Chapter 581
Spoiled by the President
As soon as Lizzy said that, everybody was stunned.
Nell was the first to react. She quickly squatted down to cover Lizzyâs open mouth.
Then, she displayed an awkward smile to Lucy and spoke, âIâm so sorry. Kids say the darndest things. She doesnât know what sheâs talking about.â
After all, judging by Lucyâs tone earlier, she did not admit to being in a relationship with Joel. Since they were not together, having a baby was out of the question.
Nell was Lucyâs boss, but she felt that her daughterâs sudden utterance had offended the couple.
Lucyâs face was red with embarrassment as well. She quickly shook her head. âNo offense taken.â
Joel came to his senses too. He coughed awkwardly and immediately changed the subject to avoid talking about such topics in front of a child.
âSis-in-law, itâs getting late. Weâll head there.â
Nell nodded.
âGo, then. Enjoy yourselves.â
Then, Joel led Lucy away.
Once they were gone, Nell exhaled a pent-up sigh of relief.
Meanwhile.
After leaving the art exhibition, Lucy and Joel went to the museum next door.
Joel wanted to go to the childrenâs art exhibition, while Lucy was interested in visiting the museum.
At first, she thought of accompanying him to the art exhibition, then going to the museum on her own.
However, Joel tagged along.
It meant that he would be accompanying her.
Although Lucy felt reluctant, she could not change the manâs mind, so he allowed him to follow her.
The couple strolled around casually. This place was a technological museum.
Initially, Lucy was fascinated by such gadgets. In reality, she found out that she was unfamiliar with most of them.
Luckily, Joel was knowledgeable about technology. With him explaining by her side, many things soon began to make sense and she finally comprehended them.
She then asked him about technology-related subjects that she had read about on the internet, but that which she did not fully understand.
Joel answered each of her questions. Despite how deep and profound the subjects were, she managed to grasp most of them.
At the same time, a middle-aged man in a suit ran towards them, huffing and puffing in the process. Two museum employees followed him behind his back.
He approached Joel and smiled at him. âItâs really you, Second Young Master Foster. Why didnât you send someone to inform me of your arrival? That way, I can make the necessary arrangements to receive you.â
Joel nodded and said coolly, âWhy the big fuss? Iâm just accompanying my girlfriend.â
Girlfriend?
The middle-aged man felt surprised. Then, he noticed Lucy, who was standing beside Joel.
As she was wearing a face mask and a cap, the man did not recognize her immediately. He merely replied in an unsure manner, âThis is... How may I address you?â
Lucy glanced around the area. This side of the technological museum was less popular and had fewer visitors.
Assuming that she did not put on a disguise, she would not even be recognized by anyone.
Thus, she removed her cap and face mask and smiled politely at the man.
âHi, Iâm Lucy Katz.â
The middle-aged man was astonished.
When he regained his composure, he tried to appease her by saying, âHi, Miss Katz. Iâm Wayne Barnett, the museumâs curator. You can call me Barney.â
Naturally, Lucy refused to call him that. The man looked about forty and was old enough to be her dad. Calling him Barney seemed weird.
She responded courteously, âMr. Barnett.â
Wayne waved an arm and replied, âI bet this is your first time here, Miss Katz? Do you want me to accompany the both of you?â
Joel frowned and was annoyed by this third-wheeling man. He lowered his voice. âDo you have so much free time on your hands as a curator? Mind your own business!â
Wayne understood that his presence was unwanted, so he grinned. âAlright, alright, enjoy yourselves. Just call me if you need anything.â
Joel ignored him, whereas Lucy smiled at him kindly. âAlright, we will.â
After walking for a while, Joelâs phone rang and he stood aside to answer it. Thus, Lucy continued on her own.
Soon, she noticed a few people walking towards her, and the person in front of the group looked familiar.
It was Shannon Peterson, Jada Swansonâs best friend. They often ganged up with other female celebrities to bully newcomers.
Lucy cursed herself for not checking the Yellow Calendar before going out. It was not an auspicious day and she had to bump into them!
However, Jada was not around this time. The group consisted of Shannon and two of her relatives, who were heiresses of the capitalâs elite families.
âJust my luck! Why do I have to meet this b*tch here?!â
Shannon grumbled nastily. Her two relatives saw Lucy as well and began to snigger.
âHey, whatâs your name? Why didnât you greet our Elder Sister Shannon? Arenât you afraid of offending her?â
âYeah, did you know that apart from the Four Great Clans, Elder Sister Shannonâs clan is the most influential one in existence? Donât you belong to showbiz? Great, Elder Sister Shannon belongs to the same industry as well. If you kneel down at once and kowtow to her thrice, she might protect you in the future.â
Then, the woman who said this roared with laughter.
Lucy eyed them emotionlessly. She kept quiet and turned around to continue on her path.
The woman was infuriated and rushed forward to grab her. âHey! What kind of attitude is that? I offered you a bit of friendly advice and you remained silent. Whatâs the meaning of this?â

If she remembered correctly, that woman was Ursula Peterson, Shannonâs cousin. She had a poor reputation among the socialites in the capital and was commonly known to be two-faced.
Lucy chuckled coldly and shoved Ursulaâs hand away. She said coolly, âThanks for the reminder, but Iâm just a small fry. Iâm hardly ambitious even though I work in showbiz and I live according to my means, so donât you worry about me.â
âOh, so youâre just an unaspiring bum! And I thought you were somebody!â
Shannon scoffed and raised her voice. âHey, youâve been walking around for a while. Can you afford the items here?â
A crease gradually formed between Lucyâs brows.
Ursula joined in as well. âDidnât you know? This museum functions on a charity basis. The items here can be bought and the proceeds will be donated to the museum as part of their research fund. Havenât you bought something after spending quite some time here?â
Lucy stared at her empty hands. Indeed, she did not buy anything.
