Chapter 872
Spoiled by the President
Caught by surprise, Vickie frowned. She then noticed Gregory beckoning to Harold who was standing not far away.
Harold immediately handed over an item.
Upon receipt, Gregory passed it on to Vickie. âTake a look.â
Vickie acquired the item for a glance. It was a map.
Gregory said, âThis thing was tattooed on his back. We couldnât tell in the beginning what it was, but it was Harold who spotted something fishy about the outlines of the tattoo. We got this map after close inspection and got someone to draw the same.â
With a frown, Vickie inspected the twisting and winding lines before asking, âWhatâs the location on this map?â
Gregory shook his head. âI donât know.â
âDonât know? Thatâs not good news.â She was discontent.
Gregory chuckled softly. âThis indeed wouldnât be good news if the clue stopped there, but by chance, I thought it looked familiar when Harold handed me the map, so I compared it with the jade we got from the auction, and guess what happened?â
Vickie looked at him in a daze.
He took out the jade from the side and gave it to her. âSet it side by side and see for yourself.â
Vickie accepted the jade and placed it on the paper for comparison. After a while, she was astounded to find the map drawn on the paper an exact match to the pattern on the jade.
Wh-what was going on?
Gregory solemnly explained, âI suspect that the pattern on the jade isnât some writing but is part of a large piece of a map.
âDidnât our investigation conclude that there are twelve of these jades? Perhaps each of them has a different pattern, representing a section of the map. Weâd be able to piece together an entire map if we collect all twelve jades and find what weâre really looking for.â
Vickie squinted her eyes. She had a feeling that things seemed to be getting out of hand. She turned to Gregory and asked, âBut why is this tattooed on his back? Isnât he afraid that it will be found out?â
He shook his head. âIâm unsure about this myself, but it can prove that he was lying to us, or at least, he wasnât telling the whole truth.â
Vickie frowned.
With the events unfolding to this point, she shared the same thought.
Although Terrence was unhappy with the status quo provided to them by Gregory, he could not leave. Otherwise, they would face Gregoryâs wrath.
This led to Terrence hammering out a deal with these people and doing what he had done when they sought him out for help at the promise of money and power.
If the truth was indeed as mentioned, then how would it explain the tattoo on his back?
He could not possibly be clueless about the tattoo. Otherwise, why would he have agreed to get a strange pattern tattooed on his body?
On the other hand, if he did know, it meant that Terrence had long picked up on something.
It was possible that the matter was not as he said. He might have agreed to do those things because he had other intentions in mind.
Those people might have merely come across him by chance, or maybe it was just an attempt by Terrence to pull wool over everyoneâs eyes.
Could Terrence be, in fact, the person, who was secretly sent by the other party, to lurk around Gregory from the start?
Neither did Vickie know nor could she be certain, but one thing was for sure: things were beyond complicated.
Although a lot of people were aware of the Arcane Jade, only a handful had seen the pattern on the jade with their very own eyes.
She had her doubts about how this person was able to chance upon this pattern and got it tattooed on his back too.
Furthermore, she was in two minds about Terrenceâs intention of sneaking around Gregory.
If her guess was right, it was not really about turning his allegiance to these people. Instead, Terrence had his own agenda.
What good would it do to Terrence if he were to kill Gregory? What was it that he was really after?
Vickie did not have the answer.
Everyoneâs guess was as good as hers.
Vickie had a weird feeling creeping upon her. She had the feeling that Gregory and her every step seemed to be accurately taken into account by the other party from the beginning to the end.
Regardless of what they did, the other party appeared to snatch whatever they desired from their hands with ease and throw them off.
Who could this other party be?
What was the reason behind all that elaborated scheming?
Gregory shared the same doubt.
He was silent for a moment before uttering, âIâll get my men to launch another more detailed investigation on every interpersonal relationship he had over the years and on any remaining members of his family. Donât worry too much about it. Iâm unconvinced that the search will turn up empty.â
Bobbing her head up and down, Vickie gazed at him. At last, she was unable to hold her tongue.
âJust be careful.â
âSure, I know.â
After she was gone, Gregory gave Harold a few instructions and ordered him to launch an investigation.
Vickie headed out to find Andrea and take her back to the room.
Andrea glanced at her and smiled. âSister Vickie, what did you talk to the young master about?â
Turning over, Vickie took a glance and chuckled. âWhy the question?â
âOh, nothing. I was just curious.â Her blinking eyes gave away her gossipy nature.
Vickie was feeling an inexplicable embarrassment from the stare. She had done nothing, yet the look the girl was giving her seemed to hint otherwise.
Unable to help herself, Vickie raised her arm and gently tapped on Andreaâs head. She lightly scolded her, âDonât jump to conclusions!â
After a pause, Vickie suddenly turned towards Andrea and enquired in all smiles, âWhat about you? I saw you together with Jonathan today. Have you known each other for a long time?â
Andreaâs face quickly blushed at Vickieâs prying question. She fumbled for the words to say. âW-we havenât known each other for long.â
Clicking her tongue, Vickie shook her head. âWhy do I think that this isnât the case? Judging by how familiar you are with each other, it doesnât look like you just met.â

After a while, she gave in. âSister Vickie, stop poking fun at me. Brother Jonathan and I come from the same place. I guess weâre homies, hence why the exchange, but thereâs nothing going on between us.â
A sense of loss fleeted across her eyes.
Vickie was a shrewd person, and although Andrea tried her utmost to hide her feelings, Vickie could still tell at a single glance.
Putting the jokes aside, Vickie adopted a stern countenance. With her eyes on Andrea, she asked seriously, âArenât you two together yet? Or perhaps, you like him but heâs unaware of it?â
By then, Andrea was already blushing scarlet in the face.
