Chapter 915

Spoiled by the President

While walking down, Vickie stretched her arms and legs as she said, “Pretty good. Nothing out of the ordinary.”

“I heard from Gregory that the doctors said your body still has some lingering side effects from the sedatives and will need a few days to fully leave your body.”

“Is that so?” She thought about it and smiled. “Maybe, but I still don't feel any different. Just that my head feels heavy and muffled. I also feel sleepy all the time.”

“That sounds about right.” Nell paused before suddenly asking, “By the way, I never got to ask but during the time you were kidnapped, did they bully you? Were you stuck in the same place?”

Gregory had relayed information to Gideon and Nell via phone call before they saved her.

He told them to assemble the doctors for the moment they came home. Since they were well aware of what was happening, it was an added measure of security in case they did something to Vickie and Gregory failed to notice.

Thus, Nell knew about the creepy place they saved her from.

Vickie responded, “They didn’t bully me... But I can't really remember... I think... They probably didn’t?”

Nell was rather taken aback at Vickie’s frustrated expression.

“You don't remember? How come?”

Vickie shook her head. “I don't know either...”

As she spoke, she felt a deep-seated discomfort in her body and shook her head again.

“To be honest, since I got back, my mind has felt hazy and foggy. It’s like I’m constantly confused and spaced out.”

Nell frowned worriedly.

“Is it uncomfortable? Other than the haziness, are there other symptoms?”

“Other symptoms... Not really.”

As she said that, her feet froze and Nell stopped as well. She saw Vickie’s face turn completely pale. She then clutched her head painfully and fell to the floor, kneeling.

Nell panicked and the leashes slipped out of her hand, allowing the dogs to run amok as they chased each other.

She opted to leave the dogs be and knelt to support Vickie. “Vickie? Vickie, what’s wrong? Are you okay?”

Vickie did not speak but just tightly clenched her teeth while she clutched her head with both hands. Her face was getting paler.

Nell panicked even more.

“Vickie, don't scare me, please. What’s wrong?”

Nell hastily fished out her phone to call Gregory, but before she could dial his number, Vickie stopped her.

Her weak voice whispered, “Don't tell him. I’m fine.”

Nell paused and raised a skeptical eyebrow at her.

After a long while, Vickie slowly recovered. A thin layer of cold sweat appeared on her forehead. Her body looked as weak as a person who had almost drowned.

She glanced at Nell and reassured her. “I’m fine now. Don't worry.”

Nell just frowned at her and helped her stand up.

“What was that? You just...”

Vickie solemnly responded, “I’m not sure why, but from last night up until now, my head would randomly explode with a headache. Each episode isn’t long. I just need to ride it out.”

Nell’s face was filled with worry. Vickie weakly smiled at her.

“Don't worry, the doctors did a full-body check-up on me last night. My body’s fine. I think the headaches are part of the sedatives’ lingering aftereffects. With time, it’ll all leave my body and I’ll be fine.”

Nell was not sure how true it was, but she had no choice to respect Vickie’s decision to not tell Gregory.

She nodded but was still worried. “We can't let this just fester though. Why not let the doctors check on you one more time?”

Vickie considered it and agreed. “Alright. I’ll ask them to come over in the afternoon.”

Nell relaxed a bit at her willingness to get checked.

The two continued their stroll.

After a long walk, the two ladies were strangers no more and got very well acquainted.

Friendships for females were always built easier than males. In such a short amount of time, the two had become the best of friends.

Their personalities were also very similar. They said what was on their minds and were the truest forms of themselves. Despite just getting to know each other, they acted like they were old friends.

They sat together during lunch as well.

Gregory and Gideon noticed they had gotten very close and smiled to themselves.

After lunch, Nell dragged Gideon back to their room for their afternoon nap.

Vickie, on the other hand, had slept too much and was wide awake, unable to sleep.

She had no idea what happened in the chateau recently, so she asked Gregory for details.

Nell gave her a quick summary after she woke up this morning, but the details were still unknown to her.

She had to know.

Gregory was initially unwilling to tell her but caved at her insistence.

He could never hide anything from her. Since they were childhood friends who grew up together, he knew what she was like and tried to avoid telling her too many unnecessary things as she would then worry about it.

A lot of matters were best left unsaid, but sometimes, telling them only would only worry them. On the other hand, if you kept quiet, they might just worry even more and cause misunderstandings.

He told her everything as she listened silently.

Occasionally, she would refill his cup of tea and take sips out of her own. They talked for over half an hour.

Gregory looked at her with a slight frown and said, “That’s about it. We’ve all been a bit scared since you went missing, but now that you’re back, everything’s better. Don't worry, be it the Chinese Association or the Flinders, all the people who harmed you will get what’s coming to them. Vickie had a deja vu moment from the way he solemnly vowed that he would take revenge. A long time ago, when she was being bullied, a little boy rushed out and vowed to protect her.

Her heart filled with warmth as she smiled.

“I know, but this... It became such a clusterf*ck that I’m worried...”

Gregory held her hand tightly.
