Chapter 656
Spoiled by the President
The whole family was happy.
A while back, news from abroad that the perpetrator who killed Old K was found.
It was someone from the Chinese Association.
With the murderer located, what came after would not be as hard to deal with.
Although this involved many profit disputes between the Dragon Regiment and the Chinese Association, both parties did not want to let the grudge go on. It was better to handle the matter with each party taking a step back.
Gale, as the Bauhinia Clanâs leader, contributed the most help during this process.
It had eased off the tension in Nell and his relationship as a result.
No longer giving each other the silent treatment, the pair had begun to communicate. Gideon was most happy to see such a situation.
After all, Nell had little family in this world.
Sometimes, people needed family to offer comfort, just as during the New Year, where the more family the merrier.
Fortunately, now that they both were in a better place, Gale even came to the Leith Residence to pay a visit during New Year and Nell did not reject his existence.
In a way, she had acknowledged her relationship with Gale.
Observing the change in her, Gale was of course overjoyed.
This year ended with a bang.
Conversely, Janet did not spend the New Year in the capital nor did she follow Liam back to Country F.
Instead, she returned to Jincheng and celebrated the New Year in the Hancock Residence.
Before this, Father Hancock was on the verge of cutting ties with her because of the matter between her and Liam.
Nevertheless, as time went by, the father and daughterâs relationship went from a stalemate towards a path of recovery following the growth of the child.
Janetâs child was now two years old.
As he was at the age of learning to address people, he would cry out âGrandpa, grandpa!â through the call.
Father Hancockâs heart would simply melt.
In the beginning, Father Hancock resisted, refusing to give a response but in reality, he was moved beyond words.
Later, the little guy phoned the house several times and slowly, Father Hancock gave in and began to answer the child.
Following multiple exchanges, he really warmed up to the little guy.
Ulric might be married but there had not been any news of a child. Father Hancock dreamed day and night to have a grandchild but never had his wish fulfilled.
Now that he finally had a young grandchild who called out to him daily. What was there not to love about that sweet-talker of a child?
Yet, the little guy suddenly rarely put a call through after he was inseparable towards him.
According to Janet, the little guy had the flu and was not feeling too well, hence the lack of phone calls.
This left Father Hancock anxious.
He wanted to visit the little guy in the capital but could not swallow his pride.
Father Hancock and Janet were still giving each other the cold shoulder after all!
However, his mind was all over the place like an itch that would not leave if he did not go.
At last, Ulric was the one who gave him an out.
Ulric mentioned that it had been two years since Janet returned for the new year. Since they happened to be in the capital for the new year, they should return to Jincheng to celebrate.
Father Hancock softly scoffed, without verbally implying his thoughts but it seemed that he approved of the idea by his attitude.
Ulric helplessly burst into laughter, finding this proud old man who was young at heart rather impossible.
He gave Janet a call and luckily, Janet was sensible enough and decided to bring the child home for the new year on the spot.
Worried about the mother and child going there, Liam wanted to tag along.
This was fine with Ulric.
Janet and Liam were married for quite a while and their relationship had been stable. It was not as though they would never meet since they were a family anyway.
It was time for whatever that needed to be said to be brought out in the open.
Now was the opportunity to explain the many unresolved misunderstandings so that everyone could put a stop to the hurt and conflict brewing within.
Hence, Janet brought along Liam and the little guy back a few days before Lunar New Yearâs Eve.
Back in Jincheng, Father Hancock did not give them a hard time.
Nonetheless, he had been brushing Janet off. It was obvious that he was still angry.
Not to mention, he treated Liam as though he was invisible.
Liam was not bothered by it. The way he saw it, he was married to Janet, not Old Man Hancock.
He could not care less whether or not Father Hancock was concerned about him.
The only person not given the attitude by Father Hancock was the little guy.
The little guy may be two years old but he was one chubby baby.
He was as adorable as a little pastel sticky rice dumpling.
Father Hancock never got bored of kissing, hugging, and lifting him high up in the sky every day.
He was pushing sixty yet acted like a child himself, happily playing childish games with the little fellow.
Witnessing all this, Janet was actually touched.
Nevertheless, she was unable to take another step and break the ice due to her fatherâs perseverance.
Fortunately, the little guy was witty to catch on or something. He would drag his mother along to find grandpa every time.
Even if Father Hancock refused to acknowledge Janet, he would at least say a few words for the childâs sake.
They were biological father and daughter after all. The fact that blood was thicker than water was evidence that their relationship would never change.
As they spent time together, the situation between Janet and Father Hancock grew less tense.
Moreover, Father Hancock could tell that the two years had turned Janet less naive and hot-tempered as she was two years ago.
She was currently more mature and introverted. Perhaps it was because she had a child that she began to see many things from a different point of view.
Indeed, she was very different than before.
Father Hancock was deeply moved but just could not bring himself to say so.
Nonetheless, someone had to make the first move. Since Father Hancock refused to break the ice, it was up to Janet to do it.
One night, the whole family had just finished dinner when Father Hancock wanted to take the little guy to the yard for a fun time.
Janet suddenly spoke up, âDad, I want to talk to you.â
Dumbstruck, Father Hancock tilted his head and threw her a glance. Surprisingly, he did not refuse.
Instead, he asked with a straight face, âTalk about what?â
Pursing her lips, Janet took a glance at Liam who was close by.
Liam leisurely rested his back over there, with folded arms. No emotions could be read from his face.
However, he looked towards her with eyes of encouragement.
Janet softly answered, âLetâs talk in the study upstairs.â
Father Hancock held his tongue for a short moment. He still did not refuse.
Handing the little guy in his arms over to Ulric, he then led the way upstairs.
Janet followed behind and when she passed by Ulric, the latter raised his fist to cheer her on.
Unable to hold back, she chuckled.
