His phone rang just then, pulling him away from his worries.

He had initially thought it was his subordinates who had finally found something useful, but he was taken aback when he picked the phone up.

The screen of his phone showed that it was Lucy calling him.

He answered the phone immediately.

“Darling!”

Lucy’s voice sounded light and natural from the other side of the phone as if she was not in the slightest danger at all.
