Chapter 718
Spoiled by the President
The house was not very big, and looked rather run down. Even the blankets on the bed were ripped.
But compared to Floraâs damp little mud house, this was a hundred times better.
Nancy carefully closed the door after they stepped in, and pressed her ear against the door to listen for any sounds.
After confirming that all was quiet outside and that the other two people had gone downstairs to rest, she breathed a sigh of relief and dragged Nell to one of the beds in the house and sat her down.
âLet me have a look, quickly. Are you alright? You really scared me to death! Do you have any idea how worried I was when I couldn't find you after I woke up?!â
Nancy said, tugging at her back and forth.
Nell resigned to Nancy fussing over her for a while before getting her to stop, âIâm perfectly fine. I'm more worried about you, I heard you hurt your leg, is it okay? How serious is it?â
When she walked in earlier Nell noticed that Nancyâs was limping on her left leg, and the leg was swollen really badly.
Nancy quickly reassured her, âIâm fine. I tripped on a rock on my way here and broke my leg. I wrapped it up myself with the help of the others. Itâs nothing serious, I just need to rest for a while.â
Upon hearing that, Nell knew that it was more serious than that.
After all, it was broken, not dislocated. You can pop a joint back in a socket but you can not unbreak a bone. Nancy only said that to keep Nell from worrying.
Nell mulled it over before gently patting Nancyâs hand and saying, âRest and recover first. Weâve reunited so we can think of a way out later. Weâll deal with problems as they come.â
Nancy nodded.
The sky had gotten dark, and the duo decided to lay down on the bed with their clothes on.
This was the most peace Nell had felt in days.
It was as if any dangerous situation felt safer as long as Nancy was by her side.
Then, they both exchanged information on what they had learnt about their surroundings.
Nell talked about the village they were in previously and the village they were currently in.
Nancy also told her about what had happened here.
Only then did Nancy realize that the village they were in was called Quatro Village, and compared to Flos Village, that they were in previously, this place was even more remote.
Quatro did not have good transportation or connection to the outside world. The villagers here barely leave the area even once a year.
Anything they needed, they provided themselves.
If it was something the village did not have, they would have to travel dozens of kilometers out to the nearest grocery store and buy it from the owner.
Any produce worth some money would also be brought there to be sold.
Nancy was stuck for only two days in such a tiny and secluded village, but she had discovered something surprising.
The men in the village outnumbered the women.
Not only that, the women that did exist appeared dull and listless.
She was well aware of that when she had been rescued from the foot of the mountain.
Since she was taken to the village, Nancy could clearly see the glances from every single person from every single household.
They were staring at her like she was some sort of... alien.
All their gazes held some form of confusion, disinterest, even hints of pity. It made Nancy feel uncomfortable.
Still, she could not figure out why these people were looking at her like that.
She could not leave the house at all these two days due to her leg.
Though, Nancy was about to lose her mind with just Fred and that wife of his.
It was harmless, but the look in their eyes when they gazed at her did not feel like they were looking at a person.
It felt more like they were looking at a valuable product. Like she was... livestock.
Nancy could not describe the look in their eyes. All she knew is that it made her feel especially uncomfortable and very out of place.
Thus, she waited for Nell to come over.
They could definitely think of a good plan once they reunited.
After hearing this, Nell realized that she was not the only one that thought it was weird.
When she was in Flos Village, she felt that the village was... strange.
Flora appeared to be kind and rescued her, but in reality what she did was call on a bunch of children to look at her, and sweet talk her, as if they were so afraid of losing her.
The first thing to address is not whether she would go missing. Nell was an ordinary young adult, if she was thrown into a completely unfamiliar place, she would not simply run around.
That was why when Flora called all those children over, Nell believed that it was not out of concern.
It instead felt more like some sort of surveillance.
Still, because she was on their home turf, she kept it to herself and felt uncomfortable saying it out.
It was just something that she felt after all. What if the people were not like that, and saying it just made everything awkward?
Knowing that Nancy also felt the same way lifted a huge weight off her shoulders, she was not just imagining it.
At this point, Nell felt quiet.
She looked into the distant and unending darkness and a thought came to her, âNancy, don't you think... it feels like we fell into a traffickerâs den?
Nancy froze.
Her eyes widened in disbelief.
âIt- it can't be!â
Though Nancy had also felt like something was amiss, she had not thought that far ahead.
Nell sighed.
Spoiled by the President ï¤Chapter 717 They Meet Again Wrong Ride, Right Lover âI really hope not, but based on what I've seen the past two days and your information, I'm afraid that may be the case.â
âWhat do we do?â
Even the usually calm and collected Nancy could not stay calm after hearing that possibility.
If this really is a village that deals in human trafficking, they would not be afraid even if we could fight. Two young ladies that have no clue where they are, no idea where the way back home is, and no method of communication. To escape is no easy task.
Nell mulled it over and shook her head.
âWe have no other options, so let's take it one step at a time. Luckily, it seems that they don't have any intention of hurting us right now. I assume it's to make sure that weâre powerless and not suspicious of anything. But that works out fine for us, we also need the time to make sure youâre fully healed.â
Nancy knew that what she said was true.
No matter where they were from, or what they were up to.
The biggest problem was Nancyâs injury.
The first thing to do to escape was to heal that injury, if not they were not going anywhere.
Nancy closed her eyes as she thought that, and prepared to rest for the night.
Nell did not say anything but thought to herself, âwhat was Gideon doing right now?â
He probably caught wind that she was in trouble, so what would he do?
In a place thousands of kilometers away, he could not help even if he wanted to. Even if he had long hands, it could never stretch as far as she was right now.
