Chapter 43
Spoiled by the President
Nell and Gideon entered the villa very quickly, and they were greeted with a wide lake after they walked past the rockery.
Under the night sky, sparkling ripples on the lake reflected the street lights and the moonlight. At one glance, the end of the lake could not be seen.
The doorman guided them up the stairs into the lobby, then they took the escalator before they arrived at the private room that was booked.
Moon Lake was the name of the private room, and it somewhat matched the artistic mood at that moment.
The private roomâs interior was finely arranged. It had an antique design, but some details were blended with modern scientific designs, giving customers a more comfortable experience.
A huge window was situated due south in the room, and it faced the lake. By standing in the position, one would have a broader view of the lake than if one looked at it from downstairs. In fact, the lights on the stone arch bridge, which was a distance away, could also be seen. The dazzling lights and the refined scenery were simply spectacular.
Nell remarked with a smile, âThe scenery here is beautiful. I like it a lot.â
Gideon curled his lips into a smile.
He had picked this place because he had researched her preferences.
Following that, the two of them got seated and ordered some dishes.
Again, the flavors of the dishes were to Nellâs liking.
She was shy because of how considerate the man was, and she always felt like she was taking advantage of him but could not repay him in any way.
All of a sudden, Nell thought about Simonâs case. She had searched it on the internet in the afternoon when she waited for the artistes to return.
Simon published a post on Weibo according to Nellâs instructions, and the response was great.
Although there were no exact results yet, Nell was confident that the case would be resolved perfectly as long as her plan was carried out smoothly.
Therefore, she assured Gideon. âYou donât have to worry about Simonâs case; Iâve already started to handle it, so itâll be completely settled soon.â
Gideon looked at her with a smile and remarked softly, âWhy do I feel like Iâve not only found a great wife, but also a great helper?â
Nell was startled.
A thought crossed her mind at that instant.
She did not say anything when she glanced at Gideon, but she secretly made a decision.
Once they were done eating, Nell excused herself to go to the toilet.
There was actually a toilet in the private room, but she was embarrassed to use it because it was not well soundproofed.
The public toilet was located at the end of the corridor, which was next to the elevator. After leaving the private room, Nell headed to the womenâs public toilet with help from a waiter, who showed her the direction.
As soon as Nell came out of the toilet, she noticed familiar figures walking in her direction.
Feeling stunned for some reason, she took a step back.
With that, she happened to be hiding behind a dragon-patterned pillar at the toiletâs entrance.
Jason Morton and Celine Jennings were the ones who were walking toward her, and they were accompanied by a middle-aged man in black-framed glasses.
Nell recognized the man right away. He was their countryâs famous A-list directorâGareth Leith.
The three of them conversed happily.
Gareth laughed and said, âYoung Master Morton, I previously heard you have a beautiful wife, but I didnât know who it is; I finally know that itâs Celine.â
Jason replied to him with a smile, âDirector Leith, thank you for looking after Celine all these years. I look forward to a pleasant cooperation this time.â
âOf course. I watched Celine grow, and she has great potential. Sheâll surely become the youngest best actress in this generation.â
Celine grinned. âThank you for your blessings, Director Leith.â
âI worked on the script for âHidden River: Ashleyâ for years and it carries my blood and sweat, so you mustnât let me down, Celine!â
âDirector Leith, donât worry, Iâll definitely do my best to interpret the character, and I wonât disappoint you.â Celine nodded obediently.
âThatâs great... Iâll be at ease.â
The three of them eventually walked past Nell.
Nell was thin, and she wore a black outfit today, thus nobody noticed her when she hid behind the pillar, which was a dimly-lit spot.
She only walked out when the three people entered the elevator.
As she watched them leave, she furrowed her eyebrows a little.
Nell had read the script for âHidden River: Ashleyâ by chance in the past.
She immediately developed a strong liking for it.
Since dramas were mostly male-dominant in this generation, even if there was a heroine in an ancient drama, her parts would mainly be in the chambers for the imperial concubines.
At the end of the day, the story would revolve around a few ladies fighting over a man.
However, âHidden River: Ashleyâ was a different drama. It was truly a womanâs epic, and the story about war, peace, and the alteration of dynasties was fully depicted from a womanâs standpoint.
Nellâs blood burned with passion after she read the script.
She saw entirely different values from the drama.
Women were not merely bound to love, and if given the same resources and status, one would not be inferior to men.
Unfortunately, the scriptâs structure was too big because it involved six countries. As such, a huge investment was required to fully present the story, and it would take a lot of effort to shoot the whole drama.
This was why the drama was stranded in the end even though there was a heated discussion about it; it did not have an investor.
All these years, Nell never heard that the shooting for it was about to begin.
âI canât believe that the drama is finally coming together?
âAnd it seems like Celine Jennings is going to play the main part?â
Nell looked down as she was struck with an idea.
When she returned to the private room, she found out that Gideon had already paid for their meal.
Nell was abashed.
She had said that she would treat him to dinner, but he ended up paying for it anyway.
Gideon held her hand as they walked outside, and he told her, âMrs. Leith, did you forget weâre married? Whatâs mine is yours, so isnât it the same which one of us pays the bill?â
Nell blushed.
She mumbled softly, âDoesnât that mean you got the short end of the stick?â
Gideon chuckled. âMm, since youâre aware, you should make it up to me well tonight.â
As he spoke, he gave Nell a hint by pinching her palm.
Nellâs back stiffened at once.
She turned to look at him and gritted her teeth. âDonât even think about it!â
Next, she shook off his hand and entered the car.
Gideon followed behind her with a faint smile on his face. Once he was also in the car, he asked cheerfully, âI meant to ask you to fill the bathtub for me later, why are you so agitated? Were you thinking about doing something else?â
Nell was lost for words.
She knew how bad the man was!
He always liked teasing her!
Nell quickly searched the internet about âHidden River: Ashleyâ after she was home.
She saw the script two years ago, so she remembered the rough framework, but she forgot the details.
Fortunately, there was plenty of information about the drama on the internet because it was extremely popular two years ago.
If she gathered all the information, she could get a rough idea of it.

Before long, Lucy replied to her message.
[Elder Sister Nelly, are you asking me to accept an acting role for this drama?]
Nell could not be bothered to keep her in suspense, so she cut to the chase. [Mm, take a look at it and see if you like it, then tell me your thoughts about it.]
It only took a second for Lucy to respond excitedly through a voice message.
âElder Sister Nelly, I donât have to look at it; I saw the script two years ago, and I like the drama very much! Are you asking me to take the role of the female lead, Ashley Watson?â
Nell. â...â
A few seconds later, Nell replied to Lucy with three words.
[In your dreams!]
Lucy. â...â
âItâs hurtful! But I must keep smiling.â
