Chapter 79
Spoiled by the President
Just as she suspected, Morton frowned.
Celine let out a sigh of relief inwardly.
At least, he still cared about her.
Surely, he would come to her rescue to see her wronged!
To her dismay, Jason coarsely responded, âJust walk the other way when you see her the next time!â
Celine was caught in a moment. She widened her eyes in disbelief.
Unable to believe her ears, Celine stared at Jason in skepticism. âWhat-what did you say?â
Jason was growing impatient.
âItâs always a tit for tat every time you two meet. It seems as though sheâs the unreasonable one but in truth, you stirred the pot. Celine, it was wrong for us to be together so it is only right that she hates you. Why bother putting yourself in such situations?â
Celineâs mind was blown.
Glancing at this man before her, she could not believe that those words actually came from his mouth.
Tears started to well up in her eyes.
âBrother Jay, do you think... I stir trouble with my sister on purpose?
Jason frowned.
In the end, he helplessly explained, âThatâs not what I mean. I just want you to walk the other way.â
âWhy should I walk the other way? Are you saying that I shouldnât go anywhere Nell is present at? Jason Morton, how could you say those words? I know I did her wrong but Iâm trying my hardest to make it up for her. What else do you expect me to do?
âDo I need to die to make her happy? Will you be pleased then? If thatâs the case, why did you bother getting involved with me? Since you like her so much, isnât it better if you two were together?â
Hysterical, Celine cried out.
Discoloration ran on Jasonâs face.
Putting his hand over her mouth, Jason glanced around before hushing her. âQuiet down!â
Wailing, Celine was choked up out of grievance.
It tugged at Jasonâs heartstrings to see her in such a state.
Pulling her into his embrace, he consoled her, âI donât mean any of that. Why would I like her? I only have eyes for you. I just donât want any more conflict between you two.
âYou know youâre soft. Youâll always be the one at a disadvantage when you two come to blows. My heart aches to see you like this, do you understand?â
Celine bawled. âI think your heart aches more for her.â
âWhy are you saying now, huh?â
Jason soothed her in a gentle voice, âI feel for you. Youâre my fiancée, the mother of my child.â
He placed his hand gently on her tummy.
Celineâs intention was never to have a falling out. After the act of consoling, she should quit while she was at it.
Yet, the envy and fury within her had already erupted like an active volcano. There was no stopping it.
Who did Nell think she was?
Nell and Jason had already split up, but why was Nell still hogging this manâs heart?
After all that Celine had been through, she wanted to see nothing come out of it.
Fortunately for her, that woman was stupid enough to put on airs.
As long as she got her hands on the real manuscript, try as Nell might, she would not be able to clear her name of theft and frame tonight!
With that in mind, Celine secretly took a deep breath and suppressed her raging grudge.
On the other side.
The guest rooms on the twelfth floor.
Mia snuck out of the lift and found room 1201.
She had enquired at reception. Nell was staying in this room.
Celine had someone sort out the keycard. Her task was to get in and steal the manuscript from the computer.
Mia stuck the keycard on the door.
The door opened with a beep.
Filled with delight, she took a glance around to make sure no one was looking before sprinting in.
It was pitch-dark in the room.
Without the courage to turn on the lights, Mia switched on the torch on her phone to fumble for the computer. She turned it on.
The time to start the computer took some time. As she was patiently waiting, she suddenly heard a soft creak behind her.
Jumping, Mia turned over and shouted, âWhoâs there?â
Within the four walls of the dark room, there was nothing.
Her face turned pale. For some reason, her heart was pounding as an unsettled feeling overwhelmed her.
However, she could just quit at this point. It was not as though she could just leave now that she was here. She had to get her hands on the item.
Mia composed herself and took courage while rummaging through the computer for the manuscript.
Nell brought along a laptop. The same model she used at home.
There were not many documents inside. Soon, Mia found something that resembled a freehand design blueprint.
Overjoyed, she dished out a flash drive to copy the document.
To her surprise, this happened.
âClick!â
The lights were suddenly turned on in the room.
A chilling female voice was heard.
âWhat are you doing?â
Scared out of her wits, Mia turned over for a look. In plain sight was a young woman standing by the door. It was not Nell, but Janet!
âWhat-what are you doing here?â
Janet scoffed.
âThis is my room and youâre asking me what am I doing here?â
âYour room? Isnât this...â
She abruptly widened her eyes. Hit with a realization, she stared at Janet in shock.
âThis is a set up!â
âHumph! Itâs too late to find out now.â
With the situation working against her, Mia made a run for it.
Mia had only made it to the door when she realized that a few security personnel were waiting to stop her.
Throwing her a cold glance, Janet curled her lips.
âSpare yourself the energy. Of course I made preparations since I knew you were coming. Just surrender!â
The second floor was connected to the lobby by a revolving staircase.
The ballroom was still engaged in liveliness and auspiciousness.
To Nellâs delight, the attendees of the ball were not limited to just public figures. Her favorite fashion designer, Amy was here.
Nell had received news that Amy was friends with the headmasterâs granddaughter. She was supposed to be on vacation around the country but the headmasterâs granddaughter extended the invitation in light of the celebration.
This was exciting news to Nell.

It was during then when a server whisked down the stairs.
The server took quick paces towards his leader to say something. With the latterâs face seeing a change of emotion, he excused himself in a huff.
Nell silently curled her lips.
She put down the wine glass in her hand and took strides to the lift.
âSister.â
It was Celineâs voice emerging behind her.
âSister, the ball has not ended. Why are you in a hurry to leave?â
Nell turned back to look at her with a fake smile.
âIâm tired and I want to go back to my room and rest. Is there a problem?â
The smile on Celineâs face seemed forceful.
âNo. Itâs still early. There are many big names attending tonight. Why donât you stay and have some fun a little longer?â
