Chapter 548
Spoiled by the President
The distance between both of them was too close. Joelâs aura was powerful. A forceful smell bombarded Lucy Katz, which made her feel unnerved.
She involuntarily shrunk back a little. Her eyes flickered everywhere and she did not dare to look him in the eye.
Lucy said with a timid voice, âThat was a unique situation. How would I know that youâd show up?â
Joel squinted slightly and glanced her over condescendingly.
Soon after, he sneered. âItâs alright if you didnât know before, but now you know. Since youâre so gutsy, you shouldnât have reached out to me. Now that Iâve saved you, thereâs no reason for me to just let others have you, right?â
Lucyâs body stiffened and gaped at him.
âWhat do you mean by this?â
Joel laughed and said, âItâs what you heard.â
He leaned over. His lips were by her ear and his voice was mellow yet devious. It carried a hint of malice that she had never heard before.
âLucy Katz, you know what I want. You also know that as long as I want something, Iâll do anything to get it. Initially, I didnât want to force you, but you willingly stayed over that night. Did you think that anyone can just get in bed with me? You canât just come and go as you please. What do you treat me as?â
Lucyâs entire body froze in place. She was shaking because of his words.
Half of it was fear, and the other half was anger.
She bit down and said, âWhat are you planning to do?â
Joel got closer to her and replied in a deep voice, âYouâll know more later.â
After he said this, he straightened himself. The darkness on his face disappeared, and that accompanying forcefulness also faded.
Lucy could finally breathe.
Immediately after, she felt heavy-hearted.
She looked at Joel, frowned, and said, âJoel Foster, Iâve already told you clearly that I donât have feelings for you. If you still care about our childhood friendship, please stop interfering with my life. If you can do this, Iâll be forever grateful.â
Joel laughed and did not pick up a word she said. Instead, he said, âWhy would I want your gratitude? Ha! There are so many people in this world who are grateful to me, and itâs definitely not lacking you.â
Lucy was shocked. This man was still as relentless as before. He was obviously coming from a good place, but as these words poured out of his mouth, one just could not help but feel like bashing him to the ground.
She took a deep breath and tried her best to suppress her frustration and uneasiness.
Lucy knew that there was no way she could change his mind today, so she could only change the subject.
âFine. Whatever you do is none of my business and I donât even want to know. Itâs late and I want to rest. You should leave!â
This time, Joel looked at her intensely but did not say a word. He then turned around and left.
âBang!â
The door outside slammed shut, and Lucy made sure that the man had left. She suddenly felt like somebody had sucked the air out of her. She collapsed and slowly sat down while leaning against the wall.
The next day, Lucy went to the hospital to visit her mother.
Unexpectedly, before she got to the ward, she overheard 2 nurses gossiping in the hallway. Their faces blushed with excitement and coyness.
They were walking while whispering excitedly.
âWow! That man just now was so handsome. Heâs probably the most handsome man Iâve ever met.â
âYea! The way he smiled was so warm. Heâs so good-looking and his personalityâs so gentle. I wonder which family is he from?â
âThere are so many rich people in the capital. Who knows which family is he from? Iâm a bit envious of Ms. Katz. I didnât think she would have such a friend. Heâs not just handsome, but heâs also so nice. Heâs so gentle with the elderly and heâs also such a sweetheart to us nurses! If he wasnât Ms.
Katzâs boyfriend, I wouldâve pounced on him.â
The other nurse was shocked and said, âWait, boyfriend? I thought Ms. Katzâs boyfriend was Mr. Smith?â
The nurse who was talking before frowned and retorted, âMr. Smith? No way! I think Ms. Katz and Mr. Smith are just friends. They didnât seem like a couple. But the guy today...did you see how he treated Mrs. Katz? He looked just like her rightful son-in-law. Heâs such a caring person. Ms. Katz wouldnât choose Mr. Smith, who only comes once in a blue moon, over that guy right? Sheâs not that blind I hope!â
The other nurse heard this and nodded in agreement.
âYeah, youâre right.â
Since there were not that many floors, Lucy decided not to squeeze into an elevator and took the stairs instead as it was faster and more convenient.
When the two nurses were talking, Lucy was right at the stairway. The lights on her side were dim, so the nurses did not notice her arrival.
After the two nurses left, Lucyâs face darkened. She did not have a good feeling about this and walked hurriedly to the ward.
Mama Katzâs ward was at one end of the hallway. It was not a high-end ward. Since Lucyâs identity was unique and her mother needed a better environment, she placed her mother in an individual room.
Lucy had not reached the door, but she had already heard hearty laughter coming from inside the room. She was stunned for a bit as it was her motherâs voice.
Since her mother got sick, Lucy had not heard her mother laugh like this in a long time.
Lucyâs heart tightened and she quickly stormed into the room.
âBang!â
The door of the ward was pushed open and the laughter inside stopped abruptly.
In the room, Mama Katz was lying down on the bed and Joel Foster was sitting by her side, peeling an apple.
Behind Joel stood his personal assistant, Mike Luther. Mike saw Lucy coming in, so he bowed and greeted her.
âHello, Ms. Katz.â
Lucy ignored him. Her complexion was not great.
She glared at Joel and asked, âWhat are you doing here?â
Joel just squinted his eyes and did not reply.

She just waved for Lucy to come over.
âLu! Youâre here. Come sit.â
When Lucy walked over to her side, she added, âThis child. Why didnât you tell Mom that you made such a good friend? Mom didnât stop you from having a boyfriend. Youâre already so old and Iâve always been supportive of you. If Joel didnât come over today, I wouldnât have known about this!â
While she spoke, she stared accusingly at Lucy.
Lucyâs body stiffened, and she looked at Joel with disbelief.
She never would have thought that Joel dared to come over, and not just that, he had also said a bunch of nonsense to her mother.
