Chapter 645
Spoiled by the President
Lucy paused. The smile on her face deepened and the chill in her eyes increased.
"After all, youâre my stepfather, right? As a daughter, I have to be filial no matter what. If you die like this, who am I going to be filial to?
"Naturally, you have to be allowed to live, even if it's worse than death, even if you're rolling around in pain every day, you have to live like a dog.
"By then, even if you regret it and want to sign this, or even if you beg for death, you won't be able to."
Fourth Cecil shuddered hard and his face turned pale.
His body was trembling with fear.
"How dare you, how dare you...â
Lucy blinked her eyes. "What did I do?"
Fourth Cecil did not continue to speak any further.
He knew that he was only a prisoner now and that anything he said was no longer useful.
From her bag, Lucy took out a pen and placed it on the glass table.
"Sign this so that you can die well and hope for a better rebirth in the next life. Then you might still make it in time to live again."
Fourth Cecil stared at the pen and did not move for a long time.
Since Lucy was not in a rush, she just waited there quietly.
It was only after a long time that he suddenly raised his head and looked straight at Lucy. He gritted his teeth and said, "I don't believe it. What if I donât sign? What else can you do?"
Lucy had expected that he would not agree so easily.
She laughed lightly and slowly before she suddenly leaned in close to him and said softly through the piece of glass, "Do you know who the man who helped me the last time was? The one who sent you to prison with me?"
To be honest, Fourth Cecil truly did not know.
All he knew was that Lucy had seduced a rich man. He had tried checking who exactly it was but did not get any results.
Lucy's smile was extremely breathtaking yet incomparably cold.
"His name is Joel Foster. Heâs the Second Young Master of the Foster family in the capital and he is now my lawfully wedded husband."
Boom!
It was as if a huge thunderclap had exploded in Fourth Cecilâs head.
What?
Foster family?
If his face was pale a moment ago, it was now drained.
Fourth Cecil still knew of the Foster family's name.
They were one of the big four clans in the capital â an existence that he could only look up to in his entire life but dared not grasp.
Unexpectedly, she actually managed to...
He looked at Lucy in disbelief and heard her say casually, "I can't make you live like itâs worse than death, but my husband has always been very good to me. I'm sure he wouldn't want to see me upset, so if he wanted to do it, I can't possibly stop him, right? Weren't you just questioning my abilities? I don't think you'll question his abilities though, right?"
Fourth Cecil's lips trembled but he did not make any sound.
Eventually, he just hung his head weakly and never uttered a word again.
...
Ten minutes later, Lucy walked out with the signed divorce agreement.
Joel was originally sitting on a chair, but when he saw her, he immediately stood up.
"How was it?"
Lucy raised the copy of the agreement in her hand and smiled.
"It was a success."
Joel paused before a happy smile flashed on his face.
"That's good."
Lucy looked at him and did not know what came over her as she suddenly jumped over, hugged his waist, and buried her face into his chest.
Joel rarely saw her do this to him outside, so he was stunned. After a while, he put his hands on her and patted her back gently. Out of concern, he asked, "What's wrong?"
Lucy shook her head slowly.
It took several seconds for her to lift her face to look up at him. She then whispered, "Joel, it's so good to have you around."
Joel did not know exactly what had happened inside.
After he heard this, he was still stunned but soon after, he squinted his eyes in happiness.
He lowered his head, kissed the petite woman's lips, and said softly, "Then I'll stay with you always."
Lucy nodded her head heavily.
She stretched out her fingers and wanted him to give her a pinky promise.
"You promised! You have to stay by my side. You canât leave."
Joel stretched out his pinky solemnly and hooked it with hers to seal the deal.
Although the two of them were in their twenties, they were now acting like children who were a few years old, and both of them were happy to do so.
After they had sealed the deal, they looked at each other and smiled adoringly.
Now that the divorce agreement was in hand, the divorce was easy to settle.
With Joel's help, even without Fourth Cecil's personal appearance, they were able to get the divorce papers filed very smoothly.
Mama Katz looked at the divorce certificate in her hand, which she had wanted for a long time but had never been able to get. She was so emotional that she burst into tears.
When Lucy saw this, her heart ached as she hugged her mother and comforted her.
However, how could this comfort her?
For more than a decade, all the grievances she had suffered, the tears and bitterness that she had silently swallowed, all came crashing down at that moment.
Everyone knew that Fourth Cecil was bad to her.
Yet very few people were clear about how bad it was.
The physical suffering was light compared to the mental torture she had to endure.
At first, she was forced to marry Fourth Cecil so that she could give Lucy a good life.
Only after the marriage did she realize that he was not a good man, but a fire pit.
Later on, she had also proposed a divorce several times.
Each time, they all ended in failure.
When the argument became heated, Fourth Cecil would even threaten her with death threats against the mother-daughter pair.
She was worried that Lucy would be hurt, so she did not dare to mention it ever again.
The truth was, her wish for divorce never went away.
In fact, as early as a year after the marriage, she was already bearing all the expenses of the house on her own.
It did not really matter to her if she was the only one raising her child or if another person tagged along.
Anyhow, Fourth Cecil had never done anything else but cause trouble for the mother-daughter pair.
Now that she thought about it, all these years of suffering were actually self-inflicted.
In the end, her daughter and son-in-law were the ones who helped her to clean up this mess.
Mama Katz had mixed emotions of complicated grievance and a sense of relief.
The grievance was that no one could really understand the pain she had endured all these years.
Though it was comforting that Lucy had truly grown up now and had found someone she could truly rely on.

Lucy did not know what her mother was really thinking about.
Watching her mother cry made her feel so sad, so she kept comforting her.
At a time like this, it was not appropriate for Joel to be present.
After all, it was bonding time for the mother-daughter pair. The presence of a man would be more or less awkward.
Those emotions that were pent up in the bottom of Mama Katzâs heart could not be vented out in front of him either.
Therefore, as soon as he returned home, he silently went out to give them all the space and time they needed.
Mama Katz did not know how long she had been crying, but she finally stopped.
