Chapter 721

Spoiled by the President

Karen explained, “This is a family tradition, you weave together a red bracelet for yourself every year on your own birthday as a blessing to yourself.

Nell could not help but take a closer look and smiled, “It looks beautiful, does everyone here do this?”

Karen froze and solemnly shook her head.

“No. They don't.”

“Huh?”

The two were taken aback, wide-eyed.

At that moment, Fred came back.

Karen lowered her head and ended the previous conversation.

Fred noticed them sitting there together and asked, “What were you talking about?”

Nell and Nancy shared a look before looking at him and smiling, “Nothing much, we were talking about how the doctor earlier was really skilled.

Nancy’s leg was hurting just now but once he reapplied the medicine and bandages it stopped hurting!”

As she spoke, Karen’s fingers trembled a little.

However, she said nothing.

Fred smiled upon hearing that.

“But of course, everyone in the village goes to him for any treatments, big or small. If he can't cure you, no one else can.”

Following that statement, he turned to Karen. “Make two extra dishes tonight for the young ladies so that their bodies can better recover. Injuries sap your vitality, after all, if you eat well you recover faster.”

Karen nodded and turned to leave.

Nell and Nancy breathed a sigh of relief when Fred also left after giving his instructions.

True to the letter, dinner was absolutely sumptuous.

Before dinner rolled around, villagers had flocked to the house to see the two foreign ladies, like they were models in a showcase.

When Nancy was alone in the village, not many people knew about them.

After Nell was brought over though, it spread like wildfire. They were not sure who, but the guess was the young man that handled the ox cart that night.

Everyone ran over out of pure curiosity.

Nell noticed that many of the villagers were men in their twenties and thirties.

Their gazes looked like a pack of hungry wolves that saw some delicious sheep.

Needless to say, the feeling was highly uncomfortable.

Nell and Nancy were not local though, so they did not feel it was right to point it out.

All they could do was force a smile and sit there awkwardly greeting everyone.

Only when dinner time approached did everyone leave.

Fred returned home and looked very happy. He even drank a few extra beers at dinner.

Nell and Nancy went back to their room after dinner.

The two rested for a while and Nell took a look at Nancy’s leg. When they washed up for bedtime, Nell suddenly had a bit of a stomach ache.

She got up and told Nancy, “I’m going to the washroom for a bit. Will you be alright on your own?”

Nancy nodded, but was slightly concerned if Nell would be afraid at night since there was not a single light source. “Do you want me to go with you?”

“It’s alright.”

Nell waved her hand dismissively.

She knew that it was not convenient for Nancy to move around, how could she have the heart to make her come with her?

Nancy understood and did not insist.

Nell got off the bed and put on her slippers before she headed downstairs.

She trod lightly, and due to her stomach ache, all she wanted was to get to the toilet, so she did not notice anything around her.

Finally, she made it. It was only after finishing her business that she noticed that there was a single light source floating midair not too far off.

It felt out of place.

In such a remote area, once night falls most people would have gone to bed. There should not be any light outside at this time of night.

They were not like city folk with a thriving nightlife.

Not to mention the light was coming from outside a house, not the inside.

Washrooms in villages like this are not constructed inside the house, normally they are built behind the kitchens as a dry toilet.

To get there one would have to go downstairs, open the back door, and walk a little bit further out to get to the washroom.

Thus, for Nell to get back to the room after that was quite the walk.

To think that on the way back she would see some people standing outside the house.

Judging from the silhouettes, there was not one, but two people.

It was a faint light that likely came from one of the two people’s torches.

Curiously, Nell walked over.

The stone house was built as a square and the two people were standing on the corner facing the front of the house.

Nell was worried she would be seen so she dared not get too close. All she could do was hug the walls and peer over the corner.

Both parties stood separated by the corner along the stretch of wall.

In the dead of the night, a man’s voice rang out, “30 thousand dollars?! That’s daylight robbery! Don't you take me for a fool, Karen and the others told us when they were shipped over that one of them was married and even had a child. They’re not virgins! Who wants something so expensive and not pure?”

Following that voice, came an older male voice.

Nell could tell that it was Fred.

He sounded like he was still smoking, she could hear a puffing noise coming from him. He drawled, “If you’re gonna complain that it’s too expensive you don't have to buy!. One of them is a virgin, and she’s also 30 thousand, how about you pick her instead?”

“I....”

The man fell silent. He seemed hesitant.

Fred laughed out loud.

“If you’re greedy for a nice-looking one you gotta pay the price for it. We’re from the same village, that’s why I asked you first. If you want I’ll hand her over to you for that price, if not I’ll ship them over to the next village for a cheaper price.”

The man panicked upon hearing that.

“But that’s still really expensive! You know how my family is currently like, we can't fork out so much money in such a short time!”

Fred went silent, mulling it over before continuing.

“Look, I’ll be honest with ya. These girls were sent over by Karen and her people, I just played middleman to make some money. When the deal goes through I still have to split a large portion of the cash with them! I can't lower the price any further. “

Following that, he added, “So, final offer. Do ya want it or not?”

The man quickly replied, “Yes, yes. Of course, I do.”

“Then remember the price I gave you. Not even a dime less.”

“That...” the other party seemed to hesitate, but then firmly exclaimed. “Oh, what the hell! I’m willing to do this! When I’ve saved up enough I’ll come and find you. But we’ve agreed okay? I’m making my booking and you can't bring anyone else to see them!”

Fred laughed again.

“Don't you worry. That little doll still has to heal her injury, if she’s not in top shape I can't sell her for a good price. They still have to stay here for a month.”

“I don't want to use force so I’ll nicely explain it to them for the next month. If they’re smart, they’ll understand they can't escape. They might even give up after that.”
