Chapter 838
Spoiled by the President
She saw Reinaâs information on the document.
Vickie gasped, wide-eyed with shock.
âReina?! How could it have been her?â
Gregory laughed coldly. âIndeed, I was surprised too. I believed that since the poisoning happened in the secondary kitchen, as the kitchen maid, sheâd be the most suspicious and never do such a stupid thing.
âBut itâs likely she realized that and used it to her advantage. Everyone would believe that she couldnât have been the culprit. Yet she was the one behind this. It was just a pity that she was rather careless because my men found the leftover arsenic in her room.â
Vickie was horrified.
She looked up at him.
âDid she confess?â
Gregory nodded. âYes, she did.â
Vickie felt conflicted.
Earlier when Yuliana was accusing her of sabotaging her, Vickie even stood up for Reina since she felt sorry for her.
To think that the person she helped in the past turned out to be her assailant.
Just what kind of person could just turn around and bite the hand that fed them like this?
Rage surged through Vickie âWhere is she?â
âDead.â
A surprising outcome.
Vickie was taken aback. Gregory also furrowed his brows and sighed. âShe committed suicide. After the incident, she figured that she was going to be in trouble or maybe she was afraid of us interrogating her, so she ingested the poison and killed herself. Arsenic is highly toxic and even though I got the doctor to come immediately, it was too late.â
Vickie fell silent.
Her gaze was a little chilly and Gregory knew that she was not pleased.
After some silence, she asked, âAre you sure that sheâs the only one? There were no other accomplices?â
He shook his head.
âI only got Reina for now at least, if there was an accomplice we havenât found them yet. I got my men to comb through her home and where she usually works but there was nothing else suspicious. As for whether thereâs an accomplice in the chateau, I canât give a definite answer yet.â
Vickieâs face scrunched up.
This was Gregoryâs home turf and even he was not able to be certain.
That meant that the other party had hidden themselves well.
There was an indescribable feeling in Vickieâs chest and she could not seem to put her finger on what it was. It felt like there was a fog covering everything and you could not see in front of you. The truth was shrouded in mystery.
However, not all was lost. She was given some leads and as long as she kept looking, the answer would reveal itself.
In the end, the pair did not come to any solid conclusions.
The only certain thing was that from today onward, Vickie had to move into the main building with Gregory for her own safety.
Vickie had no objections to the suggestion.
Even though she still had no idea what Gregory was thinking, she knew that as long as she declined, he would not lay a finger on her.
Thus, moving to the main building was no loss to her. She was safer there.
Since saving her, Vickie also no longer rejected Gregory like she used to.
However, as for him and Yuliana...
That was for them to deal with. Yuliana had not said she wanted to get back with Gregory right away. It was none of her business anyway, With that, Vickie relaxed.
Gregory was a man of his word. The move was swift.
When they went down for lunch after their discussion, he immediately ordered Mr. Osborne to send some people to move Vickieâs things over.
Vickie did not have many things to begin with anyway.
When she left, she packed two suitcases, and they were not even opened.
As for the other things in the secondary building such as clothes or shoes, none of it needed to be moved since the primary building had it anyway.
Vickie watched him order Mr. Osborne and wondered if he was being a little hasty.
Come to think of it, they would be retreating to their rooms after lunch anyway.
The only thing was that her face felt hot when Mr. Osborne looked at her.
With that, Vickie and Gregory made their way to the dining hall.
Upon arriving, they noticed that Yuliana had already returned to her room after eating.
Gregory did not seem to care. To Vickie, the way he treated Yuliana a few days ago was rather odd.
She could not figure out what went on in this manâs brain.
Still, she was not prepared to ask a question like that.
What she said earlier still stood. Whatever was between Gregory and Yuliana was their own business, regardless if it were real or fake. It was none of her business.
They had a peaceful lunch and sure enough, when they finished, Mr. Osborne had efficiently gotten the room cleared out and moved all her things perfectly.
Vickie thanked him and with his guidance, headed to the new room.
The main building had three floors. Mr. Osborne arranged for her room to be on the second floor. The room was huge and everything inside it was very well equipped. She could tell he put his heart into it.
There was a large balcony in the back of the room and under it was a flower garden. She could see lots of flora and fauna from the balcony. A little further off was a pond with lotus flowers blooming in it.
Needless to say, the scenery was much better here compared to the secondary building.
After Mr. Osborne had finished a tour of the room, he turned to leave.
Vickie politely escorted him to the door. Mr. Osborne turned around, smiled, and said, âYoung Masterâs room is right beside yours. If thereâs something that you need and isnât convenient for us to handle, just go to him.â
Vickie stood frozen for a split second, unsure why her heart suddenly skipped a beat.
She pretended to notice the suggestive glint in Mr. Osborneâs eye and responded, âThank you. I think everything will be alright.â
He nodded before leaving with a smile.
After he left only did Vickie head back into her room.
First, she made a round inside the room and figured out where everything was placed before getting ready to change into a more comfortable outfit for the afternoon.
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
Vickie stopped and turned to the door to ask, âWho is it?â
âItâs me.â
Andreaâs delicate voice floated from the other side of the door.
Vickie was surprised but instantly welcomed her in happily.
âCome in!â
Andrea was the person she liked and trusted the most in the chateau. Gregory likely knew that and did not switch out her maid despite being moved to the main building. Even after her return, he still got Andrea to serve her.
After all, people in the main building were screened and selected strictly.
