Chapter 569
Spoiled by the President
âSister Elsa, I-I want to go back.â
Jada cried weakly to Sister Elsa. Sister Elsa did not know what was going on but knew that tension was rising high by the sour look on her face, hence she nodded.
âOkay, Iâll take you.â
She then politely nodded at Joel. âYoung Master Foster, weâll get going now.â
Joel offered no response, as though they were invisible up until now.
At last, Sister Elsa held Jada by the arm and took off.
Lucy had her head hung low and she only lifted it once they had left. With complicated eyes, she took a glance at Joel and sighed.
âSigh, you said that youâll...â
Then, she paused as she could not find the right words to say.
Lucy was helpless and even immune to this manâs habit of shifting his woman troubles to her.
Joel looked askance at her and answered in a dreary tone, âWhat? You have an opinion?â
Lucy was speechless.
What could she say?
Dare she say anything?
Having nothing to ask of him in the past, she had the guts to pick fights with him but now that her career and her motherâs life were in his hands, there was no way she could refute him.
Finally, Lucy shook her head helplessly. âWhatever, itâs nothing. Just do as you please.â
In any case, it was impossible for her and Jada to get along even if Joel did nothing.
That woman must already hate her to the core. Even if Lucy were to tell Jada the whole truth, she would never believe her.
Once she had figured this out, Lucy no longer dwelled on the matter.
Coincidentally, a waiter then came in to serve the dishes. So Lucy just picked up her chopsticks and began to eat.
As it was only supposed to be her and Carina eating before, they did not order much. Lucy was not the type to waste and neither was Carina. Since the two girls did not have that big of an appetite, they only ordered two vegetable dishes and one meat dish.
However, with Joel joining in, Carina dared not take a seat and she watched from the side.
Raising a brow, Lucy frowned unhappily.
âWhat are you standing there for? Sit down and eat.â
Carina looked at Joel timidly.
Joel was aware that his abrupt intrusion had disrupted the original meal for two.
Although he was unruly in nature, he would not take advantage of a poor little girl. Hence, he waved his arm.
âDonât be a stranger. Take a seat and letâs have a meal together. Hand me the menu so I can add a few dishes.â
Carina sat cautiously beside Lucy.
The meal might not have been the most cheerful but apart from Carina feeling uneasy the entire duration of the meal, the other two were unperturbed.
Since it was still early after the meal and Lucy had nothing planned, Joel suddenly said he wanted to take her out for a stroll on a whim.
Lucy did not refuse. It was not as though this man would listen if she rejected anyway.
So she sent Carina away before following Joel to his car.
Half an hour later.
The car quickly arrived at the nearby destination.
Joel parked the car in the parking lot and the duo got off to walk to the destination.
Looking at the unfamiliar surroundings, Lucy frowned.
âJoel, where did you take me?â
Someone of her identity and popularity should not be running around because it was easy to get into trouble.
Aware of her concern, Joel grinned. âDonât worry, of course Iâve made adequate preparations before bringing you out with me. I can guarantee that youâd definitely want to come here and youâd love it.â
What she did not know was that during their meal, Joel had ordered to have the place cleared. Every activity was set up specifically for her so no issue would arise.
Lucy could only tread on the heels of Joel but the more she advanced ahead, the more she was struck with a bad feeling.
As expected, she had a âwhat the f*ckâ moment when she found herself standing before a huge fairytale-like amusement park five minutes later.
So this was the place he assured that she wanted to go and was apparently so much fun?
F*ck this, she was looking forward to it too!
Joel seemed somewhat unaccustomed to such places as he observed the various activities with an awkward look on his face. He let out a cough.
âAbout that... This is the VIP card here. You can do whatever you like.â
Then, he fished a card from his pocket and handed it to her.
Lucyâs complexion took on a ghastly look. As she was not the least bit interested in this sort of childish thing, she asked, âCan I not do this?â
Raising a brow, Joel looked at her. âOf course not. How can you not have a little fun when youâre already here? Whatâs more, arenât girls your age fond of these places?â
âWho said that!â
âI heard...â Joel was suddenly tongue-tied. He pursed his lips. âYou donât like it?â
Lucy glanced at the VIP card in her hand and curled her lips on one side.
It was not as though she did not like it but it was way off the mark from what she had anticipated!
After all, she was not a little kid and was past the age of riding the roller coaster.
He was the Second Young Master of the Fosters. Should he not take her to some high-end venue like a restaurant suspended over a private estate?
Why did they end up in this childish amusement park?
She was holding the amusement park in contempt, but at the very least, he should have brought her to an adult amusement park instead of a childrenâs playground!
Lucy sighed to herself silently. Whatever! Since they were here, she should have some fun!
She swept her glance around and fixated on a balloon-shooting, plushie-winning stall ahead. She pointed her finger and said, âLetâs take a look over there!â
Joel nodded.
The pair approached the stall and bought ten shots from the stall owner. Lucy pointed at a white husky in the middle and exclaimed with a squinty smile, âI want that one!â
Joel nodded before he picked up the gun and got into position. Following a bang, the target was hit.
The stall owner was a middle-aged man in his thirties. He was taken by surprise because the customers usually missed on the first shot. The handsome pair did earn themselves a few brownie points in the ownerâs books for their looks as well. Thus, the owner happily retrieved the husky and gave it to Lucy.
Lucy then pointed to Julius the Monkey right beside. Similarly, Joel hit a bullâs eye on the balloon above the plushie without having to really take aim.
Lucy proceeded to point at Mashimaro.
Bang! A hit.
Grizzly, a hit.
Mickey Mouse, a hit.
...
Color gradually washed off the stall ownerâs face.
He was completely stunned by the ninth shot. He reached out to stop Joel and gave a bitter smile. âSir, youâve won nine plush toys. Iâll go out of the business today if you continue to win. Why donât you let the young lady try her hand with the last shot?â
Curling his lips, Joel did not insist as he handed the gun over to Lucy. âDo you want to have a go?â
Lucy was surprised by the gesture but soon turned bashful. âBut I donât know how to.â
