Chapter 9
Spoiled by the President
âYou!â
Shaun was infuriated. âIâm asking you again. Are you coming back or not?â
âIâm not!â
âGood! Remember what you said! Donât say I didnât warn you when your grandmother comes after you later!â
Shaun felt like he really could not communicate with his daughterâs cold and icy attitude and simply hung up.
Nell scoffed and ignored him. She put the phone away and continued to eat the takeaway she just ordered.
On the other side, Sylvia was sitting in the dining room. She frowned upon seeing Shaun walk in exasperatedly.
âHow is it? Have you informed her? Is she coming back tonight?â
Shaun snapped, âHow would I win against her? Her wings have hardened and sheâs so independent now. She wonât come back without hiring a palanquin to pick her up.â
Sylviaâs expression darkened.
Her chopsticks slammed on the table with a slap.
âInsolent!â
Everyone in the dining room jumped. Ever since the death of Old Master Jennings, Sylvia had been in charge of the Jennings family. She had accumulated years of power, so her anger was still slightly intimidating.
Sally made a gesture to Celine with her eyes.
Celine quickly picked up the bowl of soup in front of her and walked over to the old lady before saying gently, âGrandmother, donât be angry. Your health is more important.â
Sally also interjected. âYes, if Nell doesnât want to come back, then donât worry about her. Weâll think of another way. Anger is bad for your health.â
Sylvia laughed coldly. âRidiculous! She thinks she doesnât have to come back just because she doesnât want to? I want her here today! Iâd like to see just how hard her wings are!â
Then, she waved and beckoned the butler, Fabian Westwood.
âFabian, go and find out where she is now. Send someone to tell her that if she doesnât come back tonight, Iâll burn all the things her mother left behind! She wonât get a single penny!
Fabian paled and he quickly responded, âYes.â
...
In the afternoon, Nell finished her last order and got ready to close her shop.
Unexpectedly, she saw Fabian Westwood standing beside the door as soon as she walked out.
Fabian had been the butler in the Jennings family for over a decade, so Nell naturally recognized him.
Before Sally Youngs and Celine Jennings had been taken into the family, Nell had a good relationship with Fabian. Although they were not that close, they had mutual respect for each other.
Seeing him again, she suddenly recalled the call she had from Shaun that afternoon, and her expression grew cold.
âEldest Miss, youâve finished work.â
Fabian approached her. Nell glanced at him while holding her keys.
âFabian, itâs been a while.â
âIt has. Eldest Miss is growing more and more beautiful. If the late Madam were around, Iâm sure she would have been very pleased to see you.â
Nellâs lips quirked upwards. âIf my mom were still around, would you stand by her or by Sally Youngs?â
Fabian did not expect her to suddenly ask such a question and was at a loss for words.
Nell had no intention of making things difficult for him and only chuckled. âIâm just joking. Donât be nervous.â
Fabian almost dripped with cold sweat and forced a dry laugh.
âDo you need me for something?â
The butler hurriedly said, âThe Old Madam has sent me to take you home.â
Nellâs eyes grew cold. A sneer pulled at her lips. âDidnât Shaun Jennings tell you that I donât want to go back?â
âHe did, but the Old Madam said... She said that if you refuse to go back, all the relics your mother left behind will be disposed of.â
Fabian spoke vaguely, but Nell instantly understood what he meant.
Her expression darkened. âShe said that?â
Fabian looked vexed.
After a pause, he advised earnestly, âEldest Miss, havenât you suffered quite a few losses over the years from arguing with your family? The Old Madam only wants you to come back for a meal, and the late Madam did not leave that much behind. Itâll be too late for regrets if theyâre lost.â
Nellâs expression was tense and livid.
A long time later, she finally loosened her clenched fist. âAlright.â
Fabian sighed in relief at her agreement.
He bowed and opened the door for her. âEldest Miss, please get in!â
Nell climbed into the car silently.
Twenty minutes later, the car arrived at the Jenningsâ villa.
The villa was located in a famous area for the wealthy in Jincheng. It was nestled between mountains and water and had beautiful scenery.
Nell got out of the car and walked inside with a blank expression.
In the living room, Sally Youngs was choosing the dress Celine would wear for the birthday party the day after tomorrow.
It was an important day for Celine, who was about to announce her relationship. Not only was it her birthday, but it would also be the day she got engaged to Jason Morton.
After making the preparations, Sylvia Walker ordered them to quickly choose the dresses and booked the venue.
There were only two days till the event, so it would be impossible to get their dresses tailor-made.
Fortunately, it was just a birthday party, and Jason and Celine would just announce the engagement privately. From the outside worldâs point of view, the two would have been engaged a long time ago already, so there was no need for her to dress too grandly.
After choosing for a whole afternoon, Celine finally picked a few sets of her preferred dresses.
Now all that was left was to wait until it was delivered to her door tomorrow.
The two of them were happily discussing when a sudden noise came from the door.
When they looked up, they saw Nell walk in.
She was wearing a white shirt along with a pair of black pencil pants that accentuated her straight and slender legs. She also wore a beige windbreaker, and her wavy hair was swept over her shoulder, giving her a cool and airy look.
As Celine looked at her, a faint jealousy emerged in her heart.
She just did not like Nellâs pretentious appearance.
She was someone who sold erotic products, yet she dressed like a social elite. Her aloof and cold face made people think that she was noble and grand.
However, when Celine thought about Nellâs profession, a few threads of satisfaction arose in her heart.
âSo what if she pretends to be high and lofty? She still canât compete with me.
âIâm the treasure of the Jennings family and the most popular flower in the entertainment industry. What about her?
âSheâs just an outcast abandoned by her own family. So what if sheâs talented? She canât even keep the job in her hands.
âAt that time, sheâll only be able to coop up in that ten square meter shop all day long and sell her little toys.â
Thinking about this, Celine could not help but feel pleased. She straightened her back and pulled a smile on her lips as she stepped forward.
âSister, youâre back!â
Sally also reacted and hurriedly approached, her face filled with laughter.
âYouâre back! Come, sit! Aunt Carroll, pour a glass of water for the Eldest Miss.â

Nell ignored them and said coldly, âWhy did you call for me?â
Sally looked slightly awkward.
Celine saw this and quickly took Nellâs arm with a smile. âSister, whatâs the hurry? Itâs not often you come home. Letâs talk after dinner! We havenât chatted for a long time. Thereâs still some time before dinner, so why donât we talk in my room?â
Nell looked at her with cold eyes. Her tone grew mocking.
âTalk about what? About how you seduce men? Sorry, but Iâm not interested in those dirty tricks. I canât learn them either.â
