Chapter 47
Spoiled by the President
According to Garethâs condition, if they lost again, they would only suffer another year of defeat.
If they won, not only would they defend the title, but the Dark Horse Racing Team would have a new superb racer. With that, Dark Horse would not have to worry about their future for at least five years.
After five years, new blood and fresh talents would naturally replace the vacant spots, so it did not matter if Nell stayed or not.
Needless to say, the older person was wiser!
Nell had no way of retreat because of what Gareth proposed.
Nonetheless, since Nell had the guts to make the bet in the first place, why would she flinch?
She smiled and reached out her hand. âOkay, deal!â
âDeal!â
As they high-fived each other, the bet was set.
After half an hour, the final round was about to begin.
Racers from the three car-racing teams made their way to the racetrack. However, when everyone saw a strange lady in a racing suit represent the Dark Horse Racing Team instead of Gareth, they were startled.
âWho is she?â
âWhy is she wearing the Dark Horse Racing Teamâs suit?â
âDid the Dark Horse change their racer?â
Liam was slightly stunned when he recognized Nell.
He furrowed his eyebrows.
Nell approached him and waved at him with a smile. âSenior Jackman, long time no see, hello!â
Since they were classmates for three years, Liam naturally knew Nell.
He did not just know her; he knew she was that ladyâs best friend.
Liam frowned and looked around him, then he asked with a deep voice, âWhy are you here?â
Nell shrugged and showed an innocent look. âIâm here to race!â
Liamâs face darkened right away.
Not far away, Janet noticed Nell too.
She widened her eyes in disbelief, and she immediately went through the crowd and ran toward Nell.
âNelly, what are you doing? Stop fooling around, quickly come back with me!â
Janet was extremely anxious, but she kept hiding behind Nell as she tried to pull her back.
When Liam saw Janet, he recognized her at once even though she was hiding behind Nell in a cap and a mask.
His already dark face instantly turned colder.
Nell secretly grasped Janet while she looked at Liam calmly.
âWhy? Are you surprised to see me, Senior Jackman? Youâre not afraid to compete, are you?â
Liam sneered.
He turned and walked away.
âElder Brother Jackman, where are you going? Are we not going to compete?â
Liam expressed coldly, âSheâs not from Dark Horse. Since Gareth doesnât have the guts to take part, this round becomes invalid.â
âWhat?â
Everyone else was baffled.
Nell frowned but said out loud, âLiam Jackman, who said Iâm not a Dark Horse member? Canât I join at the last minute? On the other hand, arenât you afraid of being embarrassed if word about you running away from a battle spreads?â
Lian halted.
He turned to cast a cold look at Nell.
Nell continued in a hurry, âHow about we make a bet? If I lose today, Dark Horse will quit the race and will never participate in any future rallies in the country, but if I win...â
She paused and pulled Janet to the front.
Following that, she smiled with her eyes squinted. âYouâll have a meal with my sis here, what do you think?â
Waves of laughter and whistles filled the air as soon as she finished.
Janet blushed right away.
She lowered her head and tried to cover her face with her cap as she uttered, âNelly, Iâm not going to dine with him. Stop talking, letâs leave!â
Nell gritted her teeth and responded softly, âCan you be more mature? Having a chance to have a meal together is better than always being a backdrop among a bunch of fans. If there happens to be a spark of love between you, your long-cherished wish will be fulfilled, Janet the beauty!â
Janetâs face changed.
She turned vaguely pale when a thought crossed her mind.
Behind them, the members from the Dark Horse Racing Team felt uneasy when they heard that they might have to quit racing.
Someone took a step forward as he wanted to stop Nell, but Gareth stopped him.
Gareth expressed as he looked at Nell, âI trust her; I believe she wonât joke about the teamâs future.â
With that, the other members could only hold back while they suppressed their dissatisfaction.
On the other side, Liam took a quick look at Janet after he heard Nellâs suggestion.
His eyebrows made him look indifferent, and he gave off a feeling of contempt as he spoke, âYou want to dine with me?â
Janet shivered.
Nell did not notice Janetâs unusual behavior. She encouraged her best friend while she tugged her arm, âSis, this is a crucial moment, donât shy away!â
Janet finally looked up.
She stared at the man in front of her.
His dark blue suit complemented his tall and lean figure, as well as his long legs. That said, his eyebrows made him look cold and overbearing.
Janet pursed her lips.
It took her a while, but she forced herself to be brave. âSo what if I want to? T-tell me! Do you dare to compete or not?â
Although she had plucked up her courage, she stammered because she lacked confidence and was nervous.
Liam reacted as though he had just heard a funny joke.
He sneered again and glanced over Janet mockingly, then he walked toward his car with his helmet in his hand.
This meant that he agreed with the bet.
The people around them jeered.
Even though Janet wore a cap and a mask, it was not hard to imagine based on her eyes and her great figure that she was a beauty.
On the racetrack, it was always a battle of hormones.
Women were like good race cars, and they were targets that men wanted to conquer the most.
Janet held onto Nellâs hand tightly, trembling badly due to nervousness.
When the man walked past her, she heard a soft yet chilly voice coming from above her head.
âYouâll never have this opportunity again!â
Janetâs face became as white as a sheet.
Due to the cheers, the loud noise in the venue, and the fact that Liam lowered his voice, Janet was the only one who heard him.
Even Nell, who was next to Janet, did not know exactly what the man had said.
Seeing as Janet did not look too well, Nell asked worriedly, âWhat happened to you? Is anything wrong?â
Janet shook her head.

She was concerned.
Nell patted her shoulder with a smile.
âDonât worry, just wait for the candlelight dinner with your Mr. Perfect!â
Afterward, she flipped her hair confidently and put on her helmet, then she walked toward her race car.
Once the racers took their positions, the whistle was blown, and the race started.
Three race cars zoomed out at the same time, but Liam was soon ranked first for the time being.
Nell followed steadily behind Liam, and she went past a few obstacles smoothly while she constantly stayed close behind him.
The two of them quickly grew far ahead of the racer in third place, but when Liam noticed through the rearview mirror the car behind him, he could not help but frown.
