Chapter 62
Spoiled by the President
The next day, Nell went straight to Anning International.
After a series of contract signing, Xinghui was finally now an official partner of Anning International.
As this was a direct order from Gideon, the higher management dared not voice their opinions despite their surprise.
With the contract out of the way, Matthew brought Nell to the public relations department and announced her position as chief.
Nell had already made a name for herself in Fenghua in the past two years.
Even though she kept a low profile, most peers in the industry recognized her and approved of her potential.
They were delighted to learn that President Leith had acquired her.
Of course, there also others with a long service record that had eyes on the chief position with it finally made available. However, Nell came out of the blue and snatched it from them.
Although they took a dim view of their new chief, they, too, held their tongue while the team received her warmly.
Nell got the lowdown on the personnel situation in the department and said she would start work the next day before leaving.
After departing from Anning International, she took a trip back to Xinghui.
She gave Hannah a call when she first took over Xinghui.
Today was coincidently the last day Hannah was serving her resignation notice and officially joining her.
Nell was naturally overjoyed for the arrival of this great assistant.
With her and Vice President Lewis around, Nell did not need to be too concerned about Xinghui for the time being.
After getting Hannah acquainted with the office, Nell received a call, telling her to take a look at her shop.
She then recalled that the matter was left hanging after putting the tiny store up for a transfer of ownership.
It would have slipped out of her memory if it were not for the phone call.
After work, Nell took off to the store instead of Leith Gardens.
The person who she had made an appointment with had arrived and turned out to be Zoeyâs relative after some probing.
For the amount of time Zoey spent in the shop, she had a pretty clear grasp of its profits. So of course, she could not wait to break the news to her family with a great opportunity presented at hand.
Nell smiled without commenting further. She even gave preferential rates on certain items.
The transfer of ownership went on smoothly.
It was already 8:00 p.m. by the time she was done.
Nell had phoned Leith Gardens in advance to inform Aunt Joyce that there was no need to prepare dinner for her.
It so happened that Gideon was working overtime tonight. He must still be at work.
She walked out of the store, realizing then that it was pouring outside.
As it was late autumn, the air was frosty from the breeze blowing from the North and the rain intensified the chilliness.
Clenching onto her sweater, she took strides to the garage while sending him a message on WeChat.
Learning that the man was indeed still in the office, she drove to Clearwater Villa.
She came to know Gideonâs taste preference from making last nightâs food.
Nell knew that the man was fussy enough to eat only food made by Aunt Joyce and Clearwater Villa. Hence, she ventured there even though it was late.
Fortunately, it was not much of a bother as cars were scarce at night and her location was close to Clearwater Villa.
After ordering a few takeaways from the villa, she made a beeline for Leith Corporation.
Back in the presidentâs office, Gideon was still engaged in a meeting.
As the current person in charge of Leith Corporation, he was definitely busy with all affairs needing to come through him.
Moreover, newly-developed electronics from abroad had recently yielded fruition. Having set store by the technology, Gideon was more at ease taking a personal interest in many of the aspects. Thus, the piling of meetings abroad lately.
By the time Nell reached her destination, the huge screen in the office was still projecting the setting of the correspondentâs meeting room.
She paused before reacting by putting a lid on. She tiptoed in.
Gideon quickly ended the meeting and got up upon her entry into the room.
âItâs raining?â
Noticing dampness on her body, he asked with a frown.
Nell smiled and caressed away the wet hair from the rain without a care. She placed the food on the table and said, âItâs just a little rain. I guess winter is coming.â
Without a word, Gideon quietly turned up the heat in the office.
Nell continued. âI know you haven't had your dinner so I got takeout from Clearwater Villa. How did I do? Arenât I caring?â
Gideon curled a smile.
âIâm honored to be cared for by Mrs. Leith. I feel very happy.â
The cheesy remarks coming from the manâs smiling lips sent chills down Nellâs spine.
She had to put a stop on the topic she brought up.
The duo sat in the office and finished the meal. Gideon poured her a glass of warm water and even cleaned up the leftovers on the table. He suggested, âIâll need to finish up here. Rest here and then weâll go home together, alright?â
For some reason, it took quite a toll on Nellâs body today. As she had no intention to drive home today, she nodded.
Gideon ruffled her hair with a smile before returning to his desk to resume work.
Sitting on a sofa, Nell held a glass in one hand and toyed with her phone with the other.
She scrolled through the news and Weibo before her eyes grew heavy. She was soon nodding off.
Without putting in much of a thought, she cast it off as driving herself too hard today. As Gideon seemed to require longer focus at work, she put down the glass and retrieved a pillow on a side to lie down on.
By the time Gideon was finished taking care of business, an hour had gone by.
He did not want to be occupied too late into the night with Nell present. Gideon turned off the computer and got up to find that she had somehow fallen asleep on the sofa.
With a frown, Gideon walked over and bent over, gently patting her on the shoulder.
âNelly, itâs time to go home.â
The woman on the sofa showed no response other than gathering a furrow between her brows.
He reached out for her forehead.
The slight temperature clouded up his face but the next second, he felt a slap on the back of his hand.
Unhappy with the disruption, the woman deep in slumberland lifted her arm to take a swing at his hand. She was even mumbling.
Gideon burst into chuckles.
He turned to look outside the window. It was still raining. Although the heater was turned on inside, she still could catch a cold sleeping like this.
Gideon turned to retrieve his jacket and placed it over Nell. He then arched over to pick her up.
Outside, Matthew, as Gideonâs personal assistant, had been waiting.
With his pupils dilating at the sight of Gideon carrying Nell out, he immediately lowered his head.
âPresident, are we heading home?â
âYes.â
Nell remained fast asleep throughout the period of Gideon carrying her down the stairs and into the car.
Without the intention to wake her, Gideon left her asleep in his arms. While on the way, he instructed Matthew to turn up the heat in the car.
It was quiet inside the car.
They were almost home when Nell gradually came to.
âHuh? Why am I in the car?â

A soft chuckle came from above her head. âAre you awake?â
