Chapter 920
Spoiled by the President
With that, Nell responded with a simple, âOk.â
Gideon asked, âWerenât you playing poker? Why are you here? Did they stop?â
Nell replied, âThey stopped. The game ended and we felt a bit hungry so we were thinking of getting some supper. I came to ask if you wanted some so that the kitchen maids can make more food.â
Gideon did not answer right away but instead, he looked to Gregory and Liam.
Gregory was sweating from whatever he was doing earlier.
As Gregory wiped his sweat with a towel, he said, âIâll have some.â
Liam nodded too. âThen Iâll have some too.â
So Nell replied, âAlright, then Iâll go and let them know.â
Then, she turned to leave.
Unexpectedly, just as she was about to walk, Gregory stopped her for a moment.
âAh, wait.â
Nell turned her head to look at him. âYes?â
Gregory grinned. âWhen you get there, tell Vickie to come out here for a moment, thereâs something I wanted to talk to her about.â
Nell raised an eyebrow, searching Gregoryâs face for an answer but found nothing, and hence she just nodded and said, âSure.â
Once she left them, she headed straight to the kitchen.
In the meantime, Vickie was asking the kitchen maids for supper.
It was a simple supper of shrimp dumplings. They were relatively refreshing and light, perfect for the current season.
When Nell returned, Vickie asked, âSo? Are they eating?â
Nell nodded. âYeah, all three of them, so you can ask the maids to make a bit more.â
Vickie nodded back. âAlright, I got it. â
With that, she turned around and updated the kitchen maids.
Nell stood aside and waited for her to finish talking, not leaving the kitchen.
Only when Vickie was done she said, âBy the way, Gregory wanted to see you outside in the courtyard about something.â
Vickie stared at Nell in shock.
âMe? Why is he looking for me?â
Nell grinned as if it was nothing. âWho knows?â
Though she suddenly thought of a possibility and her eyes shone with a devilish glint.
âWho's to say that it might be a surprise for you? Now, now, hurry over. If youâre late, you might lose it.â
Vickie froze for a moment before smiling.
âThatâs impossible. Heâs not that kind of romantic person.â
Despite saying that, her footsteps were uncontrollably quick as she headed to Gregory.
Nell was curious too so she followed after her.
Midway, they ran past Janet, who noticed them moving hurriedly. She asked curiously, âWhat are you doing?â
Nell replied, âIâm going to see something interesting.â
Something interesting?
Janet paused before she jumped off the sofa.
âInteresting? I wanna see too!â
Just like that, something that was supposed to involve only two people ended up with a flock of busybodies.
The group then reached the garden in the back, expecting Gregory to be there waiting, but... The place was empty and not a person was in sight.
Gregory was not the only one who was not there as Gideon and Liam were gone too.
Nell froze for a bit, stunned.
Vickie asked suspiciously, âNelly, you said he was looking for me. Where is he then?â
Nell shook her head in confusion. âI have no idea. He was here earlier but now heâs gone.â
At this moment, a deep and alluring voice rang out from somewhere in the chateau.
âVickie, take twenty steps forward.â
Everyone jumped.
Only when they turned their heads did they realize that the voice was coming from the second floor.
The moment the group looked up, they saw Gregory standing alone on the second floorâs balcony, looking down at them, holding something akin to a microphone or a speaker in his hand. The amplified sound came from that!
Upon seeing that, Nell had a lightbulb moment in her head and her eyes shone.
Regardless of whether Vickie was willing to do it or not, Nell pushed her forward while pulling Janet back into the corridor.
Vickie was still frozen in place.
On the balcony of the second floor, the man himself stood there and stared at Vickie. His eyes held such depth that it felt like he was staring past her eyes and looking into her very soul.
Her heart could not help but flutter.
She did not know why but her heart began to beat faster.
She pouted slightly and did exactly as he said and walked twenty steps forward.
She was now on a more open and vast piece of land, with nothing around the area and not a soul in sight, let alone a single lamp.
This was when she noticed that it was strangely dark in the garden tonight.
Normally there would be lights all everywhere but tonight, it was pitch black. As a result, she felt like she was bathed in darkness.
Vickie was a little scared despite knowing her surroundings well. She had always been afraid of the dark and with her emotions unstable, she felt like something bad was going to happen any moment. Hence, it terrified her even more.
She was not kept waiting long.
Gregoryâs low voice said, âStart.â
An affirmative âmnâ replied and the place was suddenly bathed in light.
It was not just the light from a single lamp but countless little lamps that were floating from the ground.
Many even brushed past her as they floated up into the sky.
Startled, Vickie subconsciously looked up to the sky. That was when she saw a drove of little drones hovering in the sky and forming a picture.
That picture...
Vickieâs heart skipped a beat.
The countless little lanterns lined up nicely to form a picture of the time she met Gregory when she was eight years old.
Gregoryâs low yet magnetic voice came from above her.
âYou were eight that year we met. Back then we were kids, I never thought that so much would happen to us.â
âI still remember when I first met you, you had your hair in two little braids. You were small but your attitude certainly wasnât. You told me that there were eyes and ears everywhere and that you were Grandpa Glennâs granddaughter. You said I was his disciple and that extended to mean that we were siblings. I told you I didnât want to be your brother.â
âYou were so sad at the time and cried so much. Although I looked calm, I was panicking inside because I never knew that girls cried so much so easily.â
The man smiled softly as if reminiscing the past.
All those beautiful images were like the finest wine in the world, preserved in our memories, becoming richer and more beautiful as time went on.
Another âmnâ sound was spoken and the lights suddenly changed into a different image.
