Chapter 82

Spoiled by the President

Mia came to a sudden realization.

It was premeditated all along.

Celine said those words on purpose to provoke her into stealing the document while she extricated herself from the dirty work and remained untouched in the aftermath.

Even if the matter was exposed, the only one guilty was Mia.

Mia stared at Celine in disbelief and for the first time, she did not know who this woman was.

“Celine, can you speak with a clear conscience for once? I brought you new clothes when your clothes were soiled. We made a deal in your room.

You’ll stall Nell from returning to her room and I’ll help you steal the manuscript. Why won’t you admit to it?”

Celine frowned deeply.

This idiot!

Why was Mia still up on her case?

As long as Celine remained above suspicion on the outside, she could bail Mia from the police station.

However, Mia was dragging her down along with her. How stupid could she be?

Although frustrated, Celine was left with no choice.

She clenched her teeth. “I said, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Mia nodded in disappointment. “Fine, fine. So you’re refusing to admit, right? I guess you’re not afraid of me spilling the beans about your past deeds.”

Celine’s face saw a change of emotion.

“What are you rambling about?”

Nell answered with joy, “What deeds are you speaking of? Why don’t you share a thing or two? You’ll never know, I might not call the cops if I’m amused.”

Mia turned to her. “Can I take your word for it?”

Nell raised a brow. “I can give you my word if it interests me and it’s true.”

Celine shrieked, “Shut up!”

Instead, Mia turned her back on Celine.

Scoffing, Mia glared at Celine with bitter hatred before harshly announcing, “I’m sure no one knows, the innocent girl-next-door, Celine Jennings is in fact, a wh*re that stole her sister’s boyfriend!”

What?

Those words sent shockwaves through the crowd.

Wh*re? What was the situation, really?

Was Celine’s boyfriend not Jason Morton?

It was said that they both had been together for years and an arranged betrothal between them was fixed since childhood. How did she end up the boyfriend-stealing wh*re?

Mia let out a wicked smile. “You must be taken by surprise. There’s nothing surprising though. Jason’s fiancé was not meant to be her but her sister.

In other words, Nell Jennings who was once Eldest Miss Jennings. It was Celine who walked off with the Eldest Miss title and stole Nell’s boyfriend!

Celine even told the public that she was Jason’s fiancé. They shared the same last name anyway. Since everyone was in the dark to begin with, they believe it to be true.”

Even Jason’s face turned blue.

“Mia Bell, are you out of your mind? What’s this nonsense about?”

Mia coldly blurted, “I’ve not gone mad!”

Her voice cowered in tearful sobs.

“Celine Jennings knew how hard it was for me. She came up with the idea today and had me steal the manuscript but she intended to use me as a scapegoat. She knows nothing will happen to her if she just owned up to it but she doesn’t even dare to do so.

“Why? Why do I deserve to take the blame for you? You might face a tiny bit of criticism if you admit but I face jail time if I don’t tell the truth!

“Do you know what it does to me? It means everything that I have worked for will be ruined because of this! I’m not stupid. You can ditch the pawn to save the queen but I have every right to fight back!”

Celine had the urge to stuff a cloth in Mia’s mouth.

However, it was too late. With the surrounding rising to a clamor, people were just in utter denial.

They threw Celine and Jason a contemptuous look.

“How did it end up like this? I always thought that Celine and Jason were a pair. I didn’t think she would be... a boyfriend stealer.”

“Who says she isn’t? Thinking back, the disguise of innocence really leaves a bad taste in my mouth.”

“That said, I recalled a certain event. Celine and Nell have the same father but different mothers. Celine’s mother was the mistress and she hounded the first wife to death!”

“What? For real?”

“It was way back when. I was still in school then and heard my parents mention it.”

“The first wife of the Jennings, isn’t that Nell’s mother?”

“Oh my god! What in the world is going on? The mistress stole the mother’s husband, the mistress’ daughter stole her boyfriend. Nell Jennings sure has it hard!”

“I’ll go mad living in that household!”

Countless reproach filled the room.

The faces of the few standing in the living area twisted between different shades of color.

Mia approached Nell with caution. “Nell Jennings, I have laid bare. Can you let me go now?”

Though her lips were curled, Nell’s eyes were imperceptible without a hint of amusement.

“I thought you were going to reveal some breaking news. It’s just this.”

With her life hanging on by a thread, Mia grabbed her hands and begged, “Didn’t you always like Jason Morton? Now that it’s revealed to the public, you still have a chance to be with Young Master Morton. Please, just let me off the hook. I promise you that I’ll never help Celine harm you. Please, I’m begging you.”

Nell callously shook her hand off.

As her gaze swept past the ashen Jason who was standing beside Celine, she faintly answered, “I don't intend to take back anything I throw away. As for you...”

She indifferently chuckled. “So be it!”

Mia was in a daze for two seconds before coming to grips that Nell was not suing her anymore.

She was overjoyed.

As for Jason, he was struck with a blow by her statement that she would take back anything that was thrown away. Color faded off his already ashen face.

At the same time, a complete racket occurred on the outside.

“I heard that the thief was caught? What’s it all about?”

It was the headmaster of Azure High.

The principal was here!

The headmaster’s voice turned Celine and Mia’s complexion brooding.

“What are you huddling up here for? Where’s the thief? Didn’t someone say he was caught? Where is he?”

“Headmaster, the thief is inside!”

The crowd got out of the way, allowing the gray-haired old man to pass through amid the sea of people.

The headmaster of Azure High, Oliver Jones was Mrs. Jones’ firstborn and also the present man in power of the Joneses.

The sight of Nell standing in the living room took him by surprise, as though he did not expect her to be here. Oliver quickly bounced back with a smile.

“Oh, Nell Jennings, it’s you. What’s wrong? Did someone steal your stuff?”

It never occurred to him that Nell would point at Mia.

“She’s here and caught.”

Mia froze.

Returning to her senses, Mia waved her hand in the air and explained.

“No-no, headmaster. I didn’t steal anything. I-i was merely helping Celine to retrieve an item. We’ve cleared the air already.”

Celine furiously rebuked, “It’s nothing but lies with you! Who would believe you?”
