Chapter 87
Spoiled by the President
Hayley took a quick pace to come in her way.
Nell frowned.
âYes?â
âYou have the balls to ask me? Tell me! What did you do to Sister Celine that she ended up like this!â
Oliver had promised that he would announce the results of the competition to the public to clear her name.
However, the doctor had advised against overwhelming Celine in her current state. Otherwise, her life might be in danger.
Nell could not care less whether she was dead or alive, but she did not want a murder charge on her record. Hence, she agreed to have the announcement postponed to a later date.
It was the reason why Hayley was still in the dark of the truth.
All she knew was that Nell was the cause of Celineâs ill predicament.
One glance at Nell and Hayley just hated her guts.
Nell faintly smiled.
The look she gave Hayley was as though she was staring at someone with mental disabilities.
âHayley Morton, donât you know? Idiocy is also a sickness. You need to seek treatment!â
Hayley blew her top. âNell Jennings! Are you saying Iâm sick in the head?â
Nell helplessly shook her head. âI guess you must be sick in the head.â
Hayley was so riled up. The girl beside her immediately offered comfort. âHayley, donât be angry. Itâs not worth your health.â
She then turned to Nell. âNell Jennings, how can you say that about Hayley? Even if you despite Celine Jennings, you canât take it out on Hayley! She is Jasonâs sister after all. Donât you think youâve crossed the line?â
Nell merely threw a glance at her, without wasting any breath.
She could take on Hayley but she would not waste a single breath on an unknown passerby.
Thus, Nell turned a blind eye to her and crossed over them to get to the toilet.
Hayley hit the roof when Nell paid her no notice.
She grabbed Nell by the arm. âYou canât go!â
With a frown, Nellâs body acted before her mind and flung Hayley off.
Caught off guard, Hayley fell back two steps and gawped at her in surprise.
The girl hurried forward to prop her.
âHayley, are you okay?â
Snapping out of a trance, Hayley shook her head. âIâm okay.â
Just then, a voice was heard coming from behind them.
âWhatâs going on? What happened here?â
Nell halted her footsteps.
She turned around and saw Jason taking strides over from the other end of the corridor.
Jasonâs pupils shrunk at the sight of Nell. His eyes read complexity.
âNell Jennings, why are you here?â
Nell let out a faint smile.
âIs this hotel yours? If someone whose fiancée is a hospital bed can be here, why canât I be here?â
Jason was choked by her outlash of sarcasm.
âThatâs not what I mean.â
Having found her pillar of strength, Hayley immediately ran up to hold him by the arm. She tried to get in Jasonâs good books. âBrother, you came at the right time. She got rough with me!â
Jason cast a glance at her.
âJust leave it! Itâs good enough that youâre not pushing people around. I doubt she could even lay a finger on you.â
Jason may be overprotective of his kind, but he also had a great understanding of his sisterâs character.
Hayley was overwhelmed with rage and grievance at the same time.
âBrother, itâs true. She pushed me!â
Jason turned his gaze to the girl beside.
Put in a difficult position, the girl forced a smile. âIâm sure it wasnât Ms. Jenningsâ intention.â
In other words, she was indirectly admitting that Nell did indeed push Hayley.
Although Nell was no stranger to their shamelessness, it did not occur to her that they would stoop to a whole new low.
With a frown, Jason looked towards Nell.
He wanted to call her into account but her cold stare, for some reason, made him swallow his words.
Ruffled, Hayley urged him. âBrother, tell her to apologize to me!â
Jason paused before speaking with a gruff, âNell Jennings, whatever happened between us doesnât involve Hayley. You should apologize to her!â
Nell smirked out of anger.
She gazed at Jason and scoffed. âI know youâre stupid but I didnât know youâre this stupid. Itâs no wonder Hayley Morton and Celine Jennings are able to team up and deceive you in a few words. Youâre really... an idiot.â
Jason was most repulsed by her holier-than-thou attitude and her taking a dig.
His complexion darkened. âIâm trying to talk to you. Why must you reply with such sarcasm?â
Nell chuckled. âTrying to talk to me? You only took to their opinion without learning my side of the story.â
Jason coldly blurted, âIâll admit, Hayley may be arrogant and bossy at times. Itâs possible that she lied but for Tara to say so, it must be true. We wonât fuss about you pushing but you should at least admit to it and apologize!â
Tara?
Oh~ She was wondering why she looked rather familiar. So the girl was Tara Garrett of the Garretts in the capital?
Nell snorted.
âAnd you believe her?â
âSheâs a friend of mine. Of course I believe her.â
âHa! I used to be your girlfriend but I donât see you believing me?â
Jason, â...â
Nell was a little disappointed.
Although she had seen the true colors of this man, it was still six years worth of a relationship. There were times she had hoped he was not as bad as she thought.
However, she realized up to this point, there were things that even if she cast her mind away from, they still remained in existence.
With old dreams left shattered, no one would consider the feelings of the person that was once in their dreams.
They only showed interest in what was before their eyes because the present was solely the cause of concern and care.
Nell callously smiled. Refusing to be involved with him any longer, she turned to leave.
In that moment, Jasonâs voice was heard behind her.
âWait!â
Nell took a deep breath and stopped at her tracks.
âAnything else?â
Jason took a glance around with a suspicious look on his face.
âAre you here alone?â
âWhatâs it got to do with you?â
Jason scowled.

Nell smirked out of rage.
She turned back to meet Jasonâs gaze. Her eyes spoke of biting sarcasm.
âJason Morton, who gave you the confidence to think Iâm demeaning myself?â
Jason furrowed his brows.
âNell Jennings, donât be stubborn. I know what kind of person you are. Iâm not convinced that you can fall in love with someone else so soon after we broke up.
âIâll admit that I let you down. Iâve compensated you the best I could. I heard that you sold the two companies. The money should be sufficient for you to have a worry-free life. You donât have to rush to find another man...â
âEnough!â
