Chapter 613
Spoiled by the President
Lucy took a shower after Joel left.
She found that Carina had already prepared a meal when she walked out of the bathroom.
After having been on edge for the entire day, her body and mind were equally exhausted, and there was not an ounce of energy left in her.
Joel was thoughtful enough to be aware of this. That was why he had asked her to stay put at home and rest up while he went over to the police station to catch up with the investigation.
Anything else could wait until tomorrow when she had enough rest.
Lucy was positively famished, so she did not hesitate to pick up the chopsticks when she registered the delicious aroma wafting from the dishes.
Carina was in a good mood now that she knew Lucy was home safely. She blabbered beside Lucy to keep her from feeling bored as she ate.
Just then, Carinaâs phone rang.
Since Fourth had taken Lucyâs phone away when he kidnapped her, and she did not have a chance to search for it after he got caught, she had no phone with her right now.
Carina pulled her phone out and glanced at the caller ID. Her eyes brightened up when she saw the name.
Then, she sneaked a glance at Lucy as if she was reminded about something. âLucy, itâs Brother Si. He must have known youâre back, so heâs calling to see if youâre okay.â Her expression was hopeful.
Lucy still had no idea what Simon had gone through that day, but she was surprised to hear that he called. âI thought the filming crew wasn't supposed to know about this. How does he know?â
Carina proceeded to tell her about how she had met him by chance that night.
With that, Lucy was finally informed.
âThen, pick up the phone. What are you waiting for?â she said with a smile when she saw that the phone was still ringing.
Carina picked up the phone.
An anxious voice came from the other end of the line when the phone connected, âCarina, I heard that Lucy was found. Is that true?â
Carina looked at Lucy for a cue and only spoke when Lucy gave her the go. âYes, itâs true. Thank you for your concern, Brother Si.â
Simon seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. âItâs good that sheâs back. Oh, is she okay? Is she hurt?â
âNo, sheâs doing well. Sheâs not hurt at all.â
âWho kidnapped her? Did you guys find out who took her? How was she found?â Simon asked too many questions, and Carina was not sure she was at the liberty to answer any of them, so she turned to Lucy for help.
Lucy met her gaze and grinned as she waved a dismissive hand. She took over the phone and said lightly, âIâm fine, Simon. Iâll tell you everything when Iâm back on the set. Donât worry about me!â
The moment Simon heard her voice, he knew that she was really okay. He blessed the gods as he let out a breath of relief.
âOh, you donât know how scared I was! Your assistant hurt her foot trying to find you that night. Everyone was so worried about you. Thank goodness youâre okay. I donât know how upset we would be if something happened to you.â
Lucy widened her eyes at his words. She turned to Carina and asked, âYouâre hurt?â
Carina did not expect Simon to tell her about that, hence she waved her hands to dismiss the issue. âItâs nothing! Iâm fine.â
Lucy did not say anything else. Instead, she turned to the phone and said, âOkay, please help me keep this a secret. Iâll talk to you once Iâm back on set.â
Simon had been informed earlier on that Lucyâs disappearance should be kept a secret. No one except the director knew about it. Everyone else thought she was just taking a break. He promised to keep it a secret on the phone, and they hung up after a few minutes.
Lucy looked over to Carina when she ended the call. âCome here,â she ordered.
Carina took a step back fearfully and gave her a shaky smile. âLucy, whatâs wrong?â
Not wanting to waste any time, Lucy repeated her order again, âNothing. Just come here.â
Carina knew that there was nowhere for her to run to, so she could only shuffle her way to Lucy who pulled her assistant down to the sofa the moment she was within her reach.
Without another word, Lucy pulled up one of the cuffs of Carinaâs pants to assess the injury.
âWhere did you hurt yourself?â
Carina tried to lean back to evade her touch when she realized what she was trying to do. âLucy, Iâm fine! Iâm really fine!â
Lucy obviously would not listen to her at all. âDonât move!â she commanded coldly.
Carina was forced to settle down. Then, Lucy asked, âWhich leg of yours is hurt? Tell me, or else Iâll have to check for myself.â
The assistant could not evade her question any longer, so she pointed at her right leg reluctantly.
âThis one.â
Lucy tugged the cuff of her pants and curled it all the way up.
Sure enough, she saw the colorful bruises on her skin as she was rolling the cuff up. There was a part of her leg that was wrapped in gauze. It must be where the wound was.
She could not examine the injury since it was all wrapped up, but judging by the surrounding dark bruises decorating her skin, it must have been pretty bad.
Lucyâs expression darkened. She gently pressed the skin around the wound and asked, âDoes it still hurt?â
Carina shook her head right away. âIt doesnât hurt anymore! Iâm telling the truth. Itâs not as bad as it looks. Simon made a big fuss about it as if it was really something serious, but it doesnât hurt at all.â
From her genuine expression, Lucy confirmed that she was not lying and her worries finally ceased.
No wonder she thought that Lucyâs gait was a little off when they were outside. It was because she had hurt her leg.
She let Carina roll the cuff of her pants down and said, âYou should recuperate with me for the next few days. Donât go running away. If you need anything, just ask Mike to get it for you.â
Carina also knew that running around with her wound would affect its rate of recovery even though it was nothing serious. Immediately, she nodded without a word of protest.
Lucy was ready to return to bed after finishing her meal.
A commotion seemed to have unfolded right outside the door when she was just about to move.
She frowned and saw that Carina was growing uneasy as the noises outside persisted. The assistant grabbed Lucyâs arm and asked, âLucy, who is it?â

A person was struggling their way to the door when it was opened unexpectedly, revealing Lucy and Carina in the doorway.
Mike stepped forward with a grave expression and bowed. âI apologize for disturbing you, Miss Katz.â
Not far from where they were, Mace caught a glimpse of Lucy behind the two bodyguards who were trying to restrain him from advancing any further.
He tried to run to her but was pushed back immediately.
âLucy, are you okay? Thank goodness youâre fine. These people arenât letting me see you. How can they do this?â He was so mad his face was flushed red.
Lucy frowned at the sight of him.
âLet him go,â she told Mike.
Mike frowned without realizing it. He knew who Mace was. If Mike did not know that Mace was involved with Lucy and that he would likely upset her if he did anything to him, he would have thrown him out a long time ago. After all, he would not let him cause such a ruckus loud enough to alarm Lucy.
Although Mike was silent for a few seconds, he eventually waved a hand to tell his men to let Mace go.
