Chapter 68
Spoiled by the President
Nellâs eyes deepened.
She was silent for a moment before saying, âIsnât that better? Itâs been five years since the incident and I didnât want to bring it up again, but if someone comes and deliberately picks a fight with me to make me unhappy, I shouldnât just let them off easily either, right?â
Janet was slightly surprised.
âNelly, did you think of a way to deal with them?â
Nellâs lips curled.
âYouâll know when the time comes.â
Time flew quickly, and a week soon passed.
Christmas was in two days. In Leith Corporationâs presidentâs office, Gideon looked at the scarf hanging on the shelf and smiled.
He pressed on the internal line and called Matthew in.
âPresident, you called?â
Gideon asked, âHave you settled the things I asked for?â
Matthew was stunned but quickly reacted to what Gideon was asking.
He hurriedly replied, âItâs done.â
âHm. Take me to have a look after work.â
âCertainly.â
After a pause, Matthew suddenly thought of something and pulled out an invitation from his pocket.
âPresident, this is an invitation for you from Azure High. Theyâre holding their 70th anniversary celebration this weekend and have invited you to attend. Do you want to go?â
Gideon paused.
He subconsciously felt that the name Azure High seemed familiar.
Matthew quickly reminded him. âThe Missus studied at this school.â
Gideon finally remembered that this seemed to be the case.
His expression was indifferent. âIs she going?â
âI believe she is.â
âThen Iâll go too!â
âUnderstood.â
In the evening, after Nell returned home, she had just finished taking a shower and came out when Gideon asked, âI heard that youâll be attending the school celebration the day after tomorrow?â
Nell turned around and saw him sitting on the sofa. She nodded. âYes, whatâs wrong?â
The manâs gaze seemed slightly bitter.
âThe day after tomorrow is Christmas.â
Nell was stunned.
Somewhat bewildered, she pointed to the scarf draped over the hanger that he had worn almost every day for the past week. âDidnât I already give you a gift?â
Gideon. â...â
His chest hurt.
However, he felt that he could still save it.
âWell, I have yet to repay you for that. Why donât we have dinner together that day?â
âThereâs no need. Iâve already agreed to eat with Jan. Weâll be going to the school celebration party afterward too!â
Gideon. â...â
âForget it. I give up.â
On the weekend, Nell got up early.
She was not in a hurry, but there was something she had to deal with at Xinghui, so she quickly settled those matters in order to attend the school celebration in the evening.
By the time she finished work, it was 3:00 pm.
Janet had already called her several times.
Nell picked up the phone. âMiss, I just finished my work and am on my way over now. Wait for me, ok?â
Janet was discontented. âIâve waited for you for two hours, Ms. Jennings. Since youâve already agreed to go to the celebration, canât you take it more seriously? Even if itâs not for the sake of the schoolâs reputation, can you at least dress up for the sake of standing out at the party?â
Nell laughed. âI still have three hours, donât I?â
âMy God!â Janet acted as if she heard a joke. âYou have to dress up, put on makeup, and style your hair. How would three hours be enough? Iâve already been preparing for two hours myself.â
Nell chuckled. âThatâs because youâre a celebrity whoâs taking part in the performance at night. As for me, Iâm just part of the audience sitting under the stage applauding you, so thereâs no need for me to dress up so grandly.â
Janet urged impatiently. âFine. I donât care if you want to be grand or not, but just hurry over here. Iâve been waiting for you here for a long time.â
âAlright, Iâll be right there.â
When she arrived at the studio where Janet was, she saw Janet sitting there with her hair already fixed. Janet was having her makeup done.
Seeing Nell arrive, Janet quickly said, âFirst things first, you have to listen to me today! Youâll wear whatever I tell you to wear, and youâll put on whatever makeup I tell you to put on. No objections or opinions allowed.â
Nell. â...â
Before she had the chance to respond, two stylists walked over.
Janet pointed at Nell and instructed them.
âThatâs her, my best friend. Make sure you dress her up beautifully for me today. If anyone surpasses her tonight, it means that thereâs something wrong with your technique. Iâll fire you all if that happens!â
The stylists quickly agreed.
Nell was slightly confused.
âJan, what are you doing?â
Janet gave her a mysterious smile.
âNelly! Do you see how well I treat you? Those b*tches with their eyes in the gutter look down on you and want to make fun of you, donât they? Well, I wonât let them! Tonight, my Nelly must be the most beautiful woman in the whole party!â
She reached out to tease Nell.
Nell could not help but laugh.
âAlright! Youâll call the shots.â
She knew that Janet was doing this for her. Besides, she had no intention of being a doormat tonight, so she went along with Janetâs plans.
After three hours, the both of them were ready.
The stylist had picked out a sky-blue hand-embroidered dress for Nell.
The dress had a tube-top design, and the chest, neck, and half of the arm areas were made of tulle. On top were hand-drawn floral designs inlaid with tiny diamonds that shimmered and glittered.
The bottom of the dress was in a fishtail design. From the chest to the thighs was a large blue ocean, but when it reached the calves, it transitioned into a transparent mesh that looked like stars that spread all the way to the fishtail hem. It was also full of hand-embroidered patterns that made it so people could not help but find the workmanship ingenious.
Nellâs figure was naturally good, but Janet had not expected that it would be this good.
The fishtail hem truly accentuated her figure.
Putting aside the curve on her bottom, her whole back was slender and straight, and the narrow lines on her waist were highlighted with a different kind of sexiness because of the open-back design.
In Janetâs words, she was drop-dead gorgeous!

It was said that people relied on their threads and makeup. It seemed like that was true.
The stylist also picked out a pair of silver high heels for her with a matching handbag and jewelry. She looked even more bright and charming.
Janet nodded and praised. âNelly, youâll definitely knock the breath out of everyone tonight. I guarantee it!â
Nell laughed.
She did not care if she stood out or not, but it suddenly occurred to her that since it was a school anniversary celebration and she was invited, a certain someone would be there as well!
There were those who wrung their fingers every day hoping that she would have a bad life. How could she just let them do as they pleased?
