Chapter 420
Spoiled by the President
Sure enough, Joelâs reply was filled with a series of emojis vomiting blood.
Joel: âYou guys... Are just too much!â
Nell was also quite speechless but seeing Joelâs blatant exasperation was quite entertaining.
Gideon watched as Nell was quivering from laughter. His lips turned up slightly and began to type a response. âDoggy, time for bed.â
Joel, â...â
How ruthless!
Gideon set Nellâs mobile phone aside and gave her a hug and a kiss. âThatâs enough, sleep!â
It was a good night.
The next day, Nell and Gideon continued to investigate the Bauhinia Clan.
Even though Gideon knew Gale Shelby, the matter that they were investigating was potentially damaging to the Shelby Clan, so naturally they did not approach him first.
Fortunately, they had the help of the Griffin family as well as Gideonâs personal connections. As such, it was not too difficult a task, they just needed more time.
In addition, Nell also had some old contacts in Country F. It would make it easier to investigate the Shelby Clan if she contacted them.
With that in mind, Nell called up an old close friend of hers.
Her friendâs name was Evelyn Brook. Back when she was in Dragon Regiment, Evelyn was her most trusted confidante.
There was a major internal upheaval in Dragon Regiment, so Nell did not know many of the people there anymore. Ever since Old K had passed away, the only person she knew of was Evelyn Brook.
The call was quickly connected.
A crisp female voice sounded from the other end. âWhoâs there?â
âEve, itâs me.â
There was a pause.
After a long silence, the person on the other end asked in obvious disbelief, âSeven?â
âYup.â Nell quirked her lips and smiled. âIt has been a while. How are you?â
It seemed like the person had just calmed herself down. âIâm good. You disappeared for so many years, why did you suddenly call me? Where are you now?â
Nell replied warmly, âIâm doing well. Recently, I came back to Country F. The reason Iâve contacted you is to ask for a favor. Do you have time to meet up with me?â
Her request met with silence for a few seconds.
âIâm a little occupied outside right now. Itâs okay, why donât you tell me what is it right now, then Iâll meet up with you when Iâm done?â
Nell thought about it and felt that it would work.
She explained the situation.
After hearing her explanation, the other person seemed surprised.
âYou want to investigate the Violette Clan?â
âYes. You have to help me keep this a secret, donât tell anyone.â
Evelyn was quiet for a few moments.
âAlright, I understand, wait for my news then.â
Nell agreed. After exchanging a few more pleasantries, the call was disconnected.
After Nell had made her request known, she felt relieved. Now all she had to do was wait for information. She made an appointment with Gideon to go shopping tonight.
At this time, on the other side.
In the most luxurious hotel in Country F, on the rooftop garden on the 48th floor.
The lights in the garden were brightly lit and countless young men and women were mingling between them. Colorful lights illuminated the night, clawing its way into the many dark corners.
A young woman was sitting on the sofa with a glass of wine in her hand. Seeing the dark screen on the phone, her eyes narrowed slightly.
However, this was not the time to overthink. She quickly put her phone away and eyed her surroundings.
The young woman wore a tight black dress with a white faux fur shawl draped across her shoulders. Her features were exquisite and her body language gave off a nonchalant air. She looked like she was part of the natural landscape but her beauty made onlookers desire to whisk her away.
A short distance away, a few men were engaged in a discussion. They wanted to talk to her but were slightly cowered by her haughty aura.
After a few pushes and shoves among them, a young man was pushed forward.
He walked up to her with a big grin. âMiss, are you alone?â
The woman raised her gaze. Her eyes were filled with amorous passion, like the most lethal poison in the world. A single gaze was sufficient to entrap a person completely.
The young manâs breath hitched. He was a seasoned womanizer, yet he could not help but blush under her gaze. It felt like she was seeing right through him.
Before he could form a coherent reply, the woman smiled at him. Softly, she said, âWhy? Do you want to woo me?â
The young man was shocked. After he had finally recovered his wits, he gave her an awkward smile. âMiss, what can I say? I saw that you were alone and thought that you might be bored, so I came over to ask.â
He pointed to his group of friends not far away. âI have a few friends over there. If you donât mind, you can join us.â
The woman, who sat on the sofa, twisted her body around to look at the group of friends not far away. She seemed to be deliberating.
The young man quickly assured her. âDonât worry, weâre not bad guys. Since weâre all here today, why donât we at least be friends?â
The woman seemed convinced by his speech. After some thought, she nodded. âAll right.â
Her answer made him happy. He immediately stretched out a hand to help her up from the sofa, almost like he was attending to a queen, and held on to her as she walked.
When the group saw that he had managed to invite the woman over, they revealed looks of glee.
The woman walked to their table and sat down. Naturally, someone poured her a glass of wine. She did not refuse and drank it all.
When the group of young men saw her drinking so casually, the smiles on their faces deepened even more. Gleefully, someone asked, âMissy, whatâs your name?â
The woman glared at him and replied with irritation, âWhat missy? What kind of attitude is that?â
The person was startled but did not get angry. Instead, he thought that her gaze was so deadly, that she withered half his bones.
He quickly bowed and laughed. âYes, yes, my bad. Then, in that case, you have to introduce yourself to us. Otherwise, we wonât know how to acknowledge you!â
The woman pursed her lips and hid a smile. Rolling her eyes, she said, âMy surname is Grand.â
âGrand, as in Grand Marnier?â
The woman nodded. âMy given name is Noriah, just call me Nora.â
The person grinned. âYour name is truly unique and sounds very pretty. Come, Nora, cheers to you.â
The woman seemed pleased. She raised her glass to clink against his.
Another person spoke up, âUs meeting each other today is fate, letâs toast to that.â
The woman nodded and clinked her glasses against theirs. Then, she downed the contents in a single gulp.
A few people saw that she was drinking heavily, so they poured her more wine and instigated her to drink more.
The woman did not seem to realize their intentions. She did not turn down any of their offers. Soon, she had drunk more than a dozen servings.
Since these men harbored bad intentions, they kept pouring her high-grade brandy. Even a heavyweight drinker would be slightly tipsy after downing more than a dozen shots.
At this moment, the woman was drunk. She could barely open her eyes and it felt as if a layer of mist had settled in her vision. Her cherry-red lips were slightly parted, which tempted the men present to no end.
One of the men swallowed hard. He felt his throat tighten, so he winked at his buddies.
