Chapter 95
Spoiled by the President
Unexpectedly, this morning, they had turned their backs and suddenly picked another supplier.
If it was just one case, Thomas would not have been suspicious.
However, the series of events let him know that something must have happened, or he had provoked someone who should not be provoked.
Sure enough, only God knew how angry he was when he learned that Haley had drugged Nell and provoked Gideon Leith.
However, no matter how angry he was, his daughter was still his daughter. All he could do was swallow any bitterness he had.
He had originally thought that it was Nell who had instructed Gideon to do all this, but judging by her reaction, she seemed to be clueless.
Gideon had done so much for her, but she did not know anything about it. Her position in Gideonâs heart must be...
Thomas did not dare to continue the train of thought. A deep feeling of regret arose in his heart.
How good would it be if he had not let Nell go back then?
Nevermind what she could bring to the Morton family. At the very least, she would not have provoked an enemy as big as Gideon Leith.
Thomas only felt miserable thinking about this, and advised in a soft voice. âSo you didnât know. Itâs alright. You just need to go back and tell Mr. Leith that the Morton family has no intention of making things difficult for you. Please ask him to be magnanimous. Iâll take it upon myself to properly control my children in the future and never let them mess with you again. Please tell him that.â
Nell was slightly startled and understood in a flash.
She smiled. âAlright, but Uncle Thomas must keep to his word and do it. Otherwise, if something happens again in the future, I canât guarantee that Iâll be able to plead for you again.â
Thomas said evenly, âYes, I understand.â
Nell nodded. âOkay, then Iâll drop this matter. Iâll leave first. You can bring her back yourself!â
Thomas smiled. âAlright, thanks a lot, Nell.â
Nell did not say anything more and turned to leave.
As she left, she happened to see Hayley being brought out.
The moment she saw Nell, she immediately rushed towards Nell viciously as if she was insane.
âNell Jennings! You b*tch! Stop right there! How dare you get me arrested? You must be tired of living! I wonât forgive you. Iâll never forgive you!â
Nell smiled sarcastically and looked at her like she was a piece of trash. Then, she strode away without hesitation.
Hayley continued to swear, but was held back by two policemen and could not break free.
She screamed at them. âWhy are you grabbing me? You should be arresting that woman! She crippled four of my bodyguards. I havenât even settled the score with her! Are you all dead? She committed such a serious crime and yet you arrested me instead? Are we living in a lawless society?â
The two policemen were expressionless.
Thomas got a headache from hearing Hayley and roared angrily. âShut up!â
Hayley shrieked. âNo! Dad, why are you letting her do as she pleases too?! Did she cast a spell on elder brother and you? She did this to me yet youâre letting her go!â
Thomas could not stand it any longer and raised his hand to slap her face.
Hayleyâs head whipped to the side at the force and she looked at him in disbelief.
âDad! Y-You hit me?â
Thomas gnashed his teeth. âI should have hit you a long time ago! Iâve pampered you ever since you were a girl, but now I see that Iâve spoiled you too much. Thatâs why youâve become so undisciplined!â
Hayley saw her fatherâs livid expression and realized that he was truly furious this time.
She quickly softened her attitude and sobbed. âDad, I was wrong. Donât be angry, please? I was just mad that she always bullies Celine and wanted to seduce brother, s-so I just wanted to teach her a lesson.â
Thomas did not want to bother with her reasons at this point.
He rubbed his throbbing head and said wearily, âNext week, youâll go to America with your cousin! Pick up some better habits while youâre in the United States and donât come back for a while.â
Hayleyâs eyes widened.
âWhat? Dad, youâre sending me abroad? Iâm not going!â
Thomasâs voice was cold. âYou have to go even if you donât want to. This is not up for discussion!â
âDad! Youâd give up your own daughter because of that woman? Iâm not going! I wonât go even if you kill me!â
Thomas ignored her and called two bodyguards to force her home.
Then, he turned and left.
In the car, the chauffeur asked respectfully. âMr. Chairman, where are we going?â
Thomas pinched his eyebrows and said tiredly, âLetâs go back to the office for now.â
âUnderstood.â
As the car started, he looked out the window at the receding scenery, remembered what Hayley said, and scoffed.
âBecause of Nell Jennings?â
Hah! How could he give up his own daughter because of Nell Jennings?
It was clearly because of that man!
That man... His power and influence assured that a local merchant family like the Mortons simply could not afford to offend him.
Just why would such a man stay at Jincheng, and for six months at that?
What exactly was he here for?
Thomas fell deep in thought.
...
On the other side, Nell returned to Leith Gardens and changed her clothes after taking a shower.
By the time she was done, she realized that it was already 6:00 pm.
Aunt Joyce prepared dinner and called her down to eat, but Nell looked at the clock and asked curiously. âIsnât Gideon coming back today to eat?â
Aunt Joyce smiled. âMr. Leith just called to say that heâs working overtime today and wonât be coming back to eat.â
Nell hummed in acknowledgment and looked around.
Working overtime?
She wondered if that was true or not.
Since she did not have anything better to do today, she might as well go and have a look.
With this in mind, she told Aunt Joyce. âHow about this! Help me pack some food in a container and Iâll bring it to him. Pack my share as well, please.â
Aunt Joyce looked surprised at Nellâs words.
Then, she quickly responded. âYes, Iâll do so immediately.â
It was great that the young lady and young master were affectionate with each other. Aunt Joyce was so happy that her movements suddenly became more nimble.
Nell went back upstairs to take her bag and prepared to drop by the mall again when she returned later to buy a cell phone and a phone card.
When she went downstairs, Aunt Joyce had finished packing the food.
Aunt Joyce accompanied Nell holding the thermos food container all the way to the door, smiling. âYoung Missus, let the driver take you!â
Nell shook her head. âItâs fine. I can drive there myself.â
âVery well. Please be careful on the road.â
Nell put the container in the passenger seat, started the car, and drove off.
At Leith Corporation.
Gideon was in a meeting, and the atmosphere in the conference room was a little heavy.
Almost all of the companyâs top executives were present, but none of them dared to be light-hearted when facing the man sitting at the head of the table. All of them responded with all their spirit.
Although this meeting had been going on since the afternoon, no one dared to complain.

After finishing the report, he saw Gideonâs face grow darker and darker, and his heart could not help but sink.
