Chapter 609
Spoiled by the President
Fourth Cecil sneered, âWhy of course, the more valuable the thing is, the more Iâll treasure it. Do you think I collect these things for fun?â
Lucy grinned. âThen itâs simple. Things like jade and paintings are pretty valuable, and they are very easy to carry too. I can show you where they are if we have the time.â
Fourth Cecil thought Lucy was acting a bit strange today.
She was too compliant.
So compliant that he felt it was a little unreal.
Though it could be due to the danger Lucy knew she was in and so, she did not dare to defy him.
However, why would she tell him about her valuable collection so willingly? She even invited him to go to her house, asked him what kind of stuff he liked more, and gave him suggestions on which valuables were lighter to carry than the others.
This person must be crazy!
Fourth Cecil glanced at Lucy in the driverâs seat and grew increasingly more suspicious as he stared at her.
Even then, Lucy looked like she did not notice his intrusive gaze at all. She continued to drive as if the suggestion she had just made was a casual one â something she just thought she should share without any hidden agenda.
Just as Fourth Cecil was growing a little uneasy, Lucy made a sound of exclamation out of nowhere and pointed at a store that was selling luggage.
âThey are selling luggage bags there. Do you want to buy one?â
Fourth Cecil turned and scanned the outside of the store. They were not in a busy part of the city, and there were not many people around. The store itself did not look too big. He could only make out two employees in it.
Still, he glanced upwards to inspect the corners of the store and found security cameras everywhere.
He whipped his head back to Lucy and pushed the dagger further into her waist as a warning before he seethed, âStop talking! Drive!â
Lucy pursed her lips and mumbled, âIâm just trying to be nice.â
After that, she did not say anything else as she drove the car in silence.
About 20 minutes later, the car stopped outside a residential area.
Lucy pointed at a villa not far from where they were and said, âThere it is. Do you want to go in on your own or do you need me to go with you?â
Fourth Cecil surveyed his surroundings for a moment. The guards outside the residential area did not suspect anything since Lucy was the one who brought him in.
Nevertheless, this was an upscale neighborhood, and their surveillance system was no doubt perfect.
He was not sure what would happen if he were to venture into the villa on his own and left Lucy alone in the car.
That was why he made the shrewd decision to take her with him.
Fourth Cecil pressed the dagger into Lucyâs waist and ordered in a low voice, âYouâre going in with me.â
Lucy raised an eyebrow but did not refuse. She got out of the car with him.
He pushed her forward as they walked. When they arrived before the gates, he ordered her to open them.
Now, Lucy was stumped.
The truth was that she did not know the password to open the gates.
That was because this was not her house.
This was the villa that Joel took her to when she was drunk, and it was where she woke up the next day.
All the things she said back in that abandoned warehouse was gibberish. All she wanted was to lure Fourth Cecil to take her outside.
In fact, she had said those things out of a whim, thinking that she had to try every idea to stay alive for as long as possible, which surprisingly, Fourth Cecil believed her.
With all her meticulous calculations, she did not account for the fact that she would need a password to pass through those gates.
Joel did tell her about the password once. He said that this could be her home in the future, especially since Mama Katz would need a better place to live after she recuperated. This neighborhood was quiet and peaceful, so it was the perfect place for her to stay.
Lucy did not bother to care too much about it at that time. She was mumbling in her head that she had not even promised him that she would move in for real.
That was why she did not try to remember the password when Joel told her about it.
What an awkward situation she had gotten herself into!
Fourth Cecilâs expression darkened when he noticed that Lucy was not moving.
âWhat are you staring at? Open the gates!â
Lucyâs face stiffened and she gave him an awkward smile.
âWell... Iâm sorry, but I seem to have forgotten the password. Can you lend me your phone? I can ask someone for it.â
Fourth Cecilâs eyes widened. He stared at her in utter disbelief.
âDidnât you say this is your house? You forgot the password to your own house?â
Lucy tried her best to squeeze a smile onto her face. âWell, Iâm always away so I donât really go home that much. Plus, I live in the apartment sometimes to appease you. Living in so many places at the same time... I donât think itâs too odd that I forgot the password.
âNot to mention, this villa is just too big for me to be living in it alone. Itâs rather inconvenient, so I make this place my storage unit. I donât come here that much.â
How could Fourth Cecil believe anything she just said?
He stared at her coldly for a moment, then he chuckled darkly. âYou did not just pick a strangerâs house and lied to me saying that itâs yours, did you?â
Lucy shook her head right away.
âOf course I didnât. You donât look like someone who would be easy to lie to. This really is my house. I even know the color of the mat. If you donât believe me you can go in and see it for yourself.â
This made Fourth Cecil regain some trust in Lucy.
Nevertheless, he still regarded Lucy with suspicion when he asked, âWho do you want to call?â
Lucy pursed her lips and said, âMy boyfriend.â
She quickly followed up her answer with an explanation, âHeâs on a business trip in another country, so itâs likely that he doesnât know about my disappearance yet. He wouldnât realize anythingâs wrong if I call him.
âIf youâre still worried, you can put the phone on speaker. If anything happens you can just kill me with that dagger, I wonât fight you.â
Fourth Cecil contemplated that idea for a moment. He thought, while it might be a risky one, it did not seem like there was a high chance it could go wrong.
She said he was in another country anyway, so he would not be able to do anything even if he noticed something was wrong.
Fourth Cecil had already mapped out an escape route for himself when he was getting rid of that group of men just now.
All he had to do right now was to go into that villa, collect whatever he wanted, and drive to the pier.
The most he would need was 20 minutes.
Nobody would be able to get help in the span of 20 minutes from another country.
With that, he let his guard down.
He would later realize that it was this one phone call that sabotaged his entire plan.
That was because he did not know the âboyfriendâ Lucy had mentioned was the Foster familyâs Second Young Master, Joel Foster. This man had connections all over the capital. He could get people here in less than 5 minutes, let alone 20.
This information was something Fourth Cecil did not think to ask for.
He was enticed by the promise of endless fortune behind these gates, and there was no way he was backing down.
Those men had the upper hand before this when they threatened to kill him unless he sent them one billion yuan.
He had no other choice but to find a way to get that sum of money.
They knew that his stepdaughter was a famous celebrity, so they came up with that idea to exploit her fortune.
Fourth Cecil honestly was not into this idea of kidnapping his daughter.
After all, if he would have it his way, he would not think it was necessary to kidnap Lucy even if he refused to sign the divorce papers with Lucyâs mother. However, there was no going back now that he had actually kidnapped his own stepdaughter.
He would lose something if he chose either option anyway.
