Chapter 472
Spoiled by the President
âTheyâd most likely suggest that you leave it in the hands of the public security authorities for a fair investigation but your hands arenât entirely clean.
Even if you were set up, Iâm sure your family must have engaged in a lot of under-the-table activities.
âIf you were to hand it over to the public security authorities, those dealings on the sly will come to light and it will just be one blow after the other. The Wilburns will be done for.
âSo you dare not take a chance on Momâs side of the family, yet you cannot decide if weâd help you or not. Hence, you turned your attention to Gideon.
âEveryone knows that my relationship with Gideon is solid. Should something happen between you two, even if it was to shut you up, heâd help you take care of it.
âYou might even be able to gain leverage to demand more. Gideon would never spare any mercy towards your family who is his motherâs relatives, despite how angry he is.
âYou basically have a license to kill in your hands and you plan to threaten us with it. Weâd be caught in a fix and used by the Wilburns to fall back to.
Am I right?â
With that, the living room fell silent.
It was pin-drop silence.
Deathly pale, Helen gawked at Nell in horror, unable to utter a word.
Within reach, Gideonâs face turned grimace and ashen.
No one would have thought that a simple matter would unveil a rather sinister and despicable truth.
Out of a sudden, a crashing sound was heard.
The teacups were swept off the table which gave everyone quite a fright.
Gideon stood up in fury. His sharp eyes darted a chilling glint, seemingly capable of freezing its target.
âAunt Joyce, send her back to the Wilburns! Tell them that the Leiths will never help the Wilburns in anything ever again!â
Aunt Joyce came forth and answered with respect, âYes.â
Raising a brow, Nell said nothing.
Helenâs complexion saw a change of color. Pale in the face, she pranced and grabbed Gideon by the sleeve.
âCousin, you canât do that. Weâre family. If anything were to happen to us, my dearly-departed Aunt would lose face. You canât just abandon us!â
Gideonâs eyes were cold. The next second, Aunt Joyce went up and forcefully pried Helenâs hand away.
âTake responsibility for your own actions. This rule will not change even for immediate relatives, let alone distant family!â
Giving her the cold shoulder, he strode off and left.
Helen placed her hope on Nell.
With tears streaming down her cheeks, she pleaded, âSister-in-law, I beg you. Take pity on us and lend a hand! I really donât want to marry that old man. My whole life will be ruined if I were to marry him.â
Nell faintly replied, âI might have a say if something happened in the family but this involves the customs...â
She curled her lips a little. âYour cousin wonât even help, whatâs the point of begging me?â
âSister-in-law, Cousin loves you the most. He will definitely listen to you. Please help me to talk some senses into him. Iâm sure you can.â
âOh? Really?â
Raising a brow, she smirked coldly. âWho was the one earlier who said my lowly status makes me unworthy of Gideon? She also said that I was less than her in status? I would be too embarrassed to implore if thatâs the case. After all, I canât even save myself, having come from such a background, much less others?â
As color washed off her face, Helen begged again, âIt was a slip of the tongue. Sister-in-law, I was full of sh*t and nonsense. Cousin loves you so much, heâll listen to you if it comes from you.
âSister-in-law, please help me out, as a woman to another woman! I really donât want to marry that old man. I will forever be grateful to you and be in your debt!â
Nell frowned but in the end, she never gave her word.
âRather than come to me, why donât you come clean with the old madam? Sheâs been good to your family. She wonât just sit by and watch especially with the matter involving your marriage.â
Without giving Helen a chance to speak, Nell took off.
Back upstairs, Nell found Gideon standing before a window and on a call with a long face.
She did not bother him and instead, ordered the maid to serve two cups of tea. She took a seat on a nearby sofa but she hardly took a sip.
It was not long before he hung up the call and approached her.
Nell put down the cup and asked with a smile, âAre you finished with the call?â
Gideon held his tongue. His tense face showed signs of his anger.
Without a word, she raised her brow and took a pillow to stuff behind her back.
Having noticed that, Gideon indistinctly frowned and walked over. He bent over and adjusted the pillow on her back before asking, âAre you sore on the waist again?â
She nodded. âYeah, I didnât have a good nap. My body is feeling rather sore.â
âGo take a rest.â
âI canât sleep.â
Gideon gazed intently at her. Getting goosebumps from the stare, Nell scooted back a little.
âWhy are you looking at me like that?â
âSorry. Just now...â
âI know.â
She sighed. âBut Iâm still very angry. Tell me, why do so many women have their eyes on you?
âThey are pulling all the stops on you. I can stop it once but I canât do it for tens or hundreds of times! In the future...â
Before she could finish, a hand locked her from the back of her head and soon, a kiss was planted.
She managed to gasp but her breath was completely taken away, leaving only but a fiery passion.
Nell slowly melted to the ground as her hands clutched onto the manâs shirt. Her lashes fluttered.

With her breath ragged and beautiful face flushed, she glared poutingly at him.
âWhat are you doing?â
As Gideonâs face softened, a smile curled on his face. âNothing. I just wanted to kiss you.â
Her eyes on him grew coquettishly furious. Those dewy eyes drew a lingering need from the earlier kiss.
He had to say, apart from the fact that Nell was a fatal attraction to him, the aphrodisiac lunch in the afternoon was showing its effect.
His eyes turned cold at that thought.
That woman was ruthlessly manipulative yet she counted on the Leith family to pull her out of the abyss. What a joke!
âSigh, what do you think? Should we let grandma know of this? This involves the Wilburns after all. Whether we will help them or not aside, we should at least let grandma know.â
Gideon closed his eyes and then looked at her before falling into contemplation.
âIâll tell her.â
With a straightened back, he whipped out his phone and gave the old madam a call.
He explained briefly through the phone. Needless to say, the old madam was livid to the point of shaking.
