Chapter 729
Spoiled by the President
Nell Jennings and Nancy Murray covered their mouths and noses with the damp cloth.
It was only after a while that the smell faded and the door was pushed open with a creak.
Only then did they quickly remove the wet towel from their faces and chucked them to a corner.
The dark room was lit by a dim light. Two sneaky shadows came over to the side of the bed and carefully scrutinized the two girls on the bed.
Nell only felt something shake above her face, which had created some movement in the air.
Then, a man's low voice could be heard.
"They fainted. You guys can come over to inspect the goods!"
As he said this, they could hear the sound of footsteps.
By the sound of chaotic footsteps, there seemed to be more than one person.
The bright light was brought to their cheeks and Nell could almost feel the warmth of the light shining beside her.
In response to that, her heart went completely cold.
She heard an unfamiliar male voice say, "Well, good. Both of them are good."
Fred smiled nervously and said, "Then the price...â
"Let's go with the price you said! Help me carry them to the car outside."
"Okay!"
Nell felt someone picked her up.
She felt a great sense of insecurity from the feeling of weightlessness in her body.
However, neither she nor Nancy moved, just as they had planned to do so before.
As her body shifted with the manâs pace, she could feel the other person carry her down the stairs. Then, the door creaked open and a cold breeze hit her face.
She knew they were now outside.
"Just put her in the back of that car."
A man commanded the other two and placed them on a tricycle with a metal carriage.
Nell only felt slightly relieved when she felt her weight and her entire body was finally next to solid ground.
âClunk!â
They could hear the metal door slam shut, followed by a metal clanking sound as if someone had locked the doors from the outside.
It became dark all around.
There was the sound of men chattering and whispering outside.
They were discussing something or making a deal.
After a while, the dealing was done and both sides laughed a few times.
Nell felt the front of the car sink as if someone had sat on it, then it was followed by a whimpering roar and the vehicle started up with a rumble.
The night was silent and the vehicle swayed on the uneven mountain road.
They did not know how long it took before Nell tried to open her eyes carefully.
There was only darkness all around, and the trunk that they were in was so dark that she could not see her own fingers in front of her.
Next to her, Nancy had also opened her eyes.
Neither of them spoke. Instead, they entwined their fingers with each other to tell the other that they were fine.
Beneath them were hard, cold planks of wood. The wheels bounced up and down on the rough mountain road.
Neither of them dared to speak and just stared wide-eyed into darkness.
No one knew where these men were taking them, but it was still better than meeting the professional killers who were after them.
Therefore, both of them had a good sense not to resist and just allowed themselves to be brought into the trunk.
Since they arrived in this village, everywhere Nell and Nancy had seen was almost out of the convenience of modern society.
There was no electricity, no communication, and not even a decent piece of furniture or transportation.
That day was the first time that they rode on an electric tricycle powered by electricity, but they did not expect it to be under such circumstances.
At this point, both of them did not know whether to laugh or cry.
Nancy moved towards Nell and put her head to her ear. She whispered very faintly, "Who are they? Where are we going?"
Nell thought about it.
She was not sure who the other party was, but as for where they were going, she had some guesses.
She pursed her lips and silently wrote a word on Nancy's hand: Town.
Nancy was a little surprised.
"How do you know?"
"Guess so."
She remembered that it was only a short time ago that she had asked Uncle Fred where she could make a phone call.
Uncle Fred had said at the time that it was only available in a town, which was a few miles away.
More importantly, he had revealed one piece of information at that time.
That was, if the town had a telephone, then it must have electricity.
As all the villages in a radius of several miles were not connected to electricity, and only that one town was connected to electricity, it was conceivable that this electric tricycle could have come from there.
Nancy did not think too much about it.
She just silently held the dagger at her waist. Her body was tense like an arrow on a stretched bow as if she could jump up and hurt someone at any moment.
After about an hourâs drive, the vehicle finally stopped.
The two of them looked at each other, but neither spoke.
They held their breaths and listened intently to the movement outside.
A man's shout could be heard using the local dialect, and it was unknown who he was shouting to.
Nell could conclude that at that time, the car had not yet arrived in town and they should still be somewhere in the countryside.
Soon, there was a chaotic sound of footsteps.
Outside the trunk, she heard the sound of someone exchanging pleasantries and was mixed with some laughter.
Both herself and Nancy's faces sank.
A bad feeling arose in her heart.
Sure enough, the metal door of the carriage was suddenly opened from the outside.
A line of torchlights mixed with bright moonlight shone in. When Nell and Nancy looked up, they saw 3 men standing in front of them.
"Yo, theyâre awake? Didn't Old Fred say that the drugs would work for hours? Why did they wake up so quickly?"
The large man who was standing in the middle was confused.
He should be the one who had picked them up at Uncle Fredâs house previously, and beside him, two other men were standing there.
Those two men looked much more decently dressed than the one in front of them.
They were dressed in an old but clean light sweater and grey trousers at the bottom. They also had well-groomed hair.
Although they still looked a little out of place, it was better than Uncle Fred and their countryside look.
The two men sized up Nell and Nancy, smiled in satisfaction, and nodded their heads repeatedly.
"Good, good! Theyâre nice and worth the price!" He said while he opened the wallet that had been clamped under his armpit and took a very thick wad of money out of it.
"Here's the final payment. You guys count it, and we'll take them if it's okay."
"Yeah, great, great!"

Soon, he was done counting.
"That's right, man. I'll leave them to you then."
"Okay. Weâll take the car too, then I'll have someone send it back to you later."
"Okay, no problem." the man said.
He then waved at them, turned around, and walked away.
It was not until the man had walked away from them that the two men bumped fists and laughed. They came over to the carriage to take a closer look at the two dainty little faces of Nell and Nancy. One of them said, "Brother, we've got a good deal!"
