Suddenly, her phone rang. She knew that it was from her family without having to think about it.

Yet, the moment she found Mavis’s phone number, her phone suddenly rang.

Chloe frowned slightly. She had just changed her phone number when she returned to the country, so no one knew about it besides her father.

He must have realized that he could not contact her with his own phone, so he was trying to use another phone number.

With a sneer, Chloe canceled the call after hesitating for a second.

However, as soon as she canceled the call, the number called again.

She then canceled the call yet again.

Three minutes later, her phone rang tirelessly without stopping.

Chloe was speechless. Could these people leave her be for a while?

John started to realize that something was wrong. He then gave up on calling Chloe and instead, he called Zayne.

The call got through after two beeps. “Hey!”

Soon, Chloe had arrived at the Garden of Sea and Flowers.

She tried Mavis again and again yet she did not answer.

The driver quickly said, “It’s dangerous for a lady to go to a hotel by herself. I have an empty room at my house, why don’t you stay at my place for the night?”

Although the driver had a kind tone, it was still weird for a stranger to invite a lady to his house.

Chloe glanced at him defensively and shook her head. “No thanks, there’s no need for that.”

15 minutes later, the cab suddenly stopped at a deserted roadside.

“What’s the matter?” Chloe asked nervously.

The driver waved his hands and said, “The car has broken down for some reason, probably because the engine’s broken.”

The driver pretended to be helpless. “It’s not convenient to call the mechanic at this time, so I can only stop here for now.”

Chloe looked around. The surrounding was filled with trees, and there was no one to be seen so she could not help but panic.
