Chapter 867

Spoiled by the President

"I actually don't hate you at all. Although you did do a lot of things that made me very sad, I still know that you’ll always be my Brother Gregory who’ll protect me, take care of me, and promise to be good to me for the rest of my life."

Vickie’s eyes suddenly grew sore as they were filled with tears.

However, she remained strong, not allowing a single drop to fall.

She curled her lips and laughed softly.

"Do you still remember that I liked to call you Brother Gregory when we were young? At that time, I really wanted a brother, so I was always following behind you.

"Then once when I learned martial arts from you, I was beaten up by you so bad that I didn't want to call you that anymore.

"That’s because I heard that other people’s brothers would love and spoil their sisters and never hit them.

"But you beat me up and I hated you then. I swore I'd never call you brother again.

"Do you remember that? Because of this, you were angry with me for a long time, but since you didn't know the reason why I suddenly stopped calling you brother, you eventually gave up.

"Gregory, if you wake up now, I'll call you Brother Gregory again, okay?"

The person on the bed did not react. More so, it was as if he never heard her words.

Vickie could no longer hold back her tears and they fell silently like raindrops.

The corner of her lips curled up and she smiled.

"If you don't say anything, I'll take it as a yes, okay? Or, I'll call you first and if you hear me, just respond by opening your eyes and look at me, okay?"

There was still no sound from the man on the bed.

She slowly leaned down to his ear and whispered, "Brother Gregory...”

"Brother Gregory...”

"Brother Gregory...”

She called him countless times, but the soft whisper was like the whistling wind of time that, in an instant, pulled the two of them back to more than a decade ago.

Although Vickie's tears kept flowing, the smile was still on her face.

She did not know how long she had been calling his name while holding onto his big palm, but suddenly, his fingers twitched.

Vickie was stunned and seemingly a little incredulous. "Brother Gregory?"

Next to them, Mr. Osborne saw it too and he moved over excitedly.

"His finger's moving! He's conscious!"

Both of them were weeping with joy.

Although Gregory had yet woken up at this time, Vickie knew that he could hear her.

He really could hear what she said.

She felt confused yet grateful as she called out to him again with an increasingly intense voice.

In the quiet room, the woman's low cry was accompanied by the even and faint breathing of the man on the bed which made a harmonious yet bizarre scene.

Except for the slight movement of his finger before, there were no other responses afterward.

Not able to stand it any longer, Mr. Osborne went forward and advised her. "Miss Thomas, please take a rest for a while. You’ll lose your voice if you keep calling him like this."

Vickie, however, shook her head.

She said softly, "Uncle Osborne, do you think he can hear my voice? He must be able to hear it, right?"

Mr. Osborne's eyes reddened as well.

"He can hear you, but he probably prefers if you’d take care of yourself. Else, he won't be happy when he wakes up and sees you like this."

Vickie knew that Mr. Osborne was right.

So, she wiped away her tears and forced a smile before she said, "You're right, I should take care of myself and wait for him to wake up."

Mr. Osborne replied, "Miss Thomas, why don't you come over here and rest for a while. I’m sure you didn’t get a good night’s sleep."

As he said this, he pointed to a makeshift cot next to it.

Vickie did not refuse. Instead, she walked over after a nod.

She laid on the bed and looked at Gregory who was lying on the bed not far away.

Her mind was in a mess, filled with all sorts of emotions, but eventually, she closed her eyes.

Perhaps it was because she was too exhausted or there could be some other reasons.

It was an unusual time to fall asleep, but not long after she laid down, she really did fall asleep.

Seeing her asleep, Mr. Osborne closed the door and retreated gently.

Gregory woke up the next afternoon.

At that time, the sun was shining in from the window. His fingers twitched and soon after, he opened his eyes.

The light outside was so glaring that he squinted. He then felt something in his hand and when he looked down, he saw that the little woman was lying on the side of the bed and was in a deep sleep.

The late afternoon sun that shone in from the window was reflected on her small pale face. He could even see the tiny fine hairs on her face which made his heart melt.

Just then, Mr. Osborne came in with some stuff he got from the outside.

As soon as he saw that Gregory was awake, he immediately revealed a look of surprise.

However, before he had a chance to speak, Gregory extended a finger to his lips as a gesture to be quiet.

Mr. Osborne nodded his head before he eased his way slowly towards the bed.

Vickie was still fast asleep.

Maybe she had been too tired these two past days. She was originally sitting on the edge of the bed to keep him company, but somehow, she fell asleep with him.

Gregory did not allow Mr. Osborne to wake her up, so Mr. Osborne was careful to be as quiet as possible.

Though seeing that Gregory was looking at the little woman lovingly, Mr. Osborne then lowered his voice and smiled.

"Since you were injured, Miss Thomas has been by your side this whole time, so she's exhausted."

Gregory nodded his head, his voice somewhat coarse.

"I know."

In fact, that day, he did feel her calling out to him vaguely.

That voice did not sound like it was drifting in from his ears, and rather, it sounded like it came from deep within his brain and through his distant memories.

A voice called out to him, "Brother Gregory...”

He had not heard this voice in a long time.

Along with it carried longingness, reluctance, and deep and complicated feelings.

Gregory's eyes were incomparably warm and gentle. He wanted to lift his fingers to gently touch her face, but he was afraid of waking her up, so in the end, he held back.

Mr. Osborne retreated silently when he saw this.

He knew that what the Young Master wanted at this moment was not medicine for his wounds, but time alone with Miss Thomas.

To the Young Master, Miss Thomas was better than all the best medicine in the world combined.

However, Vickie woke up eventually.

It was not because she was woken up by someone, but because she had been having trouble sleeping these past two days. One moment she would be in deep sleep, and the next, the picture of Gregory covered in blood would suddenly jump into her mind and it would startle her awake.

The moment Vickie opened her eyes, she looked at him blankly.

Eventually, they were fixed on his handsome and deep face.

"You...”

She opened her mouth and in the warm sunlight, her eyes sparkled in surprise.

"You're awake?"

Vickie almost jumped up in surprise.

Gregory had to reach out and support her. Only then did it stop her from falling on the ground.
