, and political leaders from all walks of life.
âHow many people do you think have fallen victim to his tricks over the years and ended up as a stepping stone to him? Hmph, sheâs still too young to use such tricks on Second Elder Brother!â
Nell was stunned.
Spoiled by the President ï¤Chapter 396 He Was Very Rich Wrong Ride, Right Lover ï¤Chapter 1980 Atrophy of Love: Mr. Harris, Stop Fooling Around!
How could something like that be true?
That was too despicable!
However...
She looked at Joanne Nolan with some suspicion before turning back to Joel. âCan a woman really have that much influence? That sounds pretty mysterious.â
Joel laughed and said, âDonât underestimate women. Just look at our wise and brilliant President Leith. Didnât he fall straight into a womanâs palm willingly after meeting his true love too? Isnât there an old proverb, âpeople who die under a skirt would still continue to flirt as a ghostâ. Those words arenât a lie.â
Nellâs expression darkened slightly as she glared at him.
What kind of stupid proverb was that?
She was not one of those women with hidden agendas!
Gideon said in a low voice, âThatâs enough! Shut up.â
Joel pulled a face before zipping his mouth and stopped speaking at once.
Nell thought to herself, âSince that Joanne Nolan was so scheming, she might not have been telling the truth earlier when she said her sister was seriously ill.â
However, before she could think too much about it, a pair of crescent-shaped diamond earrings caught her attention.
