Chapter 916
Spoiled by the President
âThereâs nothing to worry about. Their goal was never you, but the Dragon Regiment that youâre connected to. Just like last time when they targeted Nell, but their real goal was the Leith family and the Bauhinias that sheâs connected to.
âVick, I thought that after surviving to this age and experiencing so many harsh battles, my heart was stone-cold, but I now realize that youâve been melting the ice in my heart since Iâve known you. So please, from now on, take care of yourself for my sake and don't put yourself in any more danger, okay?â
Vickie looked up at him and saw genuine tenderness in his eyes for the very first time.
She was slightly taken aback and felt a slight pang in her heart. She could not understand why.
Reaching out to caress Gregoryâs cheek, she noticed how much he had run himself ragged from all the work and stress recently.
Vickie assured him. âOkay. Iâll be careful from now on.â
Gregory finally relaxed and smiled.
She quickly added something else, as if she forgot to mention it earlier, âAh, right, I wanted to tell you something.â
âWhat is it?â
âLeila is from the Chinese Association. I got caught by them because she planned it.â
Gregory raised his eyebrows and said, âI knew that.â
Vickie getting kidnapped was such a huge deal. How could he have been so careless?
A few days after she went missing, he found out that Leilaâs identity was fake. Her real name was Amber and she acted as a spy for the Chinese Association in the chateau.
Seeing that Gregory knew about it, Vickie breathed a sigh of relief.
However, she was still slightly worried. âTo think that someone like Leila, who has been with you for so many years, turned out to be a spy... Who knows how many other people could be spies... Gregory, maybe you should do background checks again.â
He smirked. âWhy? Are you scared now?â
Vickie nodded.
He froze.
This woman used to be the most fearless person he knew. Not even a gun to her head or a knife to her throat would faze her. Now, she was admitting her fear so openly!
The fact that she had so easily admitted she was scared made Gregoryâs heart ache.
He solemnly swore. âDon't you worry. Now that Iâm here, no one can hurt you.â
Vickie shook her head.
âIâm not worried about myself. Iâm worried about you.â
She gripped his hand and quietly said, âFor people like us who walk a precarious and uncertain path, encountering danger is nothing new. It can happen any day, and Iâm not worried about that. But what happens when thereâs an enemy so close to you and hiding among your most loyal and trusted people?
âTake the last time you went on a business trip, for example. Someone placed a bomb in your room in the middle of the night! You were lucky you lived that day, but what if you didnât? I don't want to think about that possibility, Gregory.â
Gregoryâs eyes became downcast when she finished. Her words were a harsh reminder.
Even though he got Harold to perform a background check on everyone in the chateau after the initial incident, it was not a very detailed check.
There were too many things happening all at once, and he had no time to be more thorough.
However, now that the Chinese Association was about to collapse, it meant more people would seek to join the Dragon Regiment. The chateau would need more stationed guards.
It was high time for a large scale detailed background check.
He nodded. âI got it.â
Vickie was relieved to see him take her advice.
The two cuddled for a while and chatted. Before long, Mr. Osborne came by with her medicine.
Since someone had tried to poison Vickie last time, all of her food and medication was now made under Mr. Osborneâs supervision.
Mr. Osborne had watched Gregory grow up and was the most trusted person in the chateau.
Vickie took her medicine and started feeling sleepy again. Soon after, she fell asleep.
Gregory quietly left the room after making sure she was asleep.
He went to Mr. Osborne and relayed an order, âI need you to carry out a thorough investigation on everyone in the chateau. This has to be done in secret, so don't alert anyone unnecessarily.â
This took Mr. Osborne by surprise, but he quickly caught on and nodded. âOf course.â
After he left only did Gregory return to his room.
After a week, the Chinese Association collapsed. All of their territories were claimed and their headquarters was raided by Gregory and his men.
He saw so many ex-Vermilion Bird and ex-Dragon Regiment elders there.
To meet again after so many years but end up on different teams...
Four years ago, Gregory would show no mercy. Now? One would be lucky to get to beg for their life.
Back then, Vickie was still there to plead with him to show them mercy, but now that she knew the truth, she just coldly stated that her âsiblingsâ were dead. These people were strangers to her.
She said nothing for them.
These ex-bigwigs of the Vermillion Bird and Dragon Regiment sold their souls in exchange for glory in the Chinese Association, thinking that they would reach greater heights.
In the end, they could not escape their inevitable karma and fell to their knees at the hands of Gregory Graham.
Vickie stayed out of that. She had no idea how he dealt with them.
She was not keen on finding out either. These people were dead to her anyway.
After the collapse, the remaining forces under it were divided into several small factions.
The Dragon Regiment was in the middle of regaining its momentum. With this streak, they had already gotten back a fraction of the massive power they once had.

ï¤Chapter 487 The End Pt. 5 Not to mention that the Griffin family was still in country F since they started there, and they had expanded to a point where they were satisfied. Due to that, other than taking over the nearby territory of the Chinese Association, they did not really have any other plans to expand further.
The Leiths started from business and after so many years, they slowly stopped getting involved with underground businesses.
Due to that, Gregory left most of the business aspects to Gideon to take care of.
As for the Bauhinias... That was self-explanatory.
Gale was livid when found out that the Chinese Association was behind what happened to Nell, so he immediately put them on his blacklist and planned to eradicate them sooner or later.
He went through hell just to find Nellâs niece, so he could never tolerate seeing her bullied like this.
Thus, when the time came to split their bounty, he had no opinions and took whatever was left after everyone finished splitting it.
The only suspicious thing was that the Flinders did not jump at the bounties when they were splitting it. It was assumed they would always reach out if there was a profit to be made.
It was not just Gideon and Gregory who were baffled by it, but even Old Gangster Gale was confused.
At the same time, in a picturesque manor on an island...
An elegant man leaned against his recliner, listening to the low and rhythmic report coming from his servant. His eyes held a small glint in them as he slowly waved the fan in his hand.
